Nicolette swatted a honeybee away form her face as she read over a list of things she had to do today. 'Grocery Shopping, mail some letters, pick out some curtains..' Her nose wrinkled as she continued to read over the list of things that needed to get sometime today, the thing was...Niccy was far to bored to really do anything productive. "Boooring." She said to herself as she tossed the list into the trash. She'd just tell Cecily that she lost the list or something on accident, which wasn't rare for her to do. Her Outfit sort of matched her mood today, cute and bubbly. Then again, when did Niccy rarely feel anything else than her usual chipper attitude. She had amazing friends, a boyfriend, and probably the funnest job in the world!

She smiled at random people as passed them, they always gave her weird looks. It's not like it bothered her though, she was used to her bubbly attitude scaring people off. But to be honest, she'd rather be happy and have people think she is weird for it then be miserable and have everyone think she was completely normal. Nicolette felt that not enough people in the world shared their feelings, let their happiness show. And in a world where misery was starting to rule, every little bit of happiness needed to be shown. "Gah that darn bee!" She hissed when the honeybee once again flew into her face. She swatted it once again and huffed, that bug was really asking to meet the bottom of her shoe! 'If it wasn't for the delicious honey they made and they pretty flowers they helped bloom I'd totally go around squashing bees like crazy.' She giggled to herself, as she turned and continued to walk down the street. She wasn't going to let some obnoxious bee ruin her fun today.

Patricia made her way around the streets of Brightstone Village. It was hard enough for her to actually leave the castle today, the solitude of ther dorm room was far too tempting, but when she saw that not everyone was leving for the Village today she thought it would be best to get out of the castle, and just clear her mind. Thinking back to the past few months Patricia stuffed her hands in her jacket pockets and lowered her head to hide her face from the public. She had spent the last night crying again, it was something she had done a lot recently now. She had hid it well for a while now but out in the public she didn't know how long it would take for anyone to notice so she placed a pair of dark sunglasses on. Thankfully it was coming back into the warmer weather so it wouldn't seem so out of place.

Patricia wandered aimlessly, having no real interest to be here she didn't bother with doing any shopping. Instead she found a quiet spot near a tree. There was an empty bench near a pond, Patricia smiled as she saw no one was around. Taking the bench she pulled her legs up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. A grim looked doned Patricia's face today, but this was no surprise Patricia was finding it harder and harder to give herself reason to get up every morning, her life was a mess and she didn't know how to fix it. Letting out a small sigh she watched the pigeons swoop down to the ground, searching for food, wishing her life could be as carefree.

Nicolette finally managed to get rid of the bee, where it went she didn't really know or care. At least it was gone and out of her face, even if it did make the cutest little buzzing noise. Smiling to herself she shrugged her shoulders and continued to walk, Nicolette could never really hate anything in life. Her heart was too big and vivid for something like that. Every living thing just wans to be loved, or to belong somewhere...most of the time anyways. When Nicolette passed an extremely gloomy looking girl sitting underneath a tree, she immediately halted and turned her head to look at her.

'Hey...I think i know her from somewhere. Oh yeah! She was at Nat's wedding...maybe I should see if she's okay.' Nicolette walked over until she was standing right in front of the girl. Her golden eyes sparkled as she stared down at the girl. Boy did somebody need a hug...big time. "Helloooo there! You look awful bummed, you feeling alright?" Nicolette asked in the sweetest tone she could manage.

Patricia felt the warm sun beaming down on her disappear, lifting her head up she saw an older woman standing over her. Why is this random woman talking to me? Patricia thought to herself, confused. The sweetness in the woman's tone of voice was somewhat foreign to her, the last time another had tried to be sweet to her was the day before she left for Hogwarts and that was her mum - someone she'd still rather not talk too. Lifting her sunglasses off her face, showing her red eyes, she looked at the woman, maybe she's not a ramdom woman Patricia thought to herself as she looked at the woman, she did look somewhat familiar. Shrugging her shoulders at the womans question, "Have you ever just had one of those days where everything goes from bad to worse?" she asked. Before the woman could answer Patricia continued, "Yeah well I've had them for the past four months." she said, placing her head on her knees again.

