The Basics

Character's Name: Sabrina Lorelei Emmerich. Her mother was in to muggle television and games, and thus picked names at random without thinking much about meaning. While 'Lorelei' means 'melody', Sabrina means...'cactus fruit'. Emmerich is a German name - the first half meaning 'whole', 'work' or 'home', and the second half meaning 'power'.

Character's Birthdate: 28 February, 2004. She's a Pisces. Pisceans care as though it is second nature to them, and Sabrina is certainly no exception - she will go out of her way to help people, even if that is considered intruding. They are sensitive, emotional, idealistic and philosophical, which is very true for Sabrina. As she was born in the early phase of Pisces, she's strongly ruled by Neptune and essentially born to help and care.

Hometown: She was born in San Francisco, USA, however that was because her parents happened to be travelling there at the time. She grew up in England - though her and her mother moved around a lot so she didn't really have a 'home' town as such. Currently, she resides just outside Wellington, New Zealand - but she travels around the country a fair bit - specifically to get to the wizarding quarters.

Blood Status: Half blood. Her parents were both muggle born, and thus, Sabrina grew up with a sound knowledge of both the muggle and wizarding worlds.

Wand: Willow Wand, 11 3/4", Essence of Pixie Dust.
"Willow is know as the tree of enchantment. It is famous for its unique healing properties and is used to generate great psychic energy as an aid in divination."

Educated At: Hogwarts (Scotland) House: Hufflepuff.
Sabrina was sorted in to Hufflepuff for her genuine interest in other people and her ability to care/her empathy. The hat itself, upon sorting her, said to her: "You always see the best in people, no matter what, don't you? I'm sure you'll find others like you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Occupation: Unemployed. She travels around muggle circuses and carnivals reading tarot cards and palms for money, and picks up plenty of odd jobs, but she lacks a proper education - for she simply didn't get the marks to go in to the ministry, and never can decide what she wants for her life. She's a bit of a wanderer, really.

Appearance

Hair: She has long, wavy/curly hair, that is naturally a light brown/dark blonde. She often dyes it, however her mood takes her. Usually she dyes it a darker brown, occaisionally red. She likes to think darker tones give her more of an air of sophistication.

Eyes: She has wide, ocean blue/green eyes. Her eyes are often warm - she examines people closely, but she does not judge, merely endeavours to understand.

Height: About 5'5". She's not very tall, and being a relatively small person, can look insignificant and demure. But don't let that fool you, she's not as easily pushed around as one might think.

Style: Varies, depending on her mood. Usually takes to wearing comfortable, 'hippie'ish clothes (long skirts, peasant shirts, sandals) when she's working at fairs and carnivals. Has a wide range of clothing - gothic, 'preppy'...generally is fairly nicely presented, albeit a little messy, and isn't too 'in your face' with her choice of outfits.

Other Distinguishing Features: Two parallel scars on her left wrist. She usually keeps them covered up by bracelets or long sleeves and refuses to talk about them. She's rarely seen without a smile or at least a pleasant and contented expression on her face. It's nearly always feigned, but she's gotten good at convincing herself (as well as others) that she's happy.

A Little Deeper

Personality: Sabrina could be described as something of a 'cloud-cuckoolander'. She's a bit airy and has her head in the clouds - she lacks grounding and ambition. It is in her nature (and as she believes in astrology and divination, her personality) to care about others, and she does so passionately. If there is anything she can do to help someone who needs it, she will do what she can to assist. She is also excellent at reading people. She does not judge, she simply assesses people in order to see what she might do to help them and to understand them better. Sabrina is always fascinated by new people, and likes to learn what she can about anyone she can.
Of course, her interest in others is not entirely selfless. Indeed, it is partially so that she won't have to think about herself. Sabrina's always despised herself, and suffers from depression - she's on a reasonably strong medication for it. Still, she has learnt that the best way to get through life is to force a smile and get on with it. Her positive attitude can come across as infuriating and obnoxious at times, but for her it's a coping mechanism. She feels her happiest when she's beginning to understand a new person, and while strangers may not appreciate her inquisitive, overly naive and bubbly nature, all she is really doing is something that makes her happy - and that is trying to make everyone else's lives better, despite hers being a bit of a wreck.
Sabrina isn't one to make plans and look in to the long term - in fact, she has a bit of anxiety about that. This is another reason she's unemployed, not only is there no job that can really catch her interest (nor did she get the best marks at Hogwarts), but she can't make plans for the future. For someone who takes an interest in divination, the future frightens her. Her own future, that is. She can't see anything positive coming from it, she hates the idea of settling in to one career path for life, and she doesn't feel like she'd ever be good enough to do something worthwhile that she may actually enjoy. So, she simply drifts, taking life one day at a time. She hides her unstable, depressed side, and focuses on the positives.
Really, it's best for everyone that way.

