Professor Tobias Blade waited at the front of the room, arms crossed as the second years shuffled in. He glanced out the tall windows before turning his attention back to the class. The semester was somehow already halfway through, and while he’d never say it aloud, he didn’t entirely hate how things were going. Most of them were trying. That was enough.
As the last student arrived, he straightened slightly. His robes today were a dark forest green, sleeves rolled back just a little, and a silver chain watch hung from his belt loop—he liked knowing the time, especially with mobile lessons.
"Stay up front, please," he said, lifting a hand slightly to gather their attention. "We won’t be sitting down today. We’re heading elsewhere in the castle to practice." He scanned their faces briefly, giving a small nod. "Today’s lesson is about locking and unlocking spells—Colloportus and Alohomora."
He stepped aside slightly, drawing his wand. "Wands out. Let's start with unlocking. The incantation is Alohomora. Say it with me—al-LOH-ha-MOR-ah." They went over it a few times until he was satisfied. "Now, Colloportus—cull-low-PORE-tus. Again." He paced slowly in front of them as they practiced, correcting a few mispronunciations with a quick shake of the head or a raised eyebrow. Eventually, he nodded once. "Good enough. Let’s move."
Blade led the students down to the second floor, motioning for them to gather in the empty corridor. "Alright, check in. Is everyone here?" He gave them a moment, counting heads. No escapees. "Pair up. Choose a door. Most of these classrooms are empty, so you'll have space to practice safely. Lock and unlock the door with the proper spells—no shortcuts."
He pulled a small leather-bound notebook from his pocket, flipping it open. "Every time you successfully lock or unlock a door with the correct spell, I’ll award your house one point—up to a total of eight. If you're not sure it worked, ask me to verify. I'm watching."
With that, he stepped back, letting them get to it. His gaze was steady but not unkind as he watched their progress, quietly tallying names and points while offering the occasional correction or encouragement. "When you’re finished, come let me know. Otherwise—good luck."
OOC Notes: Please RP your character practicing both Alohomora and Colloportus on the classroom doors in pairs. Tobias is available for interaction and will be keeping track of who earns how many points (up to eight). Feel free to tag me or message if you'd like him to intervene or assist!
