Frannie felt a little awkward attending dances. She had thrown on a nice dress with ruffles at the bottom and put a few bows in her hair, inspired by the festive season. Having not really attended the dances last year, Frannie was trying to be better about socializing this time around and make more friends. She didn't see anybody that she felt comfortable talking to right away but heard the headmaster when he described the presents under the tree and decided to get there early, hoping to get something nice. She walked over to the tree and picked up a blue and green box, shaking it a little to see if she could decipher what was inside.

Gaia had asked Rosé to go to the ball with her, but apparently her best friend had other plans and that left the Slytherin to attend on her own. Well not really on her own since she'd taken her miniature dragon with her. Clover was perched on Gaia's shoulder as she made her way around the Great Hall, trying not to look like she ate a sour lemon. Frankly she wasn't sure why she'd bothered but socializing wasn't always a bad thing, right? Approaching a girl she'd seen around classes she stopped next to her and looked at the gifts. "What do you reckon they might have packed for gifts?" She asked the girl she'd settled next to as a form of starting conversation. Gaia wasn't too good at that part yet, but she was trying to talk to more people.

Frannie kept shaking the gift when one of her classmates popped up beside her. She was bad with names, especially with people from other houses, but she knew the girl was a second year. The Ravenclaw just couldn't place her name. "Umm, well, this one doesn't sound fragile. Just lumpy," she suggested, picking up another box and giving it a shake as well. "Same with this one. Maybe little stuffed ornaments?" she suggested.

Gaia glanced at the Ravenclaw, she was pretty sure her name started with an F or something, could have been Ph for all she knew. Leaning down she picked up one of the presents and gave it a shake. "This one isn't making much sound," she stated as the present in her hands was rather silent. She glanced back towards the girl when she said maybe they were stuffed ornaments. "Yeah, could be." She said with a nod. "Only one way to find out I suppose," Gaia said with a soft shrug as she took another gift that she might just open.

Frannie watched as the girl didn't seem to like her answer and then went for another gift. The Ravenclaw wasn't sure if they were really supposed to choose and sort through multiple gifts, but it seemed like the best way to do it. Frannie put the one she had in her hands down and picked up another box, this time hearing a bit more movement inside. "Are you going to open that one?" she asked her classmate.

Gaia glanced at the gift in her hands and then considered he question. "No I am not taking a gift for myself." She said then extending the gift to the girl with a smile. "Happy holidays," the Slytherin added, hat was the whole thing of Christmas, wasn't it? Well other than celebrating with your family something that'd happened ages ago or whatever, giving gifts and being nice to others. Gaia had never been known to be the nicest person in the room, but it wasn't too late to start trying.

Frannie was surprised by her classmate passing her a gift and decided to take it, setting the other one down. "Thank you... You're in Slytherin, right?" she said hesitantly, feeling bad that she didn't know all of the people in her year yet. She thought for a moment before undoing the bow on the gift and opening the box, revealing a festive holiday hat with a fuzzy ball on the end. It looked to be handmade, knitted or maybe crocheted - Frannie didn't know the difference - and was blue, tan, and white. She plopped it on her head and giggled. "Are you sure you don't want one?" she questioned, picking up the box from before and holding it out for the girl.

Gaia felt a genuine smile when the girl accepted the gift, even if she hadn't gotten it for her herself it still felt nice giving something to someone. Who would have thought that something so simple was actually so nice. Then again before coming to school other than her sisters she'd never had anyone to give anything to. Realizing she'd been asked a question Gaia nodded. "Yeah, you are a Ravenclaw right?" She asked back to make sure. "My name is Gaia," she told her in hopes the girl was in the same boat as her and didn't know her name. Glancing down at the gift she blinked a few times. "Oh you want to give it to me? Thank you," she smiled a little taking it. She hadn't wanted to take a gift to herself but giving one to someone else had seemed like a better use for a present. Opening her gift she took out a headband that had antlers on it with decorative Christmas lights, putting it onto her head she laughed a little. "Only missing the red nose, right?"
