Full Name
Poppy Philomena Bloxam.
She is named Poppy after her much loved grandmother
Her middle name was chosen by her godfather.

Date of Birth
12th of May, 2017.

Current Age
Ten.

Basic Appearance
Poppy has brown hair that is cut to just above her shoulders.
She inherited her brown hair from her mother.
Poppy is five feet and two inches.
She comes from a moderately tall family
(her father is six feet and four inches, and her mother is five feet and eleven inches).

Poppy's eyes are green-grey in colour.
Her father has blue-grey eyes, and her mother has green.
Poppy often wears plain t-shirts, or ones that she generally does not mind getting messy,
she also wears baggy trousers or jeans (they usually manage to get ripped after two weeks in her
possession), and trainers or no shoes at all is her preferable footwear option.

Poppy has always been a bit of a tomboy and she loves to climb trees, run around explore
new places- this is the reason why her clothes deteriorate so quickly.

Poppy has a scar on her left knee from falling out of a tree.
She often receives little scratches or bruises from her exploration.

Personality
Poppy is brave at heart.
Though she can come across as a timid individual at times, she is capable of standing up
for her friends, which she finds easier than standing up for herself. She will fight for what she
believes in and she will attempt to confront fears.

Poppy is always ready to help a friend in need when she can.
She does not like to see anyone suffer (even annoying siblings) and she will lend a hand
and support those who need it the most. She shies away from telling people of her actions, and
much prefers to know, in her heart, that she has done the right thing, rather than having many
people praising her.

Poppy prefers a small group of close friends to a large group of distant ones.
She enjoys spending time with others, though she enjoys it more if she can share a joke
with just a couple of other people, giving the laugh more personal value. She's not afraid of talking
to people she does not know, though she can be slightly selective in who she takes on as a
close friend.

Poppy has begun to develop strong morals.
She is well aware of all the prejudice in the muggle world, and she does believe in
accepting people for who they are, however, she does struggle to accept people who bully
others, and she will, generally, confront them on this, whether she intends to befriend them
or not. Bullies are one of her pet peeves.

Poppy's downfall is her knack for holding grudges.
As much as she likes people, if something nasty is done to her, she will develop a grudge.
The longer this grudge is left to stew, the worse. She is not a cruel person, but if something bad is
done to her, then Poppy will want justice in some form or another (for most things, an apology suits).

Family
Sarah Bloxam - Mother
Sarah was born on the 6th of March, 1987. She is married to Kyle Bloxam and has two children:
Poppy and Michael Bloxam. She is a hard-working muggle with a job as a reception for a law firm. She was
blissfully unaware of the wizarding world until her daughter received a letter to the magic school of Hogwarts.
Sarah was pleased that her daughter gained such an opportunity in life, and is very encouraging towards her.
She is English by blood and birth.

Kyle Bloxam - Father
Kyle was born on the 18th of November, 1986. He is married to Sarah Bloxam (Simms) and has two
children: Poppy and Michael Bloxam. Kyle has one brother. He is a down-to-earth muggle who works as a
paramedic. He knew nothing of the wizarding world, though he too accepts, and is even proud of, his daughter
for being a witch, regardless of his strong religious upbringing. He is very fond of both his son and daughter,
and spends his free time taking them for days out.

Michael Bloxam - Brother
Michael was born on the 23rd of January, 2022. He has one sister called Poppy. It is unknown whether
he is just a muggle or a muggle-born like his sister. Michael does not really understand what Poppy is, but enjoys
the extra attention he receives from his father, to compensate. He likes eating bubblegum ice-cream and dressing
up as a tiger.

Poppy Simms - Maternal Grandmother
Poppy was born in the 30th of August, 1961. She is the widow of Peter Simms and she has one daughter
called Sarah. She has a sister called June. She is aware of the wizarding world, but only really through Poppy,
though she was aware of funny going ons in the 1990's. She is very proud of her daughter and grandchildren,
and even gets on well with her son-in-law. She is a retired nurse. She still lives in England where she was born
and raised.

Peter Simms - Maternal Grandfather
Peter was born on the 7th of September, 1953. He was married to Poppy Simms and they have one
daughter together. Peter was never as observant as his wife, and did not notice all the disasters of the 90's
in the way she did. He was a retired pilot. Peter was born and raised in England, and lived there with his wife
until his death on the 3rd of November, 2025.

Mark Bloxam - Paternal Grandfather
Mark was born on the 19th of May, 1964. He is married to Susan Bloxam and they have two children
together; Michael and Paul Bloxam. Mark knows nothing of the wizarding world as Michael decided it was best
not to tell him about Poppy being a witch, due to Mark's strong religious beliefs. He is a retired bank clerk who
spends his free time helping out at his local church.