Special Talents/Abilities: No real abilities, but Sabrina is so interested in other people that she can read them extremely well. Which makes her good at fortune telling - being a carnival psychic for muggles is a job she takes whenever she can get it (because there's no long term schedule and it's something she enjoys).

History: Sabrina's parents loved to travel. They married in their early twenties, traveled around Europe and the United States - the latter being where Sabrina was born. They soon returned to England to settle down with their baby, and perhaps have more children and a nice big family. This was never meant to be, unfortunately, with her father passing away not long after her first birthday. Sabrina, of course, has no memory of this time, but it was as though life got a little less colourful. Her mother was a bit of a wanderer, too, so they would move around the country, with her mother working wherever she was needed and with them living wherever they could afford. Her mother being a muggleborn witch, Sabrina was taught both muggle and wizarding ways, so that she could understand both worlds - her natural curiosity, of course, leading her to want to learn as much as she possibly could.
Soon after her eleventh birthday, Sabrina was accepted to Hogwarts Scotland, where she began studying in 2015. She was sorted in to Hufflepuff house for her interest and care for others, and she had a reasonably happy time at school. She didn't make friends easily, but she was on friendly terms with everyone. Some people, of course, bullied her for her happy-go-lucky seeming nature, and an undesirable male student or two took advantage of the sweet, pretty girl who just wanted to make people happy.
Of course, Sabrina kept smiling. But the smiles never reached her eyes, and in the break between sixth and seventh year, she was diagnosed with depression.
Nobody would have guessed, though. As good as she was at reading other people, so too was she good at hiding her own feelings behind a mask of positivity. The positivity was mostly true, though - even though people hurt her, she wouldn't let that stop her from caring. Sometimes, though, it was hard to fake.
She graduated in 2022 with no great achievements, no direction in life, and no true friends - and it was honestly one of the darkest periods in her life. She took a job at the Leaky Cauldron until she could save up enough money to move somewhere else, and once she had, decided to move to Australia - or at least, thought she would, but she quickly realized she wouldn't really like the climate, and decided to go to New Zealand instead. From what she'd heard, it had a thriving magical community, and it was far enough away from England so she wouldn't have to think about it much.
It still was definitely not a happy time for her - it was around that time she acquired the scars on her arm. Nevertheless, she learnt that there were people who needed her help, and so she channeled her energy in to helping others however she could.
She would take jobs at muggle carnivals and fairs as a fortune teller, where she would not just tell fortunes, but meddle in the lives of those who came to her, reading them and trying to talk through their problems. Often, she was told she would make an excellent psychologist - but she had her own problems that she was desperately avoiding dealing with. She also took odd jobs about the place - working in stores and what not, babysitting, dog walking, you name it - in order to earn enough money to survive and have a roof over her head - in her decrepit flat on the outskirts of Wellington.
She keeps in contact with her mother by owl but they haven't seen each other in years - neither can really afford to travel, although her mother does have a more stable job than Sabrina does. Sabrina knows she really ought to find a proper occupation, but she just can't cope with the idea of it. For now, she's content to just keep living life as she does - living for today, and not worrying about tomorrow.

Family: The only real known relative, alive, that Sabrina has is her mother, Sara Emmerich. Sara also attended Hogwarts Scotland, and was sorted in to Hufflepuff house. Born on the 14th of March, Sara is also a Pisces, but her care for others isn't quite as extreme or passionate as her daughter's. Nevertheless, Sara is a very caring person, also hardworking. She has never quite gotten over her husband's death, but like Sabrina, she puts on a brave face and takes everything one day at a time. She's very good natured, and in her later years, is more organised and sharper than ever. She would love to get her daughter's life in order, but Sabrina is too free spirited to accept help on herself - she would rather be helping others. As it is, Sara simply keeps doing what she does in order to keep her head above water, so to speak. She currently resides outside London, and works as a wizarding midwife, travelling around the country wherever she's needed. She specializes in home births, and as such, isn't tied to a hospital such as St. Mungo's. It's hard work, getting her name out there and getting employed in this instance, but it's a job that really makes her happy.
Her father, Joseph Emmerich, was studying wizarding/muggle relations, when he was tragically killed in a car accident in London. Joseph was also a fairly happy-go-lucky kind of person - born on the 4th of August, he was a Leo, being incredibly energetic and friendly, although a little over the top at times. Sabrina honestly doesn't remember much about him, because he did pass away while she was too young to remember, but Sara always stated that Joseph was a great man, and would be looking down on her, looking after her.
Sometimes, Sabrina doubts that that is the case, but then again, she tries not to focus on the past (and her medication helps her a little there), put on a smile, and think about the future. She travels alone, and as such, is glad for only having her mother to worry about in terms of a family. The idea of having to closely bond with many people is too frightening for her to comprehend.