Nicolette immediately felt for this poor girl and decided that she would try her best to cheer her up. Softly sitting down on the grass next to her she gave the girl a soft smile, she understood exactly how this girl felt. Niccy herself had gone through at least 23 years of torture. Even though she didn't know the girl well she brought a hand over to the Pat the girls back softly, this girl was clearly upset about something, it showed so much that it Nicolette wondered how anyone could leave this poor girl alone. "Hey, I know your upset....but bumming around about it is never going to help you get over it." Nicolette reached into her gray sweater pocket and pulled out a bag of sweets that she had bought along in case she had gotten hungry while attempting to do her errands. "Heehee, try one of these! Sweets are step one to always curing a broken soul." She waved the bag of candy around in front of the girls face attempting to get some sort of smile form her.

"I'm Nicolette by the way, but everyone calls me Niccy." She beamed as she introduced herself. Her name was one that was not easily forgotten, mostly because she bugged people to the point where there never would be a way for them to forget her. She just hoped the girl would open up more, maybe even possibly to the point where she might discuss what out her in such a sour mood.

Patricia felt the woman sit down beside her, she found it strange how someone was actually taking time out of their life to do so. Her friends had given up pretty quickly at trying to talk to her and she had even stopped receiving letters from home, it was as if everyone was just forgetting about her, and she had become so used to it the woman's kindness was over whelming. Patricia let out a light scoff as the woman said bumming about wasn't going to help her, but it's all Patricia felt like doing recently. Sure she had tried to keep herself busy with school work and setting up the Cooking Club, along with joining all her regular clubs, and she felt that she was getting better bit by bit but being around all the happy faces of Brightstone that day had upset her. She was ignoring her friends and she would have to do a lot to have them forgive her and she didn't know if they ever would.

Patricia saw a bag of sweets in front of her eyes, Patricia glanced at the woman momentarily, she seemed to upbeat and peepy, something Patricia had considered herself once upon a time. Not wanting to seem rude she forced a small smile on her face and dug her hand into the sweets, taking one out she placed it in her mouth and muttered a small, "Thanks." As Patricia ate her sweet she heard the woman introduce herself. Nicolette? Nicolette? Nicolette? Patricia said to herself over and over again before she finally realised where she saw the woman before. Swallowing her sweet she looked up at the woman with wide and said, "You were at the wedding weren't you? One of Nataliia's bridesmaids?" she asked, almost certain she was right.

one of Nicolette's eyebrows rose when the girl had asked if she was at the wedding. Guess people recognized her more than she often gave them credit for. Soon her curious gaze had faded and she was smiling once again. "Haha yep! I was the maid of honor actually." The wedding had been so much fun, Nicolette still remembered every detail of it too, she didn't think she would forget about it for the longest time. Grabbing one of the sweets from the bag she popped it into her mouth and chewed it slowly before she turned to look at the girl once again. "You were at the wedding too right? Other than that I really have no clue who you are, sorry!" Nicolette had seen this girl at the wedding, but who she was related to or why she was there was completely lost to her, perhaps she was related to the groom or something since Niccy was pretty sure she'd know who she was if she was related to Nataliia.

Patricia nodded as Niccy confirmed what she already knew, of course she didn't know she was maid of honor but Patricia was right nonetheless. Patricia's thoughts went back to the wedding, she had loved the day, everything was so nice and Joseph and Nataliia looked perfect together, and they were - well are. Patricia couldn't believe that Nataliia was going to be giving birth soon, it was strange thinking she was going to an aunt soon. Patricia let a soft smile spread across her lips at the thought of holding her little niece. Patricia hadn't thought about this in so long, she had been wallowing in self pity for sometime now she hadn't seen much of the brighter things. Patricia reminded herself to thank Niccy, no one had really shown much kindness to her lately and if it wasn't for her making the effort to talk to her today, Patricia probably would be crying now - again.

Patricia nodded her head when Niccy asked if she was at the wedding, although she almost wasn't allowed to go, thankfully Professor Rambolt had given her permission - even though she was going to the wedding herself. Patricia blushed slightly when she realised she hadn't introduced herself, "Sorry, Patricia Rogers." she said, pride in her voice when she called herself 'Rogers' even though she had 'Styx' blood in her she would never admit it. "Joseph is my brother." she said with a small smile, but it quickly vanished again, "I mean half brother." she grimaced, it was the first time she had called Joseph her half brother, she didn't like how it sounded.