Susan Bloxam - Paternal Grandmother
Susan was born on the 5th of June, 1965. She is married to Mark Bloxam and they have two children
together; Michael and Paul Bloxam. Susan, like Mark, has not been told about Poppy's magical ability, and is
happy in the knowledge that she has two normal grandchildren. She wrote a column for a local magazine,
though she made her money as a children's author. She has returned to writing a column for another local rag.

Peter Castle - Godfather
Peter was born on the 22nd of October, 1986. He has a sister called Alison. Peter is a muggle-born wizard,
though he has never told Kyle, his childhood friend, or any other member of the family about this. He is often
hanging around the house like a second father to the children. He taught Poppy how to spot various star constellations
and Michael, how to juggle. He is very fond of the family and, ironically, when he and Kyle used to hang out as
children, was often put on a pedestal by Mrs. Susan Bloxam as a shining example for Kyle to follow. He works at the
Ministry of Magic, though his 'cover job' is a part-time children's entertainer.

Rachel Smith - Godmother
Rachel was born on the 14th of February, 1991. She has three sisters; Natasha, Hayley, and Danielle.
She is a muggle friend of Sarah Bloxam, who she works alongside at a law firm as a receptionist. Rachel knows
nothing of the wizarding world, though she does have a long-term boyfriend who happens to be a squib (she
does not realise this). She occasionally sees Poppy and Michael, and though she is pleasant enough, she is not
considered half as fun as Peter.

Pets
Currently none.
Poppy would love to own a pet, especially a wizarding one. When she attends Hogwarts, she
is likely to purchase a cat, rat, or something else low-key enough that she can keep it in the house.

Area of Residence
New Zealand.
More specifically, Ashburton, Canterbury.

Blood Status
Poppy is muggle-born.
There are no known wizards or witches in any of her immediate family, though her godfather is
actually a muggle-born wizard and her godmother is unknowingly in a relationship with a squib.

Heritage
½ British.
Poppy gets this from her mother's side.
½ New Zealander.
Poppy gets this from her father's side.

Special Abilities
None.

Interests or Hobbies
Poppy likes to climb and play.
She generally likes to give her clothes a fresh coating of mud.
She enjoys writing.
Though she finds it a bit girly, she does have a diary that she sometimes likes
to write her thoughts and day-to-day activities in.

She spends her time at the local park.
She can be found either attempting to scale a tree or leap over some obstacle.
Poppy also likes to use her imagination as a form of escapism.
This is something she did a lot before learning about the existence of Hogwarts.

Additional Skills
Poppy can only speak English.
She hopes to someday learn a second language.
She can juggle thanks to her godfather.
He also taught her to spot most star constellations.
She is good at climbing and balancing.
She can hang upside down for a good few minutes.
Poppy has never flown a broom in her life.
She is well acquainted with heights, thanks to her frequent trips up trees, and she can
balance quite well, so she could probably, with the right guidance, manage to fly. She would be
a little nervous, but she'd throw herself into having a go of it.

Strengths
Poppy is mentally strong.
In some situations, she may be shaking on the inside, but if there is one thing she is
certain of, it is that once a decision is made, it must be pushed through with. She doesn't give
up easily, and she triumphs in dire situations. She can keep a strong head to support others
when they are losing theirs.

Poppy is more positive than negative.
While she sometimes finds herself unable to be wholly positive all the time, Poppy can
make the most of a bad situation and she does try to see the up sides before the down sides.
She likes to think about the effect negative things have had on her life, and the way in which
they have actually improved it.

Poppy is willing to take the first step.
In many situations, it can be scary to take the first step, or make the first move.
Poppy does not shy away from a challenge and, though the wizarding world is still something
she has yet to fully understand, she will volunteer to go first into the unknown. If her friends
are in need of help, then Poppy will instantly act to help them out, even if it means confronting
her own fears.

Weaknesses
Poppy holds grudges.
While she has gradually begun to let the smaller things go, she still finds it difficult to
forgive those who have badly hurt her in the past, whether it is physically or mentally. She has
tried to 'forgive and forget' but, though she is gradually working through this, she cannot forgive
those who have mentally attacked her. Bruises fade quicker than bad memories.

Poppy occasionally leaps before looking.
When someone she cares about it being hurt in any way, Poppy will leap to the rescue,
however, she is sometimes blinded by her need to help others out, and doesn't always fully read
the situation before she acts. She has, sometimes, spent a long time looking before leaping, but
this usually just makes things worse. She makes a lot of snap decisions in the hope of stopping
bad situations before they get out of hand.

Poppy is starting to find it difficult to talk to boys.
She was always 'one of the guys', but, though she sees no trouble in making conversation
with boys, they have begun to act a little different around her. Poppy is too young, at present, to
see anyone as being more than just a friend, and so she does not realise why boys treat her different
to how they treat each other. She has, so far, put it down to the fact that she is a witch and new to
the world, and that that is simply how wizard boys act.

