Trilby pulled her hat down over her ears and wrapped her mitten clad hands around her waist as she stood outside the quidditch pitch. The games had been called off due to the blizzard that had fallen during the night and yet foolish students had actually still convinced themselves that they could fly while freezing to death in sub zero temperatures. It had been left to her as she was class free to get them all back to the school. If she had to deal with one more smart mouth she knew she would probably scream though.

"No game today, it's been cancelled" she told another four students wrapped up against the biting cold, thankfully they grinned and ran off immediately rolling snowballs and firing them at each other. One managed to find its way back to Trilby and smacked her right in the face. Wiping it from her she glared at them but they were now too far and she was too cold and too numb to bother reprimanding them.

Her fur lined robes were just managing to keep the bitter cold out but not by much. She would like nothing better than to be sitting in front of a blazing fire and drinking a mug of hot chocolate but she knew that more would still venture down to the pitch so would have to put it off for another while.

Xavier hugged his jacket close to his body as he walked towards the Quidditch pitch, apparently the game had been cancelled so he wasn't required to play today, but for some reason his common sense decided to die and force him out here in the cold anyways, as he continued to make his way down he froze when he saw that someone seemed to already be down there and pushing the kids to go back inside. 'Uh-oh.' It was probably the Head boy or Girl, maybe even a prefect, all of whom Xavier didn't have very good relationships with. He was the goofball, the one who always pulled the stupid stunts out of his lack of common sense.

"You sure there's no game today miss?" He asked with a small smirk and a slightly easing tone, he heard her exclaim many times that the game was not going to happen but felt like being a pain in the butt at the moment. His ice blue eyes stared at her curiously.

Trilby wanted to bark loud and clear with the sonorus charm so that everyone could hear before they got anywhere near the pitch or herself but just managed to refrain from doing so. Good breeding and etiquette had taught her not to do such unnecessary unorthodox things. If there was one perfect description of Trilby it was that she was tightly wound, had no idea how to truly enjoy herself or how to have fun like the other students. Part of her begrudged them their natural ability for mischief making while another part of her was exasperated by it. A

As another person approached she groaned, he had been in ear shot for sure of the last fools she had told and seriously did not need for her to repeat herself but on closer inspection she saw who it was. Xavier had just about every heart in the school pounding ferociously, every one but hers. Trilby stood up as straight as she could wishing she had worn her prefect badge on her jacket instead of her sweater. His blue eyes perturbed her a little and it was not long before her chocolate brown orbs were looking away.

"I am certain that there is no game today"
her French accent punctuated the English words with breathtaking ease and yet her gentle voice seemed to make the words sound more exciting than they were. As if a yearning was behind each syllable she uttered. Clapping her gloved hands together to keep some semblance of warmth in she looked back at him.

"And this you well know Mr. Snow" she emphasised his name as if he were to blame for the bad weather conditions.

Xavier snickered under his breath at the harsh words that the Prefect said to him, he found it unbelievably funny though. Rarely any girl bothered to stand up to him in such a way, he was honestly used to getting what he wanted by just tossing them a look. 'So thats how it's gonna be eh?' Unlike his young half-siblings he wasn't a Veela, so he had to do things the old fashioned way, by a cute face and charm, which he had neither. "Oh but you know me, Snow just happens to be my calling." He gave her a charming smile before he lifted a pale white hand and to push some of his blonde out of his face, maybe he should have asked Vincent to come along. He would have felt more comfortable with someone else around instead of just him and the prefect. Him and anyone who enforced the rules always had rough spots.

"So miss Prefect, when are you gonna ditch the authority act and have some fun?" She looked bored, or slightly grouchy to begin with. But it's not like it was really his fault, even if he insisted on giving her a hard time.

Trilby bristled slightly, the guy was too goodlooking for his own good and she felt so damn inferior and inadequate standing near him. She had never captiliazed once on her own goodlooks, didn't think she was anything great to look at but then again she had no siblings and no mother, only a father who barely spoke unless it was to tell her to keep safe and be careful. Not once had she ever heard the words 'oh you look pretty today' so her looks never mattered to her the way they did to other girls.

She could tell that he was teasing her and wished he would go tease one of the many other girls who would quite happily fall at his feet for the attention.
"Very funny Xavier" she called him by his first name now, he was too well known at the school for her not to know it. How tempting would it be to simply pick up a wad of snow and mush it into his smug face. The visual was vivid enough and it brought a smile to her face as she stirred herself back to reality. Her cheeks were rosey as was her nose from the cold. Her breath came out in great plumes of smoke as she spoke.

