Sixth Years: Lesson Five

Angel was starting to grow restless with classes in the greenhouse again and was relieved when he got the okay to take his students on a bit of a jailbreak this afternoon. They were smart kids, so hopefully everything would go smoothly and no students would get lost or eaten. Burying any concerns under a layer of bravado, Angel greeted everyone cheerily once it looked like they were settled.

Alright, we’re going on a little adventure today. Everyone knows any herbologist worth their salt is just as good at identifying plants as they are at caring for them, so we’re going on a little field trip to work on your eye.” With a flick of his wand, Angel summon the bingo cards he’d put together earlier. “Everyone come grab a bingo card and then join me over here by the portkey. We’re heading out to the Aotearoa Wildlife Sanctuary in a minute when you’re ready.”

Once everyone was ready, Angel counted them down before the class grabbed the portkey, shaking his head to regain his bearings once they’d arrived at the Sanctuary. Portkey was by far one of his least favorite ways to travel. “Okay, I’m setting you loose now, so please be smart about this. Good rule of thumb; Don’t know what it is? Don’t touch it.”

Angel checked his pocket watch, doing some quick math in his head. None of his students should have classes after this, but he didn’t want anyone to miss dinner. “Alright, off you go. Get bingo and I’ll give you some house points, fill your card and you get a few more. If you’re not back in an hour we’re leaving without you, so don’t go too far, chop chop,” he said, clapping his hands. He trusted his sixth years to behave themselves. And he wouldn’t really leave them behind. Probably.

Mikael stepped into the Greenhouse, instantly frowning as he took note of his Head of House's unusual cheerfulness. He was not going to like this. He almost groaned at the idea of going out on a field trip. He wasn't planning on being a herbologist. And though he could identify these plants he wasn't exactly interested in partaking in such a juvenile activity. It was tedious. When the portkey activated, he decided to stick close to Hinata, guessing that she was planning on accomplishing the task so he would just follow her. Unfortunately, it seemed that his other cousin had similar ideas, and it was all Kael could do to not curse Theodore back to Hogwarts. In Scotland. It seemed like an age before the hour was up, and they had to return. He handed in his blank bingo card to the professor while his cousins - his companions for the whole field trip - handed in theirs in varied states of completion.

Theodore was quite interested when the Herbology professor announced that they would be going on a field trip, so much so that he actually let out a whoop. "Finally, a tour!" he crowed because he hadn't really been to New Zealand much even if his half-siblings lived here. He snagged a bingo card and glanced over it quite amusedly before heading on over to touch the portkey for their travel. "Portkeys really know how to ruin a day," he groaned as he stretched a little, while his stomach settled after that travel. While they were insanely useful, he never really liked travelling by portkey. As the professor let them go, Theodore decided to follow Mikael and his lovely cousin, slinging an arm over both individuals. "Now this is going to be fun," he said with a grin. And so he spent most of the walk egging Mikael on, stopping every now and then for a plant that seemed to catch any of their attention. Herbology wasn't Theodore's best subject but he had been paying attention to the lectures this semester even if it didn't seem like it. The others were a little harder for him to notice or remember, and when he tried to peek at Hinata's, he found a wand underneath his chin courtesy of Mikael, warning him not to cheat off of the Hufflepuff. He raised his hands in surrender but at least he did get a Bingo since he'd found the Flitterbloom, Puffapod, Flutterby, and Fanged Geraniums. At least he tried, compared to Mikael who just handed in a blank card even though the @rse had been with them the whole time and had definitely seen most if not all the plants. "I didn’t fill my card, but I have a bingo, my dignity is intact and I have no mysterious rashes," he said as he examined his arms, and even looked back as if to examine his butt through his robes, "I think that's definitely a win."

The blonde made her way to the greenhouse and gave her head of house an big smile and listened as he started. They would go on a adventure he told them and June was curious what that would be. She took an bingo card and they had to find plants it seemed. And June didn't hoped it were stupid ones or that could bite. But since they were learning about dangerous plants she hoped they wouldn't just run into one. But thankfully it was the wildlife sanctuary, which she thought was less scary perhaps. She touched the portkey and waited for them to arrive in the sanctuary. She was used to portkeys now, but she was always glad when it was over too in a way. They could go their own way and June made sure she would. It was fun because there was an game element and a winner element and June always wanted to be the best so she went on with it quickly. She knew how they looked like these plants. She walked and found her first plant soon, and hoped not everyone would follow her around. Since they were all looking at her ofcourse, because she was the best. She didn't liked the fanged plant on it though. She didn't need to touch the plant if ther eye was good and she figured it was. The most difficult were the more easy and calm plants who looked normal, but she could tell them apart and knew which was which. June went like a crazy person and made sure she was quick and when she arrived on time back she had her full card and showed it to her head of house with an grin. June had been spotting the plants and just was smart about it. She didn't liked plants but ofcourse her brain worked and she paid attention. Before they knew it she was back at the castle again.

With the semester reaching the business end Bailey expected things to start getting serious but Professor Castillo seemed to have other ideas, once she had settled into her seat in the greenhouse the professor announced they would be going on a field trip to the wildlife sanctuary and would be playing a game of bingo while there based on what plants they were able to find. Bailey grabbed a card and touched the portkey so she could be transported to the sanctuary. After they took a minute to shake off the portkey they were let lose around the sanctuary,

Bailey got distracted by everything she saw in the sanctuary and completely forgot about the bingo card, she most likely saw most of the items she had been asked to find, but she didn’t check them off her card. When she returned to the classroom by the portkey she picked up her bag and made her way out of the greenhouse.
