Seventh Years; Lesson 4

The classroom was divided in half, as it would be for the rest of the school year. Desks were on one side, an open space with a sole table was on the other. NEWTs were closing in, and Professor Potter wanted to make sure that her students were ready to go. She sat atop her desk, a stack of paper next to her on the wood. It would be an easy week for her, but not really for her students. She watched as they entered, waiting until they were all there before jumping down and addressing the class.

"Your NEWT exams are looming closer every day. From this week until the end of the term, we will be focusing on getting you ready to sit those exams. We are going to do a review worksheet every week, refreshing your brains on the theories and spells we have covered over the last seven years." She began to hand out the worksheet to the students. "Complete the sheets and turn them in before you go. If you wish to practice any of the spells in a practical format, you may do so over there." She motioned to the single table. "Please turn in the review before you would work on anything practical. Good luck!"

Moving back to her desk, she sat down on top and waited for anyone to need her.

Elio strolled into the classroom, eyeing the new setup with mild curiousity. he split between desks and open space made it clear that the rest of the semester would be all about preparation. He gave Professor Potter a nod of acknowledgment before sliding into a seat toward the back, grabbing his quill from his bag. Spotting the stack of worksheets she was handing out, he sighed. He didn’t really like the theory part of this so much, but it was better than having to be cast spells at with Mikael around. When his sheet landed on the desk, Elio scribbled his name at the top and glanced over the questions. They seemed straightforward enough, though the one about Transfiguration as punishment piqued his interest. With a shrug, he started working on the first question, determined to at least earn some extra credit before heading to the table to practice a few spells. He’d need every edge he could get for the looming NEWTs.

1. What are the seven types of Transfiguration? transformation, untransfiguration, vanishment, conjuration, animagus, switching, trans-species transformation
2. Name the five areas of Transfiguration that are heavily regulated. human, animagus, switching, conjuration, trans-species

5. How would you turn a book into a jewelry box? Gemelitiar
6. What are your views on Transfiguration as punishment? What are the Ministry's views? What has replaced this practice? Personally, it's harsh and ethically questionable, given the long term effects, though sometimes someone needs to be turned into a doormat. The Ministry views Transfiguration as punishment as outdated and inhumane, having replaced it with fines, imprisonment, or community service through modern judicial systems.
7. How would you turn a beetle into a button and back? Praepilatus

9. What spell turns a tortoise into a teapot? Torte turns a tea kettle into a tortoise