"This is not an act. It is what I must do" she looked passed him and was relieved to see that he was the only bothersome person left. Obviously everyone else had finally gotten the message, "It would seem that I am no longer needed to relay the information."She told him very matter of factly as she stomped the snow from her boots before taking a step from him.
"I can safely say ... that you seem to be having enough fun for everyone at the school."

So she knew his name, a lot of people seemed to know his name around here and he sort of enjoyed the attention, it made him feel way for loved than he was at home. Trilby was awful cute, but she seemed like the type to turn someone like him in over the smallest things, he definitely needed to keep an eye out of her. "Can I help it if I like to enjoy having fun?" He shrugged his shoulders, her comment did sting a little, but why deny what he knew was true. Xavier was good at causing trouble for his own delight, he wasn't afraid to get a detention or two either, as long as he was getting a good laugh, he was okay with it. "It doesn't make me a bad guy." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at her. Xavier had awesome grades and usually behaved in class, it was out of class that you had to watch for.

"Awwh come on, just a little fun?" He scooped up a small handful of snow in his hand and molded it into a small ball. Walking over to Trilby he acted as if he were going to pat her on the head, but instead crushed the snowball over her head. "Ooops, sorry Trilby dearest." He laughed a little before he stepped away from her with a little grin on his face. Recently he had been lacking in the fun area due to the fact that he had been busy with family and attempting to get Vincent out of the little slump he was in lately.

Trilby stopped walking as he spoke to her, he was right he couldn't help it. He couldn't help looking devastating in all the cold and snow while she shivered looking like Rudolf on a bad day. He couldn't help having fun when it was obviously just his nature. As he spoke somemore she honestly felt apologetic and looked at him only to see him wiggle his eyesbrows at her. Her mouth opened and closed in exasperation leaving it pout sullenly as only the French girls were capable of doing and looking utterly breathtaking while doing so. Another step away from him and he was pretending to plead with her.

She stopped once more and saw him approach, his hand raising upwards to her head. Trilby had no idea what he was about to do but suddenly felt very aware of him. Then the cold crunch as a snowball came down on her head, his teasing words as he moved away while she stood there not knowing whether to cry or to get enraged. Did he really think this was fun? She pulled her hat from her head as the snowball dripped through the woollen fibres onto her hair and shook her long raven hair out about her. Clasping her hat still in her hand, she had her wand in her other hand before another breath could be made.

"You find that amusing?" she challenged him then flicking her wand swiftly and using the locomotor spell she swiped up quite a bit of snow and flung it directly at him. Trilby stood there wide eyed not believing for a minute that she had actually done that. First a grin, then a smile before a chuckle escaped that escalated to a delightful bubble of laughter as she looked at him.

Xavier thought it was all fun and games until he felt what could only be some snow, land straight into his face. He continued to laugh he wiped it off his face with his sleeve, the Snow didn't bother him as much. He liked the cold feeling of it, which actually he felt had nothing to do with his last name whatsoever. "Did little miss Prefect just fling a snowball at me?" He asked with fake shock, and put a hand to his chest as if he were in one of those dramatic movies, he couldn't believe that Trilby had just done that to him, especially after the small lecture she had given him. "Yes, I find that really amusing." He chuckle out as he shook some snow from his shirt, this was surely making up for his lack of Quidditch due to the snow storm.

"You should smile more, you look way prettier when you do." His voice was charming and his look suggestive, he was good at flirting and he knew it, but he never said anything he didn't mean.

Trilby stifled her laughter by placing her hand over her mouth quickly, though the corners of her mouth refused to lower at all. Her chocolate brown eyes seemed to dance with mirth at the sight of him now but as he wiped the snow from himself they grew wide and she bit her lip. Holding her hands up infront of herself now as if to defend herself, her wand pocketed once again she did seriously try her best not to smile, but it was just too difficult. He looked devastating before but now he looked more human, not like some muggle movie star, reachable and touchable and she found she preferred him like this. His dramatic hand to chest move continued to make her smile.

Her eyelids closed and opened slowly as she glanced downward before looking back up at him again.
"I did" she said nodding her head "but now we are even. You..." her words froze as he commented on her smile and how she looked when she did smile. Suddenly very conscious of herself she pushed some hair behind her ears, flustered by his words she glanced away again. He said things like that to all the girls, he was school wide famous for it for crying out loud. Trilby wanted to kick herself for nearly falling for the line how stupid did he think she was?

