(Renata was her Italian born mother's choice, while tradition dictactes her middle name comes from her father's first name)
Character's Birthdate: 24 December 2042. She is currently 13 years old.
Hometown: A tiny wizarding community kept off the map, but somewhere in northern Russia. She was born in Switzerland while her parents were travelling around Europe.
Blood Status: Mixed blood.

Educated At: Currently attends Durmstrang (2nd year)
Appearance
Hair: Blonde, inherited from her father's side of the family (although a little darker). Fairly wavy and full (from her mother).
Eyes: Bright blue.
Height: Average height, leaning tall. About 5'2" and growing. Her father's family is quite tall (while her mother's is short).
Style: Usually stuck wearing heavy robes and warm clothing but likes sundresses and casual warmer clothes if she has the opportunity.

A Little Deeper
Personality: Renata is fairly bright and cheerful, in stark contrast to her surrounds. Although her family (on her father's side) would like to have renown, they simply do not have the money or the standing to really be much of anyone at Durmstrang. Add to that Renata's more cheerful disposition and she does not really fit in, to say the least. Her parents are both magical, but certainly not pureblooded, and combined with her sweeter disposition, lack of wealth and lack of connections she is something of an easy target. Still, she keeps her head held high and tries not to let anything get her down. Or at the very least, put on a convincing enough brave face. There is a certain degree of pride in her bearing, but not necessarily arrogance, especially being acutely aware of her place in the pecking order. She loves stargazing and space, as well as sunshine and pleasant days on the beach. Renata is someone who will look forward and try to seize any opportunities given.
Special Talents/Abilities: Her mother is a singer, although Renata doesn't quite have the talent for it. Her voice is pleasant, though, and she can certainly hold a tune. She can read music well. Her English is also very good, and she can speak a few languages conversationally.

Her mother, Rosa, was a middlingly popular lounge singer in the European wizarding world, making a reasonable living touring and performing in wizarding clubs and bars. It was on one such tour that Renata was born (as they could not really afford to stop performing). So Renata's early years were spent travelling around, charming bar owners with her precocious sweetness by her father's side. Her education was spotty and all over the place, though she picked up languages fairly well. She struggled a bit more with maths and science and other such things but her parents figured she knew enough to start a magical education when she was old enough. Her grandfather (and great grandfather) insisted she attend Durmstrang as their family did now, although her mother wanted to send her to Beauxbatons. Still, they settled back in the Stepanov's cold, miserable hometown, a cheap dump in the middle of nowhere, much to Rosa's dismay. Renata was, fortunately? accepted in to Durmstramg, where she did appallingly at Dark Arts, fine if not incredibly at anything else, and maintained a stoicism and smile in the face of misery, as much as she and her mother hate where they are now.
Family: The Stepanov dynasty is only about 4 generations old, with the patriarch, Ivan, getting accepted in to Durmstrang and wanting to make a name for himself. Unfortunately, he lacked wealth and influence, and most of his descendants lacked a killer instinct and wit. Certainly his grandson Mikhail lacked it, somewhat floating through his days at Durmstramg and escaping to travel as cheaply as possible away from the pressure of his family and their desire for more that they just couldn't quite earn. He met Rosa, the shining star of dive bars in Italy, and fell in love immediately. Although she was about 14 years older, and he wasn't exactly bringing anything to the relationship, she reciprocated, with Mikhail doing odd jobs for her (learning to play piano, conjuring stage decorations, etc). She became pregnant with Renata soon after. Rosa may have never been a grand sensation, but she was always glamourous even on a budget and only stopped performing as exhaustion managed to catch her. While she loves her husband amd her daughter fiercely, she absolutely hates where they live and that Renata clearly does not belong at Durmstrang, and their relationship is rather tense as she lobbies to move away. Mikhail, never having been a great force of personality, now finds himself caught between his love for his wife and daughter and filial duty to his grandfather, even though in his heart he knows that his grandfather doesn't respect him for being so 'soft' and his young nephew holds far more expectation than his daughter.
