Leda had been up to her neck compost, after repotting most of the plants that were along the back of the greenhouse. By the time she'd finally finished, the redhead had reemerged with twigs stuck in her hair and dirt smeared on her cheeks. This was certainly different from the life she was used to living, safe behind a screen as she wrote for her paper, but it was giving her a sense of purpose, too. Realising she was almost late for her first lesson with her seventh years, she pushed the tools to the side to greet them.
"Hello hello hello," Leda slapped her gloved hands together and grinned at the youngesters. "I'm Leda Layton," she told them, refusing to refer to herself as Professor Layton as much as she possibly could, "Covering for Professor Castillo this semester." For the seventh years this would be the final semester they had, so she expected some were probably disappointed to see her, but that wasn't what she was here for, nor something she could dwell on. "As I'm sure you're all aware from all the other classes this week, is your NEWT year," Frankly if any student was unsure at this point, they'd probably spent most of their time at school with their head under a rock.
"This year will we be studing Dangerous Plants II, which sounds very much like Dangerous Plants I, but more." Appropriately so. "It will mainly be a year of reviewing the work from your previous years, although there will be some surprises sprinkled in there too," At least from what she'd read about Professor Castillo's notes, they were in for a treat. "You'll need gloves this year, so if you don't have a pair of your own I would highly suggest plucking some from the bucket over there, although do try to make sure you get ones without any holes." She warned, moving swiftly on.
"We'll be covering a lot of plants you saw in previous years. If anyone is in dire need of the chance to prove themselves, feel free to call out the name of one those you've previously studied," She added, giving them a moment to claim their own fame before handing out the house points. "Wonderful. We'll be covering these, and the Mimbulus Mimbletonia and Venomous Tentacula," plants which Leda had had to brush up her knowledge on before coming back to Hogwarts. "That's everything for now, everyone out, go and enjoy the sunshine while it last because I'm sure before too long you'll all be wrapped up once more in your woolies," she told them, keen to get back to her own arrangements.