"Thanks I'll try to remember too" she said turning to walk back through the snow towards the school when her left foot sank deep into it and would not budge. Trilby attempted to lift it but it seriously felt like it weighed a ton under the snow. The only course of action in her view was her wand and with trembling hands from the cold she took it out once more.

Xavier was having a good time watching her facial expressions as she heard his comment about her having a pretty smile that should be seen more often, oh he was working the charm quite well today! When she turned to walk away he was afraid to admit that he was a bit bummed that their game was over, and almost turned away to leave as well, but then stopped in his tracks when Trilby's boot got stuck in the snow. "Hold still for a second." With a small sigh he walked over to to her and crouched down so he could dig some of the snow off her boot, when he got a reasonable amount away from her foot, he gently took her leg and moved it so he could lifted her foot from the snow. When he had her foot removed from the snow he stood back up to his full 6"3 height and gave her a small smile, he supposed that would be his good deed for the day.

"Try to watch your step, Trilby dearest." He pinched her cheek gently for second before he removed his hand from her cheek and rubbed his together, they were already quite warm, but Trilby was actually quite cold, maybe she needed to go inside or something for some hot chocolate, or a cuddle by the far. 'Okay, better stop myself here before the Prefect gets angry.' From what he knew, she was anything interested in being romantically linked with someone like him, sure he dated a lot of girls, but he wasn't so ready to settle down yet. He was good at flirting and and didn't know if it would be easy for him to give up anytime soon.

Before Trilby could do anything with her wand, Xavier was beside her telling her to hold still. Bending down he moved some of the compact snow from around her boot. She was flabbergasted, this was something that she could do in seconds with her wand and here he was making a grand production out of it. If she didn't know any better she would have said he was purposefully doing it muggle style just so he could touch her leg. When she was finally free she thought the bright but cold winter sun had been eclipsed when he stood so tall in front of her. His fingers pinched her cold cheeks and she blushed crimson.

She had every intention of saying thank you but his constant reference to her as dearest was driving her crazy. Refusing to be affected by him in any other way, no matter how much his close proximity was unraveling every nerve end she had, Trilby knew she had to grasp at something, anything to stay relatively composed now.

"Please could you stop calling me that" her deep chocolate brown eyes stared up into his ice cold blue ones, "I am not your dearest."
The jolt of longing that went through her was strange, as if a part of her would not mind being his 'dearest' at all.

Most boys would have considered her attitude as a complete shut down and would have given up on warming that heart, but Xavier embraced it as a challenge that he was going to have to work just that much harder at gaining. Two things he was good at in life, getting girls and making others laugh easily, this one would be no exception to him no matter how much she tried. The more she fought the more he would advance, it was almost stronger than his desire to win his fathers attention over his little brother, so instead of looking struck by her comment, he flashed her a small grin that showed his perfect smile. One that could mean that he was far from feeling insulted, she was only fueling the flame. "No I don't think I will stop." He lifted his hands up so he could place them in back of his head and rest it there as he stared down at her, whether she longed to be bothered by him or not, he was going to do it regardless because he wanted to. He sort of liked Trilby, or he wouldn't be bothering her really. His only task was getting her to comply and not freak over his advances on her.

"I could always call you baby or honey orrrrr Trilbykins. How do those sound?" He snickered as he played with a strand of her hair that blew about due to the wind, he was fully prepared to get smacked, his younger sister Alyssa usually had him on the floor by this point, but he wasn't so sure if the advances were unwanted on Trilby's part. "It could be worse, I could be a total scum and just go straight to asking if you'd like to snog." He blinked innocently as he placed to hands under his chin to play on the innocent act even further, it was true that by this point he was often already to that point with girls, but the ones he liked he usually held off a little on, there was always time for that later if they were into him as well.

Trilby wanted to leave but no amount of ordering her body to do so seemed to be working. Her brain seemed to want her to get out of there and yet her entire body refused to budge. His words had her confused, stuck in place like a mannequin.
"Call me what you wish then but do not think I will answer to any of those" she told him, her brown eyes suddenly had a spark that was very rare to be seen. She was not a person quick to temper nor was she one of a very passionate nature, but goaded long enough and she would fight back eventually like most vulnerable creatures.

"Does that usually work on the other girls about the school? Calling them ridiculous names for your amusement?" she flinched slightly as his hands moved not sure what he was about and when he said he could be a total scum by asking her for a snog she looked bewildered. Trilby had never heard the word before.

