It was not surprising that Oscar Overton was in the library again. To anyone that knew the slightest about him, it was expected. Oscar hadn't been at the School for very long, it was still the start of the year, but he couldn't get enough of the library. The young Ravenclaw still had a lot to learn about magic, and he was starting at the beginning, with the book, "A History of Magic". It was still early morning, only just before breakfast, and Oscar had already read three chapters. He had awoken early, and didn't see the point in trying to fall back asleep. Classes were about to start soon, and he wanted to know as much beforehand as he could. Oscar was unsure if his mind would allow him to go to breakfast, but he knew he would have to pull himself away from the books at some point. He was excited to read about the fourth Chapter which included Merlin. He had heard his father use his name once or twice as curse words, and was surprised to find out that he was actually someone who had lived before.
Oscar tried to take in every word that the book said, his excited eyes zooming across the page. He loosened the blue and bronze tie that clung around his neck. He didn't hate ties, he was quite excited to be able to wear one on a daily basis, but it was getting in his way. Oscar leaned in closer to his book, propping his elbows on the table to get a more comfortable position.

It did not seem likely, but it was the only place she could think of to look. The library seemed like the only place to find a cookbook at Hogwarts, maybe besides the Kitchens. She walked in clicking her heels and received a shush from the librarian. She pursed her lips and attempted to make softer steps through the giant literary room. She traveled through the aisles of books, trying to finds some kind of food related book. After fifteen minutes of endless searching, she went to find a catalog. It showed that any food related items would probably be in the back of the library. Sofia gave a yawn and headed toward the back of the silent area.

The smell of books and other scents took over Sofia's senses as she entered the aisle she was looking for. Something smelled like bacon grease and toast. She followed the scent leading with her noise. It led her to a large book bound in wrinkly, red leather. She took it off the shelf and opened it; smoke came out of the pages and overwhelmed her face. Coughing, she shut the book and placed it back on the shelf, waving away the smoke. Definitely not what she was looking for. She kept walking down the aisle and found a miniature baby blue book with red pages inside. She picked it off the shelf and hesitantly opened it. Nothing came out, so Sophia deemed it with an okay. She closed the book and walked over to the nearest table which was already occupied with an individual boy. She clicked her heels to a seat and plopped down, opening the blue book to the first page to start reading about scalloped pineapple.

Oscar surprised himself by turning over the page to see that he had finished the chapter already. He wondered if one day, people would start using his name; 'Good Oscar', instead of 'Good Merlin'. 'Oscar's beard' rather than 'Merlin's beard'. It interested him how the words came about too. He wondered if having a father as a King was a necessity. Focussing back on his book, he was astonished to see the name "Morgan Le Fey". He recognised the name as a substitute Professor; not a fact that many students would know, but Oscar wanted to know who would be teaching them.
His mind was distracted by the sound of approaching heels. Disgruntled, Oscar looked up and his eyes clicked onto a girl that had come to sit down. She had sat down at his table. He hadn't invited her over or asked, she came on her own accord. Oscar watched as she opened her book and began reading. He noticed she was reading a cooking book. He had never tried cooking himself. It never really interested him. Oscar knew it was something he would be bad at. No longer disgruntled, Oscar shifted in his seat, awkward. He didn't know what to do. Should he start a conversation with her? Or just continue to read? But it would be rude to not acknowledge her. But perhaps she was like him, and just wanted to read without being distracted. Oscar was at a complete loss at what to do. Oscar opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it again, deciding against it. He lifted his book up to his eyes to read again, before putting it back down wondering if he was being rude. Why did the girl have to sit there? He felt incredibly awkward. What did normal people do in a situation like this? Oscar couldn't get his mind to shut up and he wished he weren't so awkward.

So simple, yet so tasty. Yes, scalloped pineapple was a rather simple recipe. Sofia reached down to pull a piece of parchment out of her bag. Grabbing a quill, she reached into the pocket which should be holding the ink and could not find it. Sofia picked the bag off the floor and dropped it on the table, making a loud bang because of the books inside. She threw her hand in, dragging it around all the corners. "Come on, come on," she muttered to herself. Finally, a small, clay, round figure managed its way into her hands. Smiling, she pulled it out of the bag, placing the bag on the ground quietly. How could she had been so careless as to just throw a pot of ink into her bag without placing it into the designated pocket? Shrugging, she dipped her quill into her ink and scribbled down the recipe for scalloped pineapple onto the parchment. She did not want to bother actually taking the book out of the library because who knew when she would have time to actually bake.

Successfully taking ownership of the recipe, Sofia folded the parchment and placed it to the side, closing her ink bottle. She decided to turn the page to the next recipe, but realized this was the wrong decision oh too late. A full white cloud of flour rushed out of the book, caking Sofia in the face. She started to have a coughing fit as the flour expanded away from the book. Maybe if I close the book it will stop.
