Second Years Lesson Five

Mallory smiled as her students came into the classroom. Peter wasn't with her today- he had gone to spend a few days with his father. She stood. “Alright, darlings, today we’re going to have a bit of fun with this lesson. Does anyone remember the game of hide and go seek?” She asked, her Russian accent light. She used to play it all the time as a child, and Dimitri always won. She smiled as the students looked at her in confusion, chuckling softly. "The spell for today is Homenum Revelio. Can anybody tell me what it does?" She asked, calling on a student. She smiled warmly, nodding at them. "Very good, dorogoy, two points for you. Homenum Revelio is a spell that reveals the presence of humans within a specific room or area. The location of the humans or the humans themselves are then indicated by a marker to which only the caster can see,"

Mallory walked slowly along the front of the room, looking to each of the students in turn. "Those who have been discovered by the spell are likely to feel something swooping over their head," She continued to pace slowly in front of the class. "Wand movement is just holding your wand out and incantation is Homenum Revelio. Repeat after me,” Malloy ran through the pronunciation with the students a few times, smiling when she was sure they had all gotten it.

“Now, leave your things and follow me so you can practice your spells, do make sure to grab your wands," she said with a small grin and headed for the door, waiting for her students to follow her, a small notebook in her hands. She made sure each student had their wand as they left the classroom, then led them once again to the second floor.

Once they were on the second floor, she turned her attention back to them. "Now. As I said earlier, you'll all be playing Hide and Go Seek. One of you will seek the others for a maximum of five minutes each. And each of you are all given half a minute to hide. If you weren't found by the first seeker, it's alright if you stay in your spot until someone finds you. Just make sure to come out if I am the one who calls out," Mallory chuckled, wondering how many would be able to survive this game.
"Each of you will get to play seeker and for each classmate you find, I'll give you a certain number of house points. Remember to stay on this floor for the game, alright? So, you can be the first seeker," she said with a grin as she pointed to one of the students who was closest to her. "Oh! And all the doors are locked right now. So, good luck. Everybody ready?" she could see that at least some were eager to get this game going. She just hoped though that some of them were smart enough to actually use Homenum Revelio for this little game. It was quite useful for things like this after all, especially since they had limited time to seek. "Go!" she announced. and with a chuckle she supervised the game, making sure to tally how many classmates each of her students found, and adding a few points to the student that never got caught. Soon enough, the last seeker's five minutes were up and with a few reminders, she had sent them off to get their things and class was dismissed.

-limit of three student finds per seeker-

Eurydice listened intently as Professor Grayveson introduced the day's spell - Homenum Revelio. At least she was sure that they wouldn't be dealing with bugs this time. She leaned back in her seat, quill twirling between her fingers. The spells seemed simple enough. She couldn't think of any uses for it at the top of her head but she was sure there was bound to be something. She did raise a brow though at the thought of playing a game. Hide and seek? Really? What was up with this school and games? At least they could stay put if they weren't found. As soon as the signal was given, Eury slipped away, entering a dark alcove. It was pretty open and no one would think to hide there. She took off her robe and used the back of it to cover her front hiding the yellow of Hufflepuff and using the black to her advantage as she stood perfectly still behind an indent? An arch? Probably a pillar. A few seekers passed by though most tended to look in the classrooms - correctly. One had the luck of finding her, which made her the seeker after brushing imaginary dust off her clothes and righting her robe. Now to find her classmates. The first classroom would be too easy. The third door it was. "Homenum Revelio!" Too easy - there was one. She passed her alcove and cast the spell again, snorting as she found the seeker from earlier. Really? "Homenum Revelio," she cast again in an open classroom only to find none. But at least she found a third classmate in the next classroom over. Now to find her next hiding spot, preferably somewhere less dirty.

The Gryffindor was getting used to the term going by quickly with what they were learning. It was not too difficult but it was not as boring as the first year. He could handle this very easily. Asher was confident in his abilities - likely because he was a Gryffindor. He had some Slytherin in him, he was sure. His mother sure acted like it. His other mother was a Gryffindor. She acted like it too. Asher was not sure where Adelaide got her Ravenclaw side from though. He dismissed that thought as he gathered his textbooks and equipment and headed out of the Gryffindor house to head to his next class.

Asher made his way into the Charms classroom and was about to sit down in his seat, but paused half way in when he heard the question. He finished sitting down and wondered what this spell would entail. Someone hiding? No, it occurred to him. Homenum Revelio. He smiled at the answer. He was right. He left his things behind and went along with the other second years. When it was his turn to seek, he used the spell and found two other students. He found almost every time, but balance was there. At least his peers were using the spell correctly.

A spell to find people sounded interesting and he wondered what the practical applications of such a spell were. Surely there was something better to use it for than playing hide and seek, William understood that Professor Grayveson liked to try and have fun with her lessons, but he was sure there was a better use for the spell.

After learning the incantation he followed the group out of the classroom and onto the second floor. He hid when it was his turn to do so and when he had to seek he successfully used the spell to find three of his classmates, though the third proved harder which was even funnier when it turned out to be @Eurydice Nightray, evidently she was really good at hiding from him.

Homenum Revelio sounded like it would be a pretty useful spell, and so Nox slipped quickly into the shadows of an alcove as someone wandered past doing the spell. The incantation had been pretty simple to learn so he wasn’t surprised it was a second year spell. They switched out, seeking and being sought out and Nox managed to find two people, being found himself a couple of times. He wasn’t really sure how needed the spell would be, unless you just walked around expecting there to be invisible people around you all the time, but he supposed, why not. Soon the class ended and he quickly packed up to leave.
