Grand entrances were ostentatious and this was the only way to politely call something tacky in Margaux’s most humble opinion. While she was centered around wealth and even celebrity due to her status in life and the people she knew, she preferred simple gatherings. Anything more than two hundred people to an event felt too much like she was endlessly looking after a green light but the woman was not the type to pine after anything. She had all she wanted and needed, she refused to be the type of person who lusted after something another had simply because she didn’t which often seemed to be the point of many events she attended. While the woman normally had a cycle of men she would drag around like lost pups, cleaner and more freshly shaven pups albeit, but a last minute cancellation left her expecting her best friend to be on her arm instead. If it was a larger party she knew there would be no point but by many standards this one was small and they would be making a subtle entrance, nothing too garish so as to make him feel overwhelmed as this was not what she wanted. They still had to have a firm conversation and there was no place more quiet than a loud party as far as Margaux Martin was concerned. They would not be having animosity between them, it was ridiculous for two adults to be act in such a way, though she sometimes felt Jonathon was purposefully ridiculous to off-put her rather stern, meticulous demeanour. She only hoped that he would dress in the suit she had sent to him. Her dress was a common enough colouring in suits and she wanted them to look put together but not matching and she certainly could not have him dress in the manor he normally did. It was a wonder neither Samuel nor Eduardo’s dressing habits had not yet rubbed off on him. Jon was ever the stubborn fool, she wondered once more how it was that they were ever as close as they were. Still she could count on him to attend with her a place she knew he would not want to go because it was a social emergency and while Margaux touched up her lipstick she knew that it was all that really mattered.

The tie around the collar of Jon's shirt was a nuicsance to say the least. No matter which way he attempted to tie it, it looked wrong, sticking out like a sore thumb against the brand new suit Margaux sent him to wear on that night and making him feel more out of place than he did already. He hated the suit, he wanted to rip it off, throw his pyjamas back on and hide under the covers of his bed for the night so he didn't have to go out with Margaux to some pretentious party filled with equally pretentious people where the expectations of his actions and demeanor were higher than he could even begin to imagine. But he of course never went back on a favor, and especially not on a favor to one of his best friends so he had no choice but to suck it up and go to the party with her. It would be nerve wracking and awkward as he wouldn't know how to make conversation with anyone around him but it was his duty whether he liked it or not. Deeming the tie as a lost cause, Jon pulled it away from his neck and held it in one of his hands as he left his room and descended the stairs to the main living area of his house where Margaux stood applying lipstick and Sam stood in the kitchen. It didn't take long for the older man to walk up to him, rip the tie from his hand and mutter 'how do you not know how to tie a tie? you were supposed to do this everyday when you were in school' as it was tied for him. He allowed Sam to tie the pesky piece of silk without any protest and turned to Margaux when Sam was done. A neutral expression was on his face to hopefully distract from his nerves as he asked "Presentable enough for you?" while holding his arms slightly away from his sides, giving Margaux a full view of his outfit which she would hopefully deem appropriate. She had chosen it after all and Jon was wearing it despite how uncomfortable it was.
