The Durmstrang teen was rather bored as she sat in Ancient Runes class and stared out of the window. It was a yuck day, as her mother would have called it, with grey clouds covering the sky and rain falling down the charmed windows, with cold air frosting over the glass. Sapphira might have listened to the Professor's lesson, had she have read the textbook and understood anything of what she was saying, and so she prayed that the Professor didn't ask her any questions. She felt tired, but knew that if she put her head down for even a second the Professor was sure to pounce on her straight away. But she couldn't help her lack of sleep, she'd had such a terrible nightmare last night, of creatures in the darkness and of being alone, she couldn't even think about it without chills running down her spin. To busy herself, the 13-year-old looked around the room, her eyes roaming over the other teenagers in her class, most of them either following every move the Professor made with their eyes or staring at their fidgeting hands, probably as bored as she was. Sapphira went back to staring out the window, watching as the dark clouds moved across the sky and the rain sprinted down, dulling the school grounds from her viewpoint.

Sapphira was normally a good girl, she did her homework and assignments, and didn't argue with teachers and professors, and she loved magic. But lately she had been getting terrible nightmares, each night a different horror unfolded before her closed eyes. She was too scared to try a sleeping spell, worried that she might do something wrong and never wake up, so she suffered through her bad dreams. Soon the class was dismissed and the students filed out, carrying books and bags, all chatter rising as the class emptied. As sapphire moved through the crowd, her mood brightened and excitement filled her, she remembered that today she was getting a new book, a new twist of Alice in Wonderland, which was her favourite story of all time. The young girl loved the adventure, loved the twists and characters, she loved the possibility and magic of it. As Sapphira got to the bottom of the spiral staircase, she saw a girl from her class drop her books as she feel, and Sapphira rushed over and bent to help her pick up her books, noticing the girls face and remembering her from classes, she was a Muggleborn witch, but Sapphira couldn't remember her name. At the girl's frightened look at seeing Sapphira helping her, Sapphira smiled kindly at her, realising that this girl had probably been bullied for being Muggleborn, or Mudblood as other Purebloods called them, though Sapphira refused to say it, feeling that it was filthy and unkind. The girl thanked her, smiling brightly, and walked away, cradling her books to her chest.

Sapphira smiled, feeling even happier and continued down the hall, feeling proud of herself. Janet and Tony Blacklord, her parents, would have been proud of her too, after all they had been just as kind-hearted as Sapphira, being the source of her good nature. The young Durmstrang girl didn't feel bad about thinking of her parents, yes, she felt sad to remember that they were dead, but she remembered and honoured them with happy memories. They had loved me, she knew, and they would be proud, I hope.

Yevheniy was bored out his mind. The term could not come to a close faster. While a fifth year, he wasn't interested in the whole studying thing, he didn't really care about his exams. It wasn't really what he wanted to go into any work, Yev imagined that he had more time, and he could just figure things out after he grew bored of having fun. The teen wasn't expecting this to happen any time soon, but he didn't care really. School was boring to him, and he really hated the classes which was why he rarely went. He was supposed to be in transfiguration, but instead the teen was just wondering around Durmstrang minding his own business. Yev had few friends while at school though not many, and was currently sporting a mostly faded black eye, which was starkly clear against his pale skin and ice blue eyes. It which was curtsey of some older student who hadn't quite liked how he'd not moved out the way for him when he'd passed. Yev had been looking for a fight, so he'd played all the right cards and it had ended in a fight, and while the other boy looked worse this durmstrang teen had not gotten away unscathed. Just as he headed down a corridor, a bell rang and the students poured out into the corridor. He stayed stationary letting people pass by him. He watched as students rushed past him to their next class, though Yevheniy was in no rush so he didn't really move. He didn't expect to be doing anything with his day, wandering around the school, avoiding professors who'd be more than happy to give him more detention. It was as he was about to turn back, and in head in the other direction that he watched a girl helping someone who'd dropped their books.

