Nolan was out for the day, walking around the school grounds. He didn't really know where he was walking, his mind settled somewhere else, daydreaming about god knows what. The boy realised he was now in the area of the lake. He looked around and noticed a stone nearby and decided to skip a rock, though it didn't go very far.

Ngawaiata was at the lake because the school was too busy and she saw a boy she knew was friends with her cousin and he was skipping rocks and she came over and picked up a rock and threw it too but it didn't skip at all.

Nolan noticed a younger girl nearby and watched as she tried to skip a rock. He frowned a little and picked a rock. "Maybe try it like this? Maybe?" Nolan says with a small smile, as he demonstrates, hoping that it may help. But he was no expert.

Ngawaiata was surprised when the older boy talked to her but she watched how he did it and tried again, pleased when her rock actually bounced this time. "Cool."

Nolan smiled when the girl had gotten it this time. "Awesome! You're even better than me" Nolan says with a chuckle. He picked up another rock nearby his foot. "Wanna have a small competition?"

The boy reminded Ngawaiata of Manaia, and she could tell why they were friends. "Sure." She said, thinking she might as well make friends with her cousin's friends.

He smiled when the girl agreed with the small competition. He picked up another rock near his foot, getting ready to count down. "You ready? 3... 2... 1... Go!" Nolan says as he starts to skip his rock.

Ngawaiata selected a rock and waited for the older boy's countdown before she threw, groaning as her rock plopped into the lake after just one skip. "Bugger." She grumbled under her breath.