"Why? why are you tormenting me? Do you derive some sadistic pleasure Xavier?" her brown eyes now looked like melted chocolate, her voice held such an endearing softness to it through the delicious way her French accent accentuated some syllables and letters.
"Why would I like something that I do not know? What in the world is a snog?" exasperated she sighed as snow began to flutter gently about them. She really needed to get away from him and fast, her insides were doing a complete back flip from being so close to him.

Almost feeling bad for Trilby and her reaction to his teasing, Xavier blinked and put a thoughtful look on his soft and attractive features, he almost thought it sounded like her bothered her too much. However his bewilderment turned to immediate amusement when Trilby stated that she didn't know what a snog was, oh this was surely to much for Xavier to handle without snickering. Poor girl didn't know what one of the greatest creations in the world was, someone had obviously better clue the poor thing in. "Oh Trilby honey, snogging is only merely..." He bent down so that his face was level with hers and stared into her chocolate eyes with his own icy orbs. His cinnamon scented breath would probably intoxicate her if he lingered there too long, so with serpent like speed he pressed his soft lips to hers for a moment, before he pulled away and let a a mad grin form onto his face. "Something like that...." Usually it went further, but she was a prefect and he was a troublemaker, it was like a match from hell that would best be avoided. Once the effect of the kiss wore off, Xavier's face shifted around, if he was caught out here by a teacher or Vincent he would surely have his butt handed to him for flirting with yet another girl. He was actually pretty sure he was running our of girls at the school who he hadn't made a move on, which was a bit sad all and entertaining at the same time.

"And if the names don't work for the other girls, usually that will." He winked and flicked his platinum blonde hair, the newly fallen snow was beginning to build up and it was making his head a little cold. Trilby still looked freezing even with him so close and that highly amused him, he was still debating on whether to ask if she wanted to come inside with or not.

If time stood still at all then this was one of those rare moments, Trilby watched as if helpless. Xavier moved closer, lowering his head to hers. The scent of cinnamon was intoxicating and she wanted to stand on her tip toes to lean closer to him. The scent was like a memory bursting with intensity and then his lips were on hers. The gentlest graze of lips on lips for the briefest of moments. Trilby gulped in astonishment. Her eyes had not even closed.

Once before she had kissed a boy, the boy who she thought she would quite happily kiss for the rest of her life. But he cut off contact without any reason and she had promised herself no boy would ever get that close, cut her that deep, ever again. They simply could not be trusted. She had never heard of any relationship that went well at their age, so why bother. It was completely instinctual, the palm of her hand came up so quickly to connect with his cheek with a resounding crack. Her hand stung alot more than what she had probably inflicted on him of course.

"That.. that was not .. a sn.. snog. That was a kiss and I did not want you to kiss me" her eyes blazed with indignation now, how dare he treat her like any of his groupies.
"I am not one of your silly girls for you to play games with".

Glad that they were far from the maddening crowd, she turned to stomp away from him through the thick snow. Trilby's mouth tingled from the contact of his lips on hers and she cursed inwardly that she had for the briefest moment wanted more, much more.

Xavier looked at her with annoyance, he didn't like getting slapped very much by girls. It made him feel rejected and he hated being rejected more than he hated anything else on this foresaken planet. His father rejected him at birth, his siblings rejected him at first sight, so he didn't need more rejection from the girls and peers at school. His icy blue eyes stared at Trilby before he snorted and turned his head off to look at the school, he liked Trilby and she pretty much just slammed his pride into the snow. "Fine little miss Prefect, I thought I had a reason to like you...but I guess you had proven me wrong." He shrugged his broad shoulders before he turned on his heels and looked off. Now he needed to sulk off and rant, or get the company from someone who appreciated his advances and teasing. Whatever he did, it was going to have to heal his damaged pride before the next Quidditch game, where he would likely pull another stunt or two in bugging her once again.

Trilby was incredulous, he was the one acting as if he had been insulted. Stomping her heel in the snow she became utterly exasperated as she placed her hands on her hips. She didn't become upset or angered very easily but when she did, it was usually for a damn good reason.

"And why did you think that you had good reason to like me?" she retorted after his retreating figure, "because you thought I would be a walk over. Someone so easily manipulated. Well think again... if.. if you had wanted to kiss me, then be a man about it and not some silly school boy".
Folding her own hands about her now to keep some heat in she began to stomp through the snow back to the school. Xavier Snow had well and truly upset her mood, turned everything upside down until she seriously did not know what was up and what was down anymore. She wanted just to find her best friend now and have a good rant and rave.
