Growing up, Sloane thought her name was boring and very traditional. In primary school, she would think that the other girls had much prettier names than her own, and that her's wasn't special. As her siblings came around however, especially those born on her fathers Irish side, Sloane is now very aware that things could have been more difficult for her, and that while her name might not be that "interesting" at least it is easy to spell and pronounce, and most people she meets don't have a problem with it.

Sloane was born almost two weeks early from her due date, in Waikanae on the outskirts of Obsidian Harbour in New Zealand. Her father was visiting the country in an effort to sort out his Visa into New Zealand when Esmerelda went into labour. Daniel was able to stay with her for just 19 days before returning to Ireland, whereby Esmerelda was left with her own family and Sloane. The birth was smooth with no complication, and lasted just 4 and a half hours. Daniel did eventually move to New Zealand for a few years to marry Esmerelda, but the first few months were tough on Sloane's mother as she had to adapt to having a baby around the house.

Muggleborn. Both Esmerelda and Daniel have no trace of a magical line in their blood, and have shown no indication that they are magical themselves. It's unclear whether any of Sloane's sisters have picked up the magical trait, but only time will tell. Sloane was shocked upon hearing from Hogwarts for the first time, for she hadn't even been aware of making anything happen by accident, as it was rumoured some other students could. Being a muggleborn student, Sloane has struggled to fit in to the magical world, as she feels there is a lack of support between transferring from one world to the other, and starting at Hogwarts with students who have known their blood status their whole life has been hard.

Esmerelda Ari 22 years older than Sloane. Esmerelda is the daughter of two New Zealanders who was born and bred at the coast. Growing up, Esmerelda was more or less allowed to do her own thing, with her parents not able to do much to keep her in line. During her teen years, Esmerelda rebelled considerably against her parents, pushing boundaries and testing them. Esmerelda's parents did their best to ensure their daughter grew up with the traditions and culture of their family, but this for the most part ended with Esmerelda's upbringing as she didn't want to feel as though she was "trapped" in a life that she hadn't created for herself. As a result of her own upbringing, Esmerelda is very keen for Sloane to make her own mark in the world as opposed to telling her how she should live her life, but this does not always bode well for Sloane who feels as though her mum doesn't always care about what she's doing. The only time that she's really felt as though her mum has given her proper consideration and noticed her actions, was after finding out that she was magical, where she was given "special treatment" in the family. Sloane currently resides just outside Obsidian Harbour with her mum and younger sister Florence, and her step father, although the pair are not married. Sloane would say she doesn't have a bad relationship with her mum, but it could certainly be stronger as she doesn't really get much of a chance to bond with her, and is just left to her own devices. Daniel Wilson 26 years older than Sloane. Daniel is of Irish descent, and met Esmerelda in spring during his time at University in New Zealand while studying Geology. The pair dated for a few years before Esmerelda fell pregnant with Sloane, and after acquiring the necessary paperwork and Visa to move to New Zealand permanently and marry the mother of his new born daughter, Daniel did so. The pair were married for just under three years however when things fell apart. Sloane's parents relationship is tense at the best of times, and she rarely now sees her father unless he comes to visit New Zealand which is about once every two years. Sloane blames her father a little bit for the breakdown in their family, but she can also see and understand that both her parents are happy as they are now, and it's just Sloane that doesn't feel as though she has a place between them. Daniel is very outgoing and loves to learn, and Sloane often thinks that she is more like her father than her mother, but she does find it hard to open up to him because he is not as openly emotional than her mother. He is currently a Professor at a muggle University in Ireland.

Caoimhe Wilson 4 years younger than Sloane. Daniel realised that he was falling for another woman when he met Caoimhe and Niamh's mother, Brooklyn. Sloane's eldest sister Caoimhe (kwee-va) was born just three months after her own parents had split, which indicated that Daniel was having a relationship with Brooklyn before separating from Esmerelda. Daniel moved back to Ireland to be with Brooklyn, but stayed in touch with Sloane as much as he could as the father of another new born. Sloane has only met Caoimhe a few times before, but they get on quite well. Caoimhe is a quiet girl but she is polite and easy to get along with after finding common ground. It's unknown whether she holds any magical abilities.
Niamh Wilson 6 years younger than Sloane. Two years after Daniel and Brooklyn welcomed Caoimhe, they adopted Niamh. Niamh was a friend of Caoimhe as they had met at nursery, and it was after Niamh's own parents went through an accident that left them unable to look after their small daughter, that Daniel and Brooklyn stepped in to foster her. They officially made the adoption official when Niamh was four years old. Niamh is an incredibly chatty girl who loves to be the centre of attention, although Sloane has only met her on one occasion before. It's unknown whether she holds any magical abilities.
Florence Ari 8 years younger than Sloane. Esmerelda met her new partner Lachlan a few years after her separation from Daniel, and the pair found themselves pregnant once more when Sloane was 7 years old. Florence was born at home, and has always been known to be an outgoing and interesting child. Sloane found it very hard to adapt to having a new sister in the house and as such is not very close with Florence, but she believes that having her around has done good things for her parents as it has made them feel youthful again. Sloane had always been doing her own thing, but now that Florence is at home this is even more apparent, and time with either Esmerelda or Lachlan is rare. It's unknown whether she holds any magical abilities, however Lachlan's father was a squib. This was only discovered once Sloane made the discovery that she was magical herself, and Lachlan introduced his own knowledge about the magical world, however small that may have been. Lachlan knew very little of his father's father, and so it's unknown as to his own bloodline, however Lachlan is believed not to have any magical abilities.