The teen watched curiously as the girl helped her gather up the books she'd dropped. He wasn't too involved in the school, Yev attempted to keep out of most people's ways until he didn't want to. He didn't really know much about the other students, but he knew about the girl who'd dropped her books. It wasn't often Durmstrang got a muggleborn. It was incredibly rare, so naturally every sort of knew her. This other girl was helping her? That wasn't very durmstrang of her. Yev decided to have fun with this other girl, the one who'd helped the mudblood. So, he slowly followed her through the hallways, until they were in one with a lot less people. "A durmstrang student that helps a stupid good for nothing mudblood," He spoke loudly, in his deeply accented english. Now, Yev had no real issue with muggles, and he had no issue with half bloods. It was the muggleborns he preferred to avoid. They were the strange ones. Magic from nothing. That in his mind didn't really fit the natural order of things. But, it wasn't that he hated them, just that it would be more fun with this girl, if he pretended that he did hate them. It would be more interesting, and he would definitely enjoy his day more since he could mess with some younger student. "Now, that's a silly move for someone in the lower years of Durmstrang. Don't upset the natural picking order." He called to her, as he closed the distance between them, but still stayed well enough away. "You might end up at the bottom, and that's no fun. Well," He paused, laughing slightly, "No fun for you" He laughed again. Moving so that he would be in front of her. His smirk was clear, and reached even his eyes. He was happy this had happened, and messing with this girl who had just done something that was actually quite nice and kind would be half the fun. "Why did you help her?"

I hope you don't mind me joining!

Sapphira was smiling to herself, feeling that the balance of thing were going good, she loved helping people, seeing their smiles and loved the way that one small thing could brighten up someone's whole day, even if it was a yuck one like this. Sapphira slid through the crowd, not looking down at the ground like most of the younger students of Durmstrang did, she just walked with her head high and smile on her face. As she neared the far wall near the only entry out of this hall, the Durmstrang girl's eyes were drawn to a boy walking slowly through the crowd, his head down and his hair falling slightly across his face, blocking Sapphira's full view, but she was certain that he was watching her. He looked older, maybe a fifth year. She had time to just wonder what he was doing just wondering around when he looked up and looked straight at her, as if sensing her gaze, and Sapphira quickly looked away. Don't stare, it's rude, the girl told herself, looking towards the door as the hall slowly emptied with students disappearing in all directions. The Durmstrang Teenager was just wondering about her book again when she heard a voice near her side. She jumped slightly and looked up to see the boy that she'd been staring at. It took a moment for her to realise what he'd said, having been shocked by his sudden appearance. The girl knew that there weren't many Muggleborns in Durmstrang, but that was no reason for those few to be picked of for who their families were, and what this boy had just said sparked her anger.

Sapphira watched, her anger and defence of the poor Muggleborn girl growing, as the boy smirked, feeling pleased with himself I'd bet, she thought angrily. And as he laughed at her kindness it felt as if her anger had just boiled over, but she would keep her calm with this boy, Sapphira Blacklord would not give him the satisfaction of tormenting her. As the hall emptied she stopped as he stood in front of her, ugly words still coming from his mouth, when he stopped speak she replied in a calm but strong voice. "At the bottom? Well that depends of which way you look at it, from my point I could be at the top, the top of not having a black heart like people like you." she looked away towards the door and then back to the boy to answer his last question. "I helped her because it was the right thing to do, just as my mother and father always taught me, just because we come from families of witches and wizards doesn't mean that we're any better that anyone else, and so yes I helped her because she needed my help and I don't care whether I'm in the lower years or at the 'bottom'" she mimicked the word with her spare hand that wasn't holding her book, feeling restless and determined with every word that fell from her mouth. "Because at least when I go to sleep tonight I know that I've done something good, just because it was good"

And yeah, I don't mind! thanks for joining in! :)

There was one thing he much preferred about Durmstrang than the other magical schools. Here, at this one, the students would fight back. There was nothing like what they had at Hogwarts. Sure the odd person would be too weak, but weakness was weeded out. It was easier to be harsh and unkind in a place like this. He didn't have to think about it. It was something that came incredibly natural to him. He liked fighting more and more. It was just more enjoyable when he wasn't thinking things through, and when he was messing with people who weren't very good at doing anything. He just enjoyed himself. He knew when the girl spoke first that he had picked the right person to pick on that day. Yevheniy didn't really pick on people often, not in the way that he was about to, but to him it made sense today to do something like that. He didn't really like the fact that he was supposed to be working hard, so he chose to not. This was what he picked to do instead. This girl in front of him, she was younger than him, by a couple of years, possibly a second or third year, he wasn't entirely sure, nor did he really care about what she was, it wasn't interesting to him. What was, was messing with her. To pick on her, instead of picking on the mudblood. She would've gotten it from someone else, and why should they be the one to have all the fun. He was bored, and this opportunity had figuratively fallen into his lap. Which was why he would do everything that he could to annoy this girl.

