Amy trundled her way up to the owlery. This was once place she hadn't yet visited and on opening the door took in the surroundings.
There were owls everywhere of all different sizes and types.
She had decided not to write her letter in the common room and so had taken her stuff up to the owlery with her. Settling herself down, she took out her quill, ink and a piece of parchment and began to write
It was a short letter, but Amy felt that it was okay to send. Her dad had told her before she had left that he didn't want her to spend ages writing long winded letters to him, but to go and learn, and enjoy herself.
After reading it over a couple more times she hunted down an owl and tied the letter, telling the owl just where it needed to go.
She then watched as it took flight, on its journey to deliver her letter. She then turned to make her way back to the common room.

Hi dad!
I'm sorry I haven't written to you before now! I've had such a hectic week, settling in and everything!
How are you though?
Me..I'm great. I've made quite a few new friends and I'm settling in well here! I got into Gryffindor dad! The house you said mum was in when she went to Hogwarts! Everyone here is so nice and I'm really enjoying everything about it!
I'm missing you as well of course and give my love to Dylan.
Well I guess I'll speak to you soon.
Love
Amy
P.S You'll have to start getting used to the owl mail now!