Nicolette's eyebrows once again raised themselves in curiosity when Patricia seemed to clearly be having trouble trying to decide whether her brother was half or not. "Sooo...which is he?" She asked with a small chuckle. Patricia seemed a bit upset by this and she hoped that nothing was too wrong with him being her brother. Nicolette never really had spoken to Joseph before, and it was most likely due to the fact that he was a muggle. And Niccy had never really gotten along with muggles too well. 'Wait does that mean that she's a- she couldn't be. How else would she be in Brightstone unless she knew something about magic?' Nicolette coughed to dismiss her thoughts so she could hear Pat's answer.

Patricia's thoughts were going back and fourth, fighting among themselves, should she really be calling Joseph (or Chris for that matter) her half brother? She still called Gerard her dad even though he technically wasn't. Should it make a difference for her brothers? They were her brothers for 14 and a half years of her life, why change now? When Niccy questioned Patricia on which was it Patricia let out a small sigh, she may as well tell her right? If she didn't didn't hear it from her she could easily ask Nataliia, "Technically he is my half brother, but until a few months ago I always thought he was my full brother." she explained. "I found out my mum had an affair with Kalif Styx," pure poison in her mouth as she spoke those two words, "Just a little over 14 years ago." she finished her sentence. Patricia didn't even know if Niccy knew who he was, but he was at the wedding and Nataliia's half brother so she probably did.

Nicolette listened carefully as Pat explained why she had changed her mind so suddenly, it didntt really seem like that big of a deal. With a soft Nod, Niccy attempted to show Patricia that she understood how she felt and brought a jellybean up to her mouth and popped it in quickly as she continued to listen. However she didn't expect Pat to say his name, and especially in the same sentence as father. Spitting out the jellybean quickly she wiped her mouth and turned to look at Patricia with widened gold eyes. 'She looks nothing like him though! But...they both seem sort of moody.' Nicolette shook her head and cracked a small smile, life was just full of surprises.

"Wow, that big meanie head is your daddy?" She turned and snickered off to the side so Patricia wouldn't think that she was laughing at her. Niccy wasn't really laughing at Pat, she was morely laughing over the fact that this was an extremely odd twist of fate. "Is that what your so bummed about?" Nicolette asked with a small grin and shake of her head, she was really glad she decided to chuck the chores list now.

Patricia lifted her head as she saw Niccy spit her sweet out. She must know him then she said to herself with a small scoff. Patricia felt that sickly feeling again, that she only got when she thought about Professor Styx being her father. Patricia frowned when she saw Niccy smile, Patricia didn't really find the whole thing particularly pleasant in anyway at all. Patricia raised her eyebrows when she heard Niccy speak again. Letting out a short laugh. "Yes, that big meanie head is my daddy." she had never heard anyone ever refer to him as big meanie head but it did suit him perfectly. When Niccy asked Patricia if that's what she was so bummed about Patricia just nodded her head, her expression must lighter now. "It's a lot to take on. And I haven't told anyone, bar you, I've just had it on my chest for the past 4 months and no amount of crying helps." she said leaning her chin on her knees again, a sigh escaping her lips.

Nicolette continued to giggled softly, the poor girl seemed absolutely crushed by this...but somehow to her it was the funniest thing in the world. Bringing a hand out she softly patted the girl on the head before she retreated her hand and smiled at her. Maybe Patricia didn't quite seem the sunshine obviously lighting this girls light, maybe Nicolette would have to knock some sense into her pretty little head. "Okay, well he can't be that bad." Nicolette tried to reason with her, chances were that it wasn't going to work, but it never hurt to try and see.

"Crying and moping doesn't fix anything, you have to smile like you mean it kiddo. Cause life is gonna pass you by if you just sit there and take pity on yourself." Standing up quickly she wiped some access grass and leaves off of her dress before she bent over and grabbed Patricia's arm, she had just the place to cheer her up. "Come on, I have something to show you." She beckoned.

"We are talking about the same Kalif Styx here, right?" Patricia said in a sarcastic tone to Niccy's response. To Patricia this was one of the worst things that could ever happen to her. She loved her father, Gerard not Kalif, and not having him as her dad meant her world was falling apart. For all her life her parents were her world, more so her daddy, she was a typical daddy's little girl and she knew it, she would never have that with Kalif - thankfully.