Describe your character in three words
Chivalrous.
Poppy believes in good old-fashioned chivalry; she values her morals, she is
courageous when it is called for, and she is willing to help those weaker than herself.
If she were to fight in a war, she would not leave her fallen friends.

Adventurous.
Poppy loves adventure and she does her best to discover as much as possible,
even if it means just sitting and reading a few books. She is not much of a book-worm,
but any sort of adventure is better than nothing.

Playful.
Poppy like most children, likes to have time to just mess about and have a laugh.
She is the sort to leap out of a hiding place to make someone jump, and then lure them
into a game of hide and seek. She plays games (even board games) with anyone who
will join her, and she will try to make sure others get what's fair, even if she loses out, herself.

Favourite place to be
In the living room when her father returns home.
When Poppy's father returns home from work, Poppy always likes to be the first
to greet him because this gives them a chance to talk, share details of their days, and bond.

Friends
Though Poppy has a few friends from her muggle school, she has never really
grown that close to them.

Hopefully, be too distracted by new friends (ones that understand what she is)
to even think about what she's missing.

Hogwarts House
Poppy would probably suit Gryffindor the most.
Brave at heart, and chivalrous in behaviour, she could do well with the lions as she
grows and develops as a young witch. I think they could lure out her courageous side, and
help her to be brave enough to embrace her weaknesses.

Hogwarts Hopes and Ambitions
Poppy would like to learn something about herself.
Self-discovery has always fascinated Poppy (admittedly, not as much as the history
of the wizarding world now does) and she would like to not only learn how to perform certain
spells and cast certain charms, but also learn what this means in terms of who she is as a
person. Discovering her true patronus would be a great achievement for Poppy.

Poppy would like to stand up to someone who attempts to bring her down.
She was bullied, on and off, through her later years at her muggle school (for the odd
things that sometimes happened around her) and she has no intention of letting the bullies
beat her down, again.

Poppy would certainly be interested in Quidditch.
Naturally, the game would fascinate her, however, I don't know how she would fare
with it in the sense of joining a team. I think the idea would certainly dwell in her mind for
some time, though whether or not it would result in her joining a team, is a different matter.
She might not think she's good enough to try out, though, as first years can't try out, anyway,
I think she would spend her first year attempting to master a few moves.

Poppy will settle in quite nicely.
If she can find herself a good friend or two to bond closely with, Professors that do not
completely resent her, a hobby or club to uptake, I think Poppy will really enjoy being at Hogwarts.
She would enjoy it, anyway, just from the fact that she would be in the wizarding world at a
magic school.

Best school subjects
One of Poppy's best subjects would likely be something like Defense the Dark Arts.
Not only would it be a highly useful and informative subject, but it would also
challenge her on a daily basis. It would encourage her to face her fears and help her realise
that nightmares are only upsetting dreams that go away, eventually. She might possibly have
a hidden talent for something like Herbology, though I'm not sure if that would ever be something
that really fascinates her.

The subject that would most likely be her favourite, would be History of Magic.
She would enjoy it to begin with, certainly, though for how long this love would blossom,
is somewhat unknown. Poppy could, overtime, tire of the lack of physical learning through History
of Magic, and would thirst for something more challenging (most likely Defense Against the
Dark Arts).

Worst school subjects
One of Poppy's worst subjects would probably be something like Arithmancy.
If she ever took the subject, Poppy would likely find it tiring as it requires plenty of brain
power and the ability to quickly add sums. Though she was alright with maths at school, it was
not her strongest subject, so she may struggle a bit.

Extracurricular Activities
Poppy has taken part in after school swimming lessons.
She is a strong swimmer, thanks to many lessons, and she enjoys swimming for
leisure. She was briefly part of the after school reading club, though she dropped out when
they switched from children's science fiction books, to more educational ones.

Graduation
Poppy will graduate in 2035.
She is glad that she will not have to graduate and leave Hogwarts so soon as she likes
Hogwarts a lot and would love to get to know it better before moving on to a greater scale of world.

Current Job
Poppy is a student.
When she is finally on age, she would probably like to do something at the Ministry, like
working in the department of wizarding law, or something. She would probably aspire to someday
become an auror as it would fit her morals quite well.

Plans for your future
Poppy would like to finish Hogwarts.
In the more immediate future, she is interested in getting to know more people, building
up her little book of names and addresses. She would also like to join a club at school and maybe
learn quite a few things about the wizarding world. She does plan to get a job and, possibly, to
someday get married and have children (though she has no interest in boys at the moment).

