E T Y M O L O G Y
Reuben is a Hebrew name, meaning "behold, a son".
Thomas is a greek form of the Aramaic name Ta'oma', which meant "twin".
Lagowski is a Polish surname derived from a common town name in Poland called Lagow, which once meant "order" and "quiet" (harhar).
R E A S O N I N G
Thalia Lagowski had always wanted to be a mother. As a young child she would play with baby dolls, and dreamt about the day she would
have real children of her own. She decided, aged twelve, that should she ever conceive a boy, it would be called Reuben. At the age of
twenty she was told that she would not be able to have children. Therefore, upon finding out she was pregnant with twin boys, she insisted
that one of them must be called Reuben. Nathanial was happy to oblige.
Both of Reuben's parents agreed that the name Thomas complimented his forename nicely. It was a suggestion from Nathaniel. Other than
this, there was no particular reason for its choosing. The fact it means "twin" is a sheer coincidence.
N I C K N A M E S
Reuben's nicknames include (but are not limited to): Ruby, Rhubarb, Rue, Ben, and Hufflepuff.
N I C K N A M E R E A S O N I N G
Ruby is what Rudolf occasionally calls him when he wants to get on his twin's nerves (it works).
Rhubarb is a nickname given to Reuben by his parents. He finds this equally as mortifying as being called Ruby.
Rue & Ben are shortenings of Reuben, used mainly by his twin and close friends.
Hufflepuff is what Rudolf shouts at him whenever he feels like teasing him about his house placement.

down sides - Reuben did not get to socialise with others his age besides his twin and younger sister Ray, and as such relies greatly on their
friendship.

Hufflepuff. For Reuben, this was a little unexpected, as he had considered himself a Gryffindor. However, he has since grown into the
house, and whilst he still finds it sad that he doesn't share a dormitory with Rudolf, he can't imagine himself anywhere else now.