When Niccy continued to talk Patricia felt as if she was lecturing her on how to feel. No one knew what she was going through right now, no one had the right to tell her feel. This is exactly why she had been avoiding people for all this time, she knew she would here the same thing she was hearing now. She knew this because it is exactly how she would react if anyone else were in her situation and she was on the other side. Patricia felt like shouting at Niccy, voicing her own thoughts but she was too tired to fight back, instead she let her have her say. Maybe she'll get bored and move on, everyone else has. she thought to herself. Feeling Niccy grab her arm Patricia looked up at her, confused. Not bothering to try and fight back - Patricia could tell Niccy was strong just from her grasp - Patricia stood up and followed Niccy. "Where are you taking me?" she asked, a slight flicker of excitement in her voice.

Nicolette turned and winked at Patricia. She continued to pull the young girl along until they reached a large looking field that was at the very outskirts of Brightstone. Rarely anyone came here, so Nicolette often used it as a place to go to when she was feeling down or upset. "See that Tree over there?" She asked in a soft tone as she pointed to it, even though it was the only tree in the field.

"I always go to this tree when I'm feeling down." Nicolette walked over to to it and beckoned Patricia to follow her. Once she was close enough to the tree she lent against it and smiled. "It calms me because this tree has said to have been around for hundreds of years, a forest used to stand here ya know." Nicolette figured that Pat wouldn't get her point at first, so she was going to try to explain this in an easy way for her. "All the other trees were knocked down but this one, I always think that if I can stand tall like this tree, then I can make it through anything." Nicolette pretty much guessed that the girl still might not get it, so with a small sigh she pushed herself way from the tree stared Patricia in this eyes with her golden ones. " I know your upset kid, but open you pretty brown eyes and look around! Your alive, you still have parents, you have friends, and you have a future. There are worse things in life than having Kalif Styx for a father." Nicolette knew this for a fact, and every day of her life she wished she had known this as a younger age. It would've saved her a lot of misery.

Patricia wondered where Niccy was taking her as they got further and further from the village, she hoped Niccy would stop soon as she would get into trouble for going too far from the boundaries to which her permission slip give her. Seeing a field a head and Niccy slowing down as she eased her grasp Patricia figured that this must be where Niccy was taking her. Approaching the clear field Patricia let a small smile form on her lips, having grown up in the country side Patricia was used to scenes like this but they never ceased to amaze her, just their shear beauty was enough to take her breath away. But Patricia was still confused, why had Niccy taken her to this exact spot? There was a number of fields all equally as pretty surrounding them - and closer to the village - they also had more trees in them. Patricia noticed one standing on it's own, it was kind of sad. One tree, standing along in a big field, it made her think about how alone she was in the big world, with no one around her, to support her, to keep her company.

Turning to face Niccy as she started talking Patricia listened to her words. Patricia listened to the woman talk, wondering why she was been given a history lecture on a tree, it didn't seem that special - it was just a tree after all. As Niccy kept talking the feeling of being alone grew within the Hufflepuff teen. All the trees been knocked down made her think of everyone around her leaving her. Although Niccy's words slowly but surely began to sink in and Patricia started to realise what she was getting at. Sure her life did suck at the minute but she did have to let it go sooner or later. If Patricia was being honest with herself she hated the way she had been acting as of late and she knew her friends didn't deserve it. Although Patricia still hated having Professor Styx as her father, no one knew so she could easily pretend that everything was the way it always had been. Sure it may take her friends some convincing but they were her friends after all and that's what friends did for one an other. Looking up at Niccy Patricia smiled, a real smile this time. "Thank you." she said sweetly, tears forming in her eyes - of happiness this time - as she gave Niccy a hug. Patricia couldn't believe how one person could make such a difference in a short period of time.

Nicolette smiled down at Patricia before she wrapped her arms around the young teen and stared at her favorite tree with a nostalgic look in her eyes, the day she found this tree was like a real wake up call to her. In fact, she had found it the day she had run away from living with a man who ruined most of her life, he was the one person whom her heart would never forgive, the one person who she could allow herself to hate. He was the darkness inside her heart, and she would do anything to keep him away and protect the her life and the people who have made her the happiest she's ever been. "Your welcome Patricia." She brought a hand down to wipe the tears away from her face, sure they were happy tears. but they were gonna make Niccy feel all weepy too if she continued to see them.

