The Durmstrang teen was rather bored as she sat in Ancient Runes class and stared out of the window. It was a yuck day, as her mother would have called it, with grey clouds covering the sky and rain falling down the charmed windows, with cold air frosting over the glass. Sapphira might have listened to the Professor's lesson, had she have read the textbook and understood anything of what she was saying, and so she prayed that the Professor didn't ask her any questions. She felt tired, but knew that if she put her head down for even a second the Professor was sure to pounce on her straight away. But she couldn't help her lack of sleep, she'd had such a terrible nightmare last night, of creatures in the darkness and of being alone, she couldn't even think about it without chills running down her spin. To busy herself, the 13-year-old looked around the room, her eyes roaming over the other teenagers in her class, most of them either following every move the Professor made with their eyes or staring at their fidgeting hands, probably as bored as she was. Sapphira went back to staring out the window, watching as the dark clouds moved across the sky and the rain sprinted down, dulling the school grounds from her viewpoint.
Sapphira was normally a good girl, she did her homework and assignments, and didn't argue with teachers and professors, and she loved magic. But lately she had been getting terrible nightmares, each night a different horror unfolded before her closed eyes. She was too scared to try a sleeping spell, worried that she might do something wrong and never wake up, so she suffered through her bad dreams. Soon the class was dismissed and the students filed out, carrying books and bags, all chatter rising as the class emptied. As sapphire moved through the crowd, her mood brightened and excitement filled her, she remembered that today she was getting a new book, a new twist of Alice in Wonderland, which was her favourite story of all time. The young girl loved the adventure, loved the twists and characters, she loved the possibility and magic of it. As Sapphira got to the bottom of the spiral staircase, she saw a girl from her class drop her books as she feel, and Sapphira rushed over and bent to help her pick up her books, noticing the girls face and remembering her from classes, she was a Muggleborn witch, but Sapphira couldn't remember her name. At the girl's frightened look at seeing Sapphira helping her, Sapphira smiled kindly at her, realising that this girl had probably been bullied for being Muggleborn, or Mudblood as other Purebloods called them, though Sapphira refused to say it, feeling that it was filthy and unkind. The girl thanked her, smiling brightly, and walked away, cradling her books to her chest.
Sapphira smiled, feeling even happier and continued down the hall, feeling proud of herself. Janet and Tony Blacklord, her parents, would have been proud of her too, after all they had been just as kind-hearted as Sapphira, being the source of her good nature. The young Durmstrang girl didn't feel bad about thinking of her parents, yes, she felt sad to remember that they were dead, but she remembered and honoured them with happy memories. They had loved me, she knew, and they would be proud, I hope.
