Sixth Years: Lesson Six

Professor Nakamura couldn’t believe the semester had flown by so fast. Time flew when you were having fun, and Professor Nakamura did enjoy teaching. He stood at his desk, waiting for the students to enter the classroom. Once they did, he addressed them. “Welcome to your last lesson before exams. Tonight, we’ll be learning something a little different. This won’t be on your exam, but it is some good general knowledge. No doubt, if you live in New Zealand, you’ll be aware of the Matariki public holiday. It happens towards the end of June and signals the new year for Māori. You might know the cluster of stars by the name used in English, which is the Pleiades. It is a time of celebration but also of remembering those who have passed on. Anyway, Matariki heralds the time when those stars seemingly emerge above the horizon. I’d highly encourage you to observe the star cluster as it rises.”

Professor Nakamura hoped they would. He then shifted the subject. “I’d encourage you to spend the rest of your time studying, either here or at the library. Exams are coming up after all.” He gave them a smile that said he didn’t envy their position – Professor Nakamura didn’t remember exams fondly at his time at Mahoutokoro.

“If you have any questions, come to me, otherwise – study, and I’m sure you’ll do well.” He gave them all an encouraging smile and then took his seat to supervise the lesson.

Roleplay the lesson

The blonde made her way to the classroom and was kind of pleased with the fact that this was the last lesson of astronomy this year. In a way she got annoyed by it this year and it didn't got her interest. But she had been studying anyways and wanted to do well. They would learn something which wasn't on the exam and that he named that was confusing to June. He spoke of the mataraki public holiday and than her name was mentioned as month obviously. It was a short part of something she would never ever would have to remember again. The rest of the time they had they could study and June decided to go the the library to study further in calm, at least she hoped. June thanked the professor for the lessons and left to go study into the library and going through her notes and her books neccesary for astronomy.