"Life can be a little crazy sometimes, but whenever you need a place to think, you can always come here. My tree isn't too picky." She joked, hoping to get a laugh out of the girl. Nicolette felt productive today, even if she hadn't done her chores, she helped someone who really needed to find their way again. "Smile like you mean in deary, life will be way more fun that way." she added in quickly as she released her arms from around the girl and brought one of them up to tuck a strand of her blonde hair away from her face. Hey...you go you Hogwarts right?" She asked, remembering someone mentioning that Pat went to school there.

Patricia felt Niccy return her embrace, despite only knowing her for a short time she felt really close to her. It seemed like they had both a load in common but Patricia didn't know where that was coming from but Niccy did seem to be able to relate to her. Patricia didn't mind though, it was the first time in months where she had felt like everything was going to be OK, it felt nice to feel like it again.

Patricia let out a small laugh at Niccy's somewhat lame attempt at a joke, but she took it for what it was worth. Patricia made a mental note of where she was at right now because she would like to return here someday, maybe when everything was back to the was it's supposed to be, she could reflect on how silly she was. But also for when she was at Hogwarts she could just imagine the tree and come back whenever she wanted. A smile now pasted to her face Patricia pushed all thoughts out of her head that would make the smile disappear, from now on she was going to try and go back to the way she was. "Mhmm. Fourth Year Hufflepuff." Patricia said in reponce to Niccys question. "Why do you ask?" she asked in return. Patricia thought it would be somewhat obvious that she attended HNZ, she was in New Zealand after all and she was the right age to attend the school.

Nicolette's smile widened, she had almost figured that Patricia was older because she acted pretty mature, but then again being a Fourth Year seemed to suit her. "Your in the exact same year as Theodore and Alyssa!" Niccy exclaimed boldly, figuring that Pat might know who those two were, neither of them have really ever been the shy type. When they were around most people knew about it, especially when they were together. Even if they were a bunch of brats, they also held a strong place in Niccy's heart.

"I remembering when I went to school, that was sooooo long ago. I even went to school with your da-errr...Kalif." Nicolette cut herself off in mid-sentence. She figured that Pat wouldn't really want him to be mentioned as father, so she stopped herself. Nicolette had gone to school with him though, she only managed to remember a short time ago when going through one of her old yearbooks.

Patricia waited to hear why Nicolette wanted to know why she attended Hogwarts, it probably was nothing but at least it was a way to carry on the conversation. Niccy was really nice and Patricia liked talking to her, so she was happy to cover any topic that she brought up, except Kalif – they already discussed that enough. But what she heard Niccy say was so unexpected that Patricia thought she mis-heard her at first. “How do you know the Snows?” she asked perplexed. Although Patricia couldn’t really say she knew them either. Alyssa was nice enough and the two girls got on. But Theodore was a completely different kettle of fish. Patricia never really liked Theodore after what happened in first year, he was so mean to her and the only one she hadn’t patched things up with – and she didn’t want to either.

Patricia began to laugh as Niccy started to talk about when she went to school. Patricia found it strange that, unlike most adults, she emphasied that it was a long time ago, most tried to hide their age. Although, observing Niccy, she didn’t seem that old at all – early 30s at least. Patricia cringed instantiously when she mentioned she went to school with Kalif. Even before Niccy had corrected herself and said Kalif, Patricia knew what she meant, What the hell? she thought to herself. How could she be used to Kalif Styx being her father that she would respond to it? “Small world huh?” Patricia said trying to not linger on the subject too long.

Judging by almost obvious Patricia's reaction, she definitely knew the Snow twins. She often like to make sure those two were doing alright, especially with their father making it incredibly hard for her to see them now. Looking down at Pat she grinned and rubbed the back of her head softly. "I've know Teddy and Aly since they were babies. I've been around them for awhile because I've known their father pretty much his whole life." Nicolette almost snickered at the memories she had with Alphonse. When they were younger she used to bully him all the time, now she really couldn't do that with him, he was much bigger and stronger that he was when he was younger. "I adore the Snow twins, Alyssa is so sweet and Teddy...well he's not so friendly but I don't really blame him. His father puts too much pressure on his shoulders." Honestly, Theodore was too young for the kinds of things Alphonse expected him to handle, and one day that boy is gonna crack and cause an awful lot of issues for everyone. In fact, most teens these days had too much to handle, no wonder most of them were moody as hell.

