Amory's face broke into a big grin as the girl fell for his trap of ignorance. "Got you, of course I know by now that werewolves are real too." Learning about the unicorns had been shock enough that Amory had taken it to himself to learn about more. Rose had of course also told him about some creatures and whether or not they were real but he'd read more on it just in case. Though he was a bit disappointed the werewolves weren't exactly Twilight level but any-who they were real. "Could have fooled me," He said shaking his head. "Have you ever met one by the way? Though I'd assume they don't exactly go parading the condition around, but still?" The Slytherin asked curiously.

Echo genuinely didn't think Amory was telling the truth. "Sure you did, you keep believing whatever makes you feel more secure at night," she gave him an overzealous smile, before trying her best to walk slightly in front of him to assert dominance. "No," she replied shortly, stepping over some more roots in the dark, careful not to trip or let the Slytherin realise that she was now feeling a little foolish. "I mean, probably not. If I have they haven't said so." Besides, if Echo had met a werewolf, she probably would have just tried to call out to them. "I don't know, creatures don't seem that scary to me," she added, thinking about all the different types they kept at home.

Amory raised both his brows at the girls accusation. "Oh but you wound me so deeply," He said placing a hand on top of his heart. "Nah for real though, once someone breaks it to you that horses with horns exist you kind of want to look up what else there is and isn't." The Slytherin said finally and watched how the younger girl tried to walk ahead of him, cute. In all two steps that he took he was quickly caught up with her staying strictly on her side, not a step in front or behind. "No? I don't know if they scare me per say as much as just surprised me to find out they even exist. Who knows perhaps next year I won't even return to school for the fear might over take me." Amory offered, he would never let his fears control him but didn't mean he couldn't offer it up as a joke.

Echo wasn't sure there was much that would wound Amory, or at least he probably would let it show if it did. Some people were just like that, they didn't have a serious bone in their body. "I suppose," she added, still looking at the floor. She couldn't imagine what it was like, having no idea about magic until you were thrust face first into the heart of the education system. "What did you do, before you came here then?" she asked, genuinely curious to know what Amory did when he believed he was just a muggle. "Did you ever think.. something was like.. wrong with you?" Echo didn't know if the second year would know what she meant, but from her own childhood there were a few times that magic had shown itself when she hadn't really had control.

Amory's steps halted at the girls question and his eyes shifted from looking forward to her back. He stood there silent for a moment, he hadn't shared much in detail about what his life before Hogwarts looked like other than living in a group home. "Yeah I always knew I was different, that maybe something was wrong with me. Whether it was just literally or because nobody in the group home wanted to speak to me, or perhaps the first indication was just that. Ending up in a group home." He spoke with a flat tone as he started walking again. "Whether or not my parents were magical, I do not know but I ended up where I did and sure there were times odd things happened, but honestly? I thought maybe I was going crazy who knows. Magic didn't really cross my mind, I mean why would it?" Until that damn owl he had lived believing he was just that, a muggle, but that something was different in him. Maybe even wrong.