"A black heart?" He clutched at his chest and took a deep breath in. Faking shock and pain at what she'd said. "No, you might think yourself at the top of that, but you are nothing" He smiled at her, though it was a falsely nice smile. He didn't actually really care about her, or anything like that. He wasn't being nice to her. He took his hand off his chest and just laughed at the girl. "Don't be so f##king stupid" He closed some of the empty space between them, blocking the girl from moving forward, and at his growing height he felt he had quite the advantage. He listened to her reasoning, and while on a good and normal day he might've agreed with her, this was not one of those days and he didn't give a sh1t. "Well your dear little parents are wrong. Clearly they were of filthy blood too." He shook his head at her, "Thank goodness durmstrang can show you the right way to act." He added, bending to her level and looked straight at her. listening to those last words he chuckled. "Oh sweetheart, I sleep just fine" He put his hand on the book she was carrying and pushed down, hoping to cause it to fall out of her hand. "In fact, I bet I sleep better than the mudblood you helped. I'm sure there are plenty kids here who would rather she didn't exist. So you might've done a little bit of good, but will it be worth it when you can't help her against the might of the purist Durmstrang" Yev was not even a pureblood. He was of mixed blood but this did not actually stop him he did not care much for his blood, really, he preferred it to being mudblood. That was just the only thing he preferred. His tone as he'd spoken had gone lower, more threatening. As if accusing this nice girl of having sealed the fate of the mudblood.

Sapphira was anything but scared of this boy, she didn't much care whether he was older and taller than her, she didn't really care about him, and so she went to step around him, but stopped dead when he mentioned her parents and called them filthy blood, and then she refuced to keep her anger in check. The Durmstrang child was not caring of those who talked about her, she didn't care about other peoples appinions, but once someone said a word against her parents she felt ready to hex to whole damn school. Sapphira Blacklord was done reasoning with this boy, she would make he know never to say a word about her loved ones, even if she had to imprint it in her head. "I know I'm not nothing, thanks, and yes you have a black heart and most people probably know that." She said, making her voice hard and cold, Sapphira guessed the reason why this boy was talking to her, to tease her to rouse her, and she should have congratulated him for doing so. "And my parents weren't "filthy blood" as you call it, in fact they were pure bloods, like I am, they just had hearts and kindness, something that you probably wouldn't understand. They were Aurors in fact, they fought to keep schools like this, with smug-arse brat students like you from being killed and left in the mud by Death Eaters! And I'd appreciate it if you didn't talk about them, seeming as their dead! Killed by something as black-hearted as you!"

Sapphira felt as if her chest were being stabbed with a knife, sharp hard pains breaking into her chest as she thought of her parents being killed, as she thought of her nightmares which showed her every night, showed her mother screaming out her name and her father being struck down, lying dead in the dirt. The Durmstrang student shivered, but refused to let her tears fall in front of this boy. Every thing was silent in the all, and her excitement about her book had long vanished. Sapphira remembered what her mother had told her on the night she had died, I love you, Sapphira, and when you wake up in the morning I'll be right here. But when Sapphira had woken and ran out of her bedroom, her parents had not been there. And they had not been there ever since. Sapphira looked into his eyes, trying to send her anger and pain towards him, and simply sad. "I am the purest of Durmstrang, and I won't let people like you change me, cause I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid of you, or anyone."

It was almost boring he found when the folks he annoyed did not actually fight back. When they were dull and just let him say what he wanted. He grew more bored, more quickly. Though there was still that odd experience with the Vetrov twin which he couldn't quite explain. he liked her a lot, but he wasn't sure if his heart was really in dating her. In being something other than just folks who knew each other, and maybe folks who every so often went to each other for warmth. This with this girl in front of him was good. She wasn't afraid of him though that had never actually been in intention with her. he just wanted to annoy her. Maybe just ruin her day ever so slightly. And as she spoke, it was almost painfully clear that her family was a definite sore topic. She was clearly still very upset about it. On a good day, Yevheniy might've left it at that. Not wanting to push at something that was so clearly something she felt very strongly about, but he'd had a very boring day, and he wasn't really interested in being nice and caring towards her. He was bored, and this would be more an more fun, the more he pushed her. It wasn't going to be very nice, and this girl was not going to be too happy about it. But, it honestly would not stop him. Yev smirked at her once she finished her little speech of sorts. Yev noticed the girl seemed upset but at least had the common sense to not cry in front of him. Well, at least she was learning something.

Yevheniy in the back of his mind knew he should've just stopped, but that was not what he wanted. "Oh, poor little orphan" he blocked her path again, making sure to mimick any step that she took. "Did they die screaming?" He had never really wanted to be in the death eaters or the rising group of supremacist in the world. He just thought this would be fun. "Well, your dead auror parents sent you to the wrong school." He took a small step back, "Surely sending you here puts a massive target on your back. Best wipe out the entire family instead of just a few." He smirked at her again. "And if the death eaters were still as big as they had been they would definitely benefit from someone as gifted as me in their ranks." He finished, his voice laced with the pride that they would have at having him. "But, alas I care not for them. They are too dull. I need more fun. They are too quick to kill. I'd rather draw it out. You know, muggle still, kick until they just don't move any more." He laughed slightly. Now, Yevheniy was not as evil as this, he didn't care about people, and he didn't care about evil organisations, but this was fun. Watching this girl squirm and get upset was good.

