In between teaching his sixth year class, preparing for the OWL and NEWT exams, and his new role as Ravenclaw head of house, the spare moments Jon had at work were becoming less often. It was not something he was adverse to as he would rather focus on working than anything else, but it did turn the spare moments he still had into an opportunity to step back from his responsibilities and breathe, which he had never needed before. That day, Jon had decided to head to the professor's common room during a break he had after one of his classes, wanting a change of pace from the scenery in his office and to simply sit down with a cup of tea for a few minutes to go over one of his lesson plans for later that semester. Tea was not something he usually drank, but he had read that had a calming effect and that was exactly what he was looking for to combat the extra stress he was feeling. When the hot tea was in his hands Jon moved to sit at one of the arm chairs and began to flick through the various pieces of paper he had brought with him. As he read over what he had written, he sipped the tea slowly and tried to relax a little while also focusing on his task.

It was the beginning of a new semester which always brought a change in personnel but Ryder had not expected Professor Cliffeton to be one of the staff members not returning. By all accounts, he had been a fixture for a number of years and held a number of positions. His departure of course meant among other things Ravenclaw were in need of a new head of house. It had never occurred to Ryder for him to apply himself but he was curious to see who got the job and as it turned out it was his subject buddy Professor Phillips. Ryder made a mental note to swing by the man's office and congratulate him when he had a spare moment. For now, he was heading to the Professor's common for a quick cup of tea before his class. As luck would have it Professor Philipps was in the common room when he arrived. "Hey Jon," Ryder said as he began making his drink. "How are you finding the new role?"

Olive had barely settled in to her first semester when she heard that more changes were going to be made in the school for her second. Entering the Professors common room, glad for a change of scenery, in her hand she held a mug of coffee. She loved her job and she loved working on her Potions, but on occasion the lack of natural light and air that was accessible in the dungeons took a toll on the woman, and she had to take herself upstairs for some rejuvenation. Passing two familiar faces on the way to an armchair, she nodded her read head in their direction. "Ladies," she said with a straight face, taking a seat and opening her notebook and taking a sip of her hot beverage. She had no plans to interrupt anyone's discussion, and while she was grateful to have made some good friends already during her time here, she knew eventually she'd also have to branch out and approach those she'd yet to meet.

Jon looked up from his papers when he heard his own name, eyes landing on his subject buddy. He smiled, acknowledging the other man's presence and noting that he was also making a cup of tea. Hopefully Ryder was just a fan of tea and was not drinking it because he was stressed like Jon was. "It's different, but I'm adjusting." He answered the question, leaving out the stress he was feeling as his gaze returned to the papers in his hands. After a moment of silence passed, Jon began to ask a question in return though was interrupted in his attempt to continue their small talk when Olive entered the room. She referred to them as ladies so Jon responded in kind. "Sir." He greeted, nodding to her as she sat in a different arm chair. He soon returned his attention back to Ryder and asked "Anyway, how are your classes going?" Olive looked too busy reading her notebook for Jon to assume she wanted to join the conversation.
