With the school on a break for the end of year. The young teen was happy that the term had come to an end, a little before most of the rest of the magical schools did. The luxury of a private education, but that didn't matter, because he was looking after his neighbours dog, and had been allowed to take the dog with him, on the family's outing to obsidian harbour.. It was the weekend and Shane had been working so hard all semester, the entire family had decided to get ice cream, but since he wasn't feeling up to being particularly social, the boy had asked to take the dog, a beautiful and still very young german shepherd with him. He loved dogs, they were so much fun and he was having a blast with him. On the edge of the town throwing a ball and watching as the dog bounded after it and then would bring it back to him. The school term had been long and boring, and Shane was just looking forward to all of the holiday time he could spend without having to think about his classes, his exams or the future.
He took a sip of the water he'd brought and gave a little to the puppy as it brought the ball back to him. He was friendly with it, scratching it's back and behind the year, telling it positive affirmations. He loved the dog. He wanted a dog badly, but he would never want to impose that upon his current family not with the sort of plans he had in mind, or even just because he spent all of his weeks at school when he wasn't on vacation. So, instead he would just make the most of the time that he had with this very dog. Take every opportunity to play with her as he was doing so now. Shane took the ball gently off the ground and threw it again, watching happily as the dog once again raced off to get it. Oh boy, they did not deserve dogs, and though he knew he would probably benefit from spending time with his sister and his family, he needed this time alone. To gather his thoughts and let himself just process the last semester and the end of another year in a school where no one liked him and where he felt like an outsider. But he couldn't complain, he shouldn't, it was one of the best educations he could get, his aunt and uncle were forking out for it, and he was being likely ungrateful. Shane ignored those thoughts and just focused on the puppy. The puppy should get all his attention.
