Imogen Day was by no definition a heavy sleeper, in fact she was the exact opposite. She woke up early and went to bed a lot later than most 11 year old's and just most in general. This morning, it was no different. She'd woken before the first crack of dawn. Immy was wide awake and bored of lying on her bed listening to the sound of her room mates sleep. Quietly, Imogen slipped out of bed and got dressed. She walked down to the common room and sat on one of the warm chairs by the warm morning fire. She wondered what she could do. It was way too early for anything to eat and it was too early for the library to be open. The only place Immy could go were the grounds. Getting up from where she was sitting, Immy made her way out of the warm homely common room.
The corridors were cold and Imogen felt herself begin to shiver. She rubbed her hands against her arms in the hope she'd warm up. Immy was walking slowly down the corridor. Every step she took seemed to bounce off the the cold stone walls of the castle. Immy walked down the many stairs, taking each step with caution. There was a deadly silence on the stairs. No one was awake. No one was up. The silence was exactly what Immy thought, everyone needed. Immy looked around her. Though she knew she was the only one up this early, the echo of her footsteps made Immy worried that she wasn't the alone. Immy finally reached the door outside, she looked round her one final time, took a large breath and walked outside.
Outside it felt like freezer, every part of Imogen was cold. The air was still. There would be no wind that day. It would be a warm day. Immy walked down to by the lake. The sun was soon going to begin to rise. The area of the sky away from the lake had a lighter colour. A lighter blue. Immy sat down facing where the sun would rise. She slid off her shoes and threw them to the side. Immy lay down on her back and looked up to the slowly brightening sky. It felt peaceful. It was silent. As Immy stared up, her mind began to slowly drift away. Memories from the past few months playing in her mind.
The lessons, her essay, the book's she'd read. The student clubs she'd joined. The explorer club meeting had been on Immy had enjoyed a lot. The fashion club meeting and how she knew she didn't fit in with them. The Gryffindor try-outs and how much pride she'd felt during them. The flying, the playing. Immy's mind began to reel quickly through all the people she'd met, since she'd first touched New Zealand soil. Her friends. Her mind thought back to the day she'd become a Daisy Princess. She'd met Teddy that day. Immy was unsure how she felt towards him. She liked him, a lot but Immy didn't understand how much she liked him. He made her smile and laugh. He was quite cute too. Sure they didn't always agree on things but this was normal. That day had been the first day she'd ever felt truly herself. In the simple act of putting a few daisies together in a chain, Immy had laughed more than she had, in a very long time.
Immy's mind continued to wander as she watched the darkness slowly fading and the light of morning appearing. It was quiet, Immy knew she need this and since the gossip magazine had been released she knew that some others probably did too. A quiet moment to just think. A completely sound free start to a day.
"So, let us mark this day with remembrance of who we are and how far we have come" Immy whispered to herself unaware she'd said anything.