"Are you doing well in school? Have any preferred classes?" Nicolette vaguely wondered. Patricia seemed smart and probably excelled at many classes.

Patricia was surprised when Niccy said she had known the Snow twins since they were babies. “It really is small world then, huh?” Patricia repeated her words. But this fact didn't bug Patricia, she barely knew the twins despite being in their year - she would just about call Alyssa her friend, but nothing more. Patricia nodded her head in agreement when she talked about Alyssa and Theodore, scoffing lightly at how she paused before describing Theodore. She didn't know about their personal life, at all, so when Niccy mentioned how their father put a lot of pressure of Theodores' shoulders, she felt sorry for him – a basic instinct when she heard about people's hard times.

When Niccy asked Patricia about school the Hufflepuff teen shrugged her shoulders. “I do well in school, pretty much a straight 'O' student since first year.” she said, rather proud of that fact. When asked about her preferred classes she thought a moment. She always found this a hard question to answer. She loved all her classes – sure some more than others – but she did find it hard to choose an absolute favourite. “Umm, I love all my classes, each have their own good and bad points I suppose.” she said rather vaguley. “History of Magic, Astronomy, Arithmancy are all amazing classes. Oddly enough, I have a good knack for Herbology, believe it or not.” she said, finding the irony in that fact now.

Patricia sounded like she did extremely well in school, in fact Nicolette was slightly astounded at how well this girl seemed to be handling herself in school. If she didn't make Head Girl or at least Prefect sometime within her time than Niccy would seriously wonder who lacked in that judgment. When Patricia stated that she seemed to have a knack for Herbology, that was sure irony right there. "That is ironic." Nicolette stated and put her hands on her hips as she thought about it. Although she wouldn't say anything, she already noticed a few things that were similar between Pat and her father.

"I was pretty good in school. Got O's in pretty much everything except History of Magic and Arithmancy." Nicolette always remembered History of Magic to be awful boring, so thats possibly why she ended up getting an EE in that class. And Arithmancy just ended up flying over her head, she could never quite grasp it. "I however have knack for Herbology and even more of a knack in Transfiguration." Nicolette twirled a strand of hair around her finger as she spoke. Many people didn't know she was an Animagus, or how skilled she was in that subject, it was often quite entertaining to see their reactions. However she wasn't really sure if Pat really cared about that class as much as she had when she was younger and instead shrugged it off. "Ten bucks says you'll at least make Prefect next year." She said knowingly.

Patricia shook her head when Niccy spoke the exact words she was thinking at that moment. Life was getting too confusing for the Hufflepuff teen, but she was going to try and not let it bother as much any more, she was young and had to focus on having fun - like the Halloween Ball that was coming up, she still had to figure out an outfit. She's need to get a start on that, and soon. Patricia fell off her train of thought when Niccy started talking about when she was in school, Patricia had never really heard any adults talking about their school - well wizarding adults anyway.

Patricia laughed softly when her own strengths turned out to be Niccy's weaknesses. But she was a bit surprised when it both turned out they were good at Herbology, "Was he any good at Herbology?" Patricia asked, surprising herself by the question, why did she care? At Niccy's next comment Patricia looked up at her with a bright smile on her face. "You have no idea how much I want to be a Prefect. I don't know why, but it's something I've aimed for since first year." she said with a laugh, she had never told anyone her secret of wanting to be a Prefect, not that it was a secret per-say, just something she preferred to keep to herself - she knew how goodie - goodies always got teased, one of the reasons she never really liked her muggle primary school.

Nicolette rolled her eyes when she asked if her dad was any good at Herbology, she may have been a year lower than him, but she remembered quite clearly that he was pretty much brilliant at anything he did. "Tch, he was good at anything he did." She shrugged her shoulders, she wasn't too bummed about it because there was one thing she could do that barely anyone ever had the chance to learn. That made her fell proud about herself for learning it and being one of those special people in the world that had a rarely ability. "But I can turn into an Animagus, do I suppose to get kudos for that." She said out loud as she rested her hands on her hips one more.

"Any boys you fancy yet?" Niccy knew she was being awful nosy, but it was fun to hea about other's lives. It made her feel less alone then she often did.
