“Morning, class. Today we’ll be learning the Repelling Charm.” Josef paused, letting the words settle in the air. “As its name suggests, this spell repels things away from a target. Simple in concept, but like all spells, the effect is only as good as your control and intent.”
He withdrew his wand from her sleeve with a smooth motion. “The wand movement is just a direct point toward the intended target. The incantation is Repello followed by whatever it is you wish to repel.” He turned and scrawled a quick example on the blackboard with a flick of his wand. “For instance: Repello Ants.”
Josef raised an eyebrow and glanced over the room. “Yes, it really is that straightforward. Don’t overcomplicate it.” He paused, tucking his wand behind his back. “Now—bring your things. We’re heading outside to practice.” With a slight wave of his hand, the door opened itself. Josef led the class out in silence.
The gardens were still damp with morning dew, but the skies had spared them rain for once. Josef came to a halt in front of a row of plants and turned sharply to face the students. “Gather round.” He spoke loud enough for all to hear. “You’ll be practicing the Repelling Charm here—directing it at insects, worms, and other pests around the plants. Focus your intent. Remember: the target must be clearly visualized and named aloud. You are not to harm the creatures. You are repelling them—nothing more.”
He scanned the group, eyes narrowing slightly. “If you succeed, you may be dismissed—but I expect you to report your success directly to me. If you struggle, raise your hand. I’ll be watching.” With that, he stepped back and allowed them to begin.
