Zach was glad to be back at Hogwarts, he felt much more at home at the school than he did back with his adoptive mother. The first couple of weeks of the term had gone by in a blur, before he knew it Quidditch had started and he was already knee deep in school work. Despite being his home, sometimes school got too much for Zach to handle and when that happened he would retreat to the lakefront, it was his favourite place in the school and it allowed him to be alone (sometimes) and get lost in his thoughts. It was also the place he met Prue, who he would later ask to the Yule ball. She was a good friend to Zach during his first couple of years at Hogwarts but now he hoped that she could be more, first things first he had to see her. He had looked for her during the sorting ceremony, but he couldn't spot the young Gryffindor through the crown, but he figured he would eventually see her out on the grounds as one of the things that they bonded over was their mutual love of the grounds, especially the lake.

It was a warm morning with no wind, perfect to sit out by the lake and relax. Zach removed his robe and propped it up against a tree along with his bag and leaned against it. He spent a considerable amount of time levitating stones and skimming them along the lake watching for any movement. As his mind began to wonder he thought back to the first time he was out by the lake, and the Yule ball that followed. He couldn't help but wonder if Prue would agree to go with him again.

Prudence smiled, happy to feel the sun on her face again. She had been cooped up the past few days studying, and couldn't help but get out this time around. After all, she deserved a bit of rest and relaxation. She had recently seen Professor King about her animagus transformation, or the possibility of such, and was thrilled to know that she would have the opportunity to become an animagi - so long as she was following the rules set by the school and the ministry. She was more than determined to pass all the tests she needed so that she could follow her dreams. The brunette made her way across the lawn, not heading anywhere in particular. Her brown locks for once were still on her shoulders, as there was little to no wind. The perfect day to relax. Soon it would be back to the books. She wondered if she would even go to the Yule ball this year with all the studying she had to do. Besides that, no one had asked her. She thought maybe she and Zach would go as friends again, but there was a small part that wanted to actually have a date to dance with. Not just to the fast music, but to the slow music too.

Sighing, she took a turn and headed toward the lake front. She wasn't sure what possessed her to head that way, but once she arrived she was glad. Even from a few yards away she could see Zach sitting by the water. As quietly as possible she snuck up behind him. She meant to cover his eyes and surprise him, but as she was just close enough to touch him she tripper. She landed next to him, pushing him forward slightly. "Well that wasn't what I meant to do." She said with a laugh. "Guess who?" She then asked, as she had planned before.

Zach wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings when he suddenly had someone falling next to him, he looked down to see that it was Prue who did her best to keep her composure and simply said guess who. Zach smiled and helped her get to her feet. "You certainly know how to make an entrance," He said with a slight chuckle. Zach had missed Prue greatly over the winter break, she had proved to be one of his best friends during his previous year at Hogwarts and had even been his date to the Yule ball and he was hoping she would accompany him again, this time perhaps as more than a friend. "Good to see you Prue, I see the holidays haven't improved your coordination," He said as she got to her feet. As she straightened herself up Zach looked over across the lake and remembered the first time they sat here together when they met for the first time. That had been a turning point for Zach as up to that point he had little in terms of a social life.

((Remember how I was nominated most likely to loose a topic - well yeah.))

"I am a very fancy person." Prue responded, while trying to clean some of the grass off her jeans. She felt a bit ridiculous now, but she and Zach were good friends, so they would laugh the situation off. She enjoyed the fact that they were so comfortable around each other. She only had a few friends she was like that with after all. "Oh yeah, me and my dads played drop. It's like catch, only I can't catch." She laughed at her own joke. Prudence took a breath of contentment as she sat by her friend, staring over the lake much in the same way that he had been. It was such a beautiful sight. She picked up a stone and managed to skip it a few times across the waves. "How are you? How was your break?" She wanted to ask more questions, but she would only embarrass herself in doing that.

(Well I was nominated for quickest to respond to an rp :r )

Zach dare not tell Prue just how much he had missed her over the holidays, he thought it would just embarrass her, he knew it would certainly embarrass him so he just smiled. "You certainly are fancy," He grinned as they both knew his comment was laced with sarcasm as was her own. Something about the Gryffindor cheered Zach up every time he saw her, no matter what mood he was in, she would lift him and put a smile on his face and one day he would tell her that. Today however was not that day. Today he was her friend. "I'm good Prue, I'm really good, I enjoyed my break it was good to spend some real time with my family but I'm really glad to be back here," He smiled. she of course was one of the reasons he was glad to be back. Zach was still smiling from Prue spectacular fall just a few moments before when he asked, "How about you, I assume you went home, did you have a good time, you must have a story?" He asked wondering if anything exciting happened over the holidays.

She laughed at his comments to her. He always had such a good sense of humor. It was a huge bonus to him being a loyal friend to her. When he brought up her break she gave a crooked smile. "Mine was interesting." She said first, breathing out a small laugh. "I have two sisters now. Turns out the woman who carried me for my dad's has two daughters, so i have two half sisters. They don't live together though - but one is in the same house as me." She laughed at the story, it was honestly a confusing situation.

"Of course my fathers wanted to meet you, but i told them maybe next holiday. They think it's adorable that we go to the Yule Balls together." Her cheeks flushed red at the thought. "They can be so embarrassing sometimes." She looked at her hands for a moment. "Speaking of which, Yule is coming up. Are we going together again this year?" Prue had figured they would go again as friends, but was unsure on if Zach would have found an actually date. After all, if Venn could find someone to go with to the dance, she was sure her friend Zach could as well.

Zach was amazed to hear what had happened over the summer, Prue had found out she had sisters and that one was even in the same house as her. That was frankly amazing and Zach could barely believe so much had happened in such a short space of time and he wondered if he would get to meet the new sisters. "Wow that's amazing, I err, hope I get to meet them," He said with a smile, of course he wondered how he would be introduced when the time came, friend? Yes at the moment that's what he was but he hoped it wouldn't be the case for much longer. Almost as if she knew what he was thinking she gave him an opening when she mentioned that her dads wanted to meet him and what they thought of them going to the Yule ball together. Of course they had been going as friends and when Prue asked if they would be going again Zach felt that it was his opportunity to float a new idea. "Yeah, I mentioned you to my mum, she thought it was cute but didn't seem as keen to meet you," Zach laughed hoping that it wouldn't upset Prue that his mother wasn't as enthusiastic as her dads. "Yeah, I was thinking about the Yule ball, I think we should go together but maybe we could go as more than friends and you could be my date?" He asked cautiously.