Mehh, this is not great. Sorry!

Sapphira just could not stand this boy, she barely even knew him but she loathed him, she despised him. How dare he talk about her parents, how dare he stand there and be a disrespectful little snob. The Durmstrang girl simply had to endure as the boy went on ranting about something at she was sure to have gotten upset over, so she turned him out, his words becoming fuzzy and unclear in her ears, without meaning. Sapphira couldn't move, for he was blocking her way, and when even she went to tell him to move, his mouth would start running again, a sneer on his lips. Don't let him get to you, the girl warned herself, don't react, just leave. As soon as the boy stopped speaking of Death Eater wanting him in their ranks and killing muggleborns or something like that, she butted in, making her voice loud and clear. "If you don't mind, I have a lot more better things to do then stand here and listen to you talk yourself up. I'm quite bored and I don't need you being here making me fall asleep on the ground, so if you don't mind, could you please just shut your mouth."

The girl rounded on him, shooting to the right and heading straight for the door with her head still held high in the air. She wouldn't let this boy disrupt or ruin her day, cause the clouds were just starting to clear up. Sapphira had made her parents proud, she thought she'd done quite the job, even if the boy was too dumb to understand, she'd still stood up for them. Sapphira turned back quickly to find that the boy was still there, and spoke back to him in a faked sweet tone, one of a little girl with a lollipop in her hand. "And if you think my life is bad, being at the bottom and caring for people, than I'd hate to see how low yours is, having to tease people about their dead parents and sneering at everyone in the halls. Oh, and I happened to notice that you have no friends with you, huh, I wonder why?" And she turned with a smile still on her face.

And I thought it was alright! haha

Yevheniy had plenty fun with someone like this, even if they weren't openly reacting. He liked just knowing that they'd probably always remember him, and if ever he was bored again he could just try to find her and have another go. It was always fun to have people like that around the place. Much like how when he was feeling truly frustrated or angry he went to Alexei Vetrov because that was the one sure way of a fight, in all likelihood it would end in a fight. Which was always what he wanted in those situations. Yev smiled at her, watching as she interrupted him with her mindless chatter. He just let her talk, keeping his eyes on her and just letting her talk, he grinned at her last words. "Oh sweetheart, you are too young for me" He chuckled, just as she rounded him, and evaded his small blockade. This was so much fun. She was practically running from him in his mind. Which was funny. It was music to his ears. If he needed to just kill some time and annoy some person, here was the perfect girl. He smiled when she walked away. he was following, just keeping himself further behind. Not really thinking that this was the sort of time to continue. He wondered what was possibly going on in this girl's mind.

As she turned back to him, and spoke in a falsely sweet tone, his smile just grew. This was so perfect. This girl was the perfect target for whatever he ever had planned. She was kind where Yev would not have given a f##k. It was just all good fun. yev didn't mean any of it, mostly because he didn't care enough to mean any of it. He just smiled at her, unfazed by her words. "My life is low, but, I enjoy it anyway" He smirked, taking no steps towards her, even moving back, since this was clearly over. "Why would I need friends when I have you." He watched as she smiled and turned away. He raised a hand and waved at her. "See you around Orphan" He called to her, chuckling to himself as he turned to go in the other direction. That had been fun to him. it wasn't what most would spend their day doing, but this was durmstrang, and it wasn't like any of the professors would give him into trouble for that, when he was in trouble for much bigger things.

Sapphira didn't turn back again, she was slightly laughing though at the thought of him thinking she liked him or something, or that age was the problem, even if she was his age she would even think of it. But for some reason she'd slightly enjoyed talking to the strange mean boy with the black eye, possibly because he brought out the fire in her, keeping her quick temper alive. The Durmstrang girl knew that this wouldn't be the first and only time that they would ever talk, she was sure that the next time he was bored Sapphira would turn a corner and find him there again, ready to bait and tease her, and she was sure to be ready. But along with the anger, relief and sarcastim of talking to the boy, there was also pity for him. My life is low, after all that is what he had said, but she wouldn't let that make her feel any differently towards him. Mostly likely she would always think he was an arsehole, but still she wouldn't be afraid.

Sapphira walked, dwardling now, and felt strong that she had survived that terrible scene, that interrogation, and it was partly thanks to that boy, and she knew that she would never forget it.

Thanks for writing with me!! It was fun!! haha ^_^
