Mylie was not a big fan of writing letters. Even as child she liked to speak face to face with someone rather than write them a letter. The sound of a person's voice was a lot different than reading words in Mylie's own voice. Mylie needed to write a letter to her older sister Amycus, though. The last letter she received from her sister in New Zealand made her feel worried about Amycus' well-being. Amycus liked Hawaii better and hated the man their mother was married to. His name was Gregory Douglas and he was a New Zealand Business man. He took them from their home in Hawaii and Gregory was also a muggle. Mylie was young but she clearly remembered her mother telling her that muggles were the lower sort. If that was true then Mylie did not understand why her mother married Gregory. He treated all of them badly anyways. With a quill in her hand she wrote the letter to Amycus down on parchment.

<SIZE size="50">Amycus,

You want to run away from home? I know you do not like it there but running away is not a good idea for you to go through. Mother and Gregory could find you lot a faster than you could run. Then when you get home you could be punished. Do you want to make Gregory more angry and hateful at us? He already thinks we are dirty and evil. Do you want to leave me and mom behind too? Remember that he treats us just as bad as he treats you if not worse. Think before your actions get us both into trouble! Besides, where would you run?

The letter was done and Mylie sent it with her owl.

<COLOR color="teal">Amycus sat at the kitchen table, helping her mother chop of fresh vegetables and meat for the Hawaiian shish kabobs that they were going to grill tonight. Since she was home schooled she always had free time at home. It never took her long to finish her work and she always made sure that she helped out her mother whenever she could manage it. Her husband certainly did crap but work and go out to bars when he got home. Gregory Douglas was probably the most obnoxious man Amycus had ever met. She hated him with every fiber of her being and she regretted the day that her mother married that man. He was a muggle, a nasty lowly muggle. He felt like he had the right to mistreat everyone too because they were freaks and that was against the nature of society. He treated Mylie by far the worst because she had the ability to change her appearance at will. Gregory found that to be unnatural and strange, so he treated her like she was no more than a rat. Then there was the way he treated Amycus herself. He found it strange that she was obsessed with the ocean like she was, he claimed that she always looked like she was in deep thought. Amycus didn't see anything wrong with it but then again she wasn't a muggle either. He also mistreated their mother. That was what always got Amycus in the worst mood too. Gregory always insulted her, and cheated on her whenever possible. Leilani seemed to put up with it too, which everyone suspected she did just because she didn't want to deal with the process of divorce. After all she had gone through it once before with Amycus and Mylie's real father. The one that should be involved in their life instead of the man that currently was. Amycus barely remember her father but she did remember that he always made her laugh. He was really funny and really lively. He'd easily miss a day of work to take care of Amycus or her mother whenever they were sick or something. But he must hate them all or something. He never wrote to them, never visited them. Hell, Mylie had yet to ever properly meet the man to the point where she could recognize who he was.

"Mom, I'm going to the beach." Amycus stated as she finished cutting up the vegetables and meat. She set them aside in a bowl of spices and stuff to marinate them for later. Amycus was given the okay to go and she went into the living room to get her hoodie. But once in the living room she noticed that Mylie's owl was perched on the chair on the open window. A letter all the way from her school. Amycus dropped her hoodie and took the letter from the owl before giving it a treat. Carefully she opened the letter and read it. Needless to say, the letter sort of boiled her.

Dear Mylie,

I'm glad you actually read the last letter I sent you. But yes I am planning to pack up my things and leave New Zealand soon. Don't tell anyone but I went through some things and I think I may know where dad is. Our real dad. If I can confirm that he really lives where I think he does I will pack my things and go off to find him, I'll get some money too. Maybe I can go to school and live with him if he accepts me. Mylie I even heard we have a brother somewhere. I need to know and I'm tired of being here. Greg treats us all like crap and I for one do not want to put up with it. It's either I force him and mom apart or I leave. I warned her that this could happen but she insists that Greg cares for her and he cares for us. Please don't tell and don't freak out Mylie.

Love,
Amycus
