Fraser had arrived back at school with everyone else, but of course on the very first morning, he had planned to come out ot the quidditch pitch, even though it was lightly snowing. He'd just wrapped up warmly, with a scarf and special gloves for exactly this. But it was still a bit cold. He was sure that once he got up into the air, and began practising, he'd warm up in no time at all. Fraser began lightly stretching, trying his best to get limber in the cold, and be good to fly around, the last thing he wanted to do was accidentally injure himself before even the try-outs.

Oz knew he wasn't that good at Quidditch. It wasn't really anything groundbreaking to say that. He could fly perfectly well, but he totally sucked as a chaser and he was surprised Chase didn't kick him off the team at some point last year. But he had made a commitment to the team and he wasn't going to let them (or himself) down by just giving up. Maybe he'd suddenly get better at shooting. Maybe the opposing keepers would get food poisoning when they played games.

Short of the former miracle or the latter disaster, Oz knew the only way he'd actually improve was if he practiced. It was a cold morning, but Oz had already come this far and figured he just had to push his way through. He noticed another figure as he reached the ground, and in consideration of his unexpected new badge figured he should also go out of his way to be at least polite while he was also pushing himself to exercise. On closer inspection, he realised it was Fraser, someone he sort of knew from classes but didn't exactly know very well. "Morning," he called with a wave as he also started stretching. "It's...a day for it, huh."

Fraser had been very surprised to receive the prefect badge in the mail, his parents had been happy, but to him it was just another responsibility he now had. The teen hadn't quite managed to get himself in the air yet, though the air was cold. He glanced at the student who joined him and immediately knew who this was. "Morning Oz," he said with a smile. "This isn't too bad, just cold," he said, trying to make it seem not as bad. "Gotta be able to play in all conditions,"

Oz supposed that was entirely fair, he probably didn't take Quidditch seriously enough (mostly due to not being very good at it) but Fraser had a point. And even if Oz wasn't planning to do anything with Quidditch after school, he still needed to be able to handle the weather while he was at school. He owed it to his team, after all. "Makes sense. Guess it's a way to keep warm," he agreed, although he was also jogging a bit on the spot to warm up before he started anyway. He gave a slightly awkward smile, since he was trying to do better at this whole being sociable thing now. "I'd offer to race, think you'd have me beat though."

Fraser nodded in agreement, playing in the snow was a good way to keep warm, though he knew you were also supposed to keep all of the layers on. That it was cold, no matter how warm it actually felt. He gave a smile at the boy and frowned a little. "Well, we won't know if I do unless we try," he replied with a bright expression, absolutely sure that this boy would probably go as far as he could. He was sure they were flying on similar enough brooms.