Patronus
Poppy's patronus might be a wolf.
As a strong-willed individual, Poppy, like a wolf, can survive without a pack. She benefits from
strong, daring friendships. With a wolf patronus by her side as her friend, Poppy would feel brave enough
to take on even the greatest of challenges. If her patronus is not a wolf, then it would likely be some
form of quick and strong pack animal that uses its ability to work in a team.

Patronus Memory
Poppy would likely use the memory of receiving her letter to Hogwarts.
Getting her letter was one of the most, if not the most, important change in Poppy's life.
She had never been aware of the wizarding world, though she knew she was different and the odd
things that sometimes happened to her made her worry that she was just losing her mind. The letter
gave her a reason to feel happy and excited and a little nervous. It gave her a reason to feel alive
and not give up when nasty school children told her she was rubbish and she would never amount
to anything special.

Boggart
Poppy would see a zombie.
Having read many science fiction books, Poppy is only too aware of what zombies are and
how gruesome they can appear. I think that, overtime with a gain in knowledge, she would grow to
fear Inferi rather than zombies, upon learning that they are the closest, real zombie-like creatures.

Animagus
Poppy, if she were to become one, would be a shrew.
While shrews may be small in size, they are brave and strong. It would come in quite handy
to be something small like a shrew, should she need to suddenly hide from someone, or sneak about.

Mirror of Erised
Poppy would possibly see herself holding a broomstick.
After entering Hogwarts as a student, Poppy would probably spend a lot of time trying to
understand the wizarding world and what is what. She would, no doubt, come across the subject of
Quidditch, and would probably find herself keen to learn more. I think, after her first time on a broomstick
(if all went to plan) Poppy would be keen to fly again, and would probably begin dreaming about it.

I have some questions :D

1) What does Poppy fear?

2) If she could have any pet in the world (So it doesn't matter if it can't go to Hogwarts), What would it be, and what would it be called?

3) How is Poppy's relationship with her brother Michael?

5) Why does she like to give her clothing a "fresh coating of mud"?

6) What do her parents think of her when she goes out to climb trees and get muddy?

7) Does Poppy want to visit any other countries?

8) What does she do once she'd climbed a tree?

9) If she ever did tryout for the Quidditch team, which position do you think she'd try for?

10) Why does Michael like to dress up like a Tiger, above all other animals?

Janey said:
1) What does Poppy fear?
She's not fond of a few things, though her biggest fear (thanks to comic books) is of zombies. However, she will, upon learning of them, fear Inferi.

2) If she could have any pet in the world (So it doesn't matter if it can't go to Hogwarts), What would it be, and what would it be called?
Any? Even if it couldn't really be a pet? A Swedish Short-Snout dragon called Verigan. Failing that, a pet lion would make a great challenge. She'd probably call it Tiger, just to be ironic.

3) How is Poppy's relationship with her brother Michael?
They get on well when they aren't both sick of the sight of one another. If they're bored, or their father is favouring one over the other, then they may quarrel, a little.

5) Why does she like to give her clothing a "fresh coating of mud"?
Well, why not? Poppy can't stand to have clothes so clean that they blind you. I think it's also a little bit of 'freedom of expression' coming out, in that it's something she can do and, somewhat, get away with.

6) What do her parents think of her when she goes out to climb trees and get muddy?
Her mother has grown to accept the fact, and puts newspaper down for when Poppy gets back. She still worries that Poppy will get injured from falling out of a tree, though. Mr. Bloxam encourages her to do it, because it was the sort of thing he did as a child and, as he once put it 'it's better than her doing anything really dangerous'.

7) Does Poppy want to visit any other countries?
In July (2028) she 'went' to France. She would love to visit Egypt (because of all the mystery surrounding the pyramids), and she would probably like to go to somewhere snowy and cold to try out skiing.

8) What does she do once she'd climbed a tree?
Sometimes she just sits in it, other times, she will take her diary along and write. Often, the moment she has reached the top, she takes in the view and tries to either climb back down or safely drop out of it.

9) If she ever did tryout for the Quidditch team, which position do you think she'd try for?
She's quite agile, so the Seeker position would certainly interest her. It would either be that or something like the Keeper position.

10) Why does Michael like to dress up like a Tiger, above all other animals?
Michael, like Poppy and their father, is rather fond of animals, and the tiger is the first animal he could say the the name of. It probably was encouraged by the fact that when he has ever had his face painted, his father always told him to 'be a tiger. Grr!'
Clarabella said:
1. Who would you say are Poppys closest Friends?
Currently, probably Clarabella Mayfleet and Janey Pascot. They're pretty much her only friends.

2. Where does Poppy go to muggle school? What is her experience and history there?
There is a school in Ashburton that Poppy has attended for some time. She enjoys it, and she used to be a bit of a pickle, come playtime, when her and 'the boys' would go and push and shove each other. She gets on okay with most of the teachers, but some of the newer ones find her.. 'difficult', shall we say.

3. Why doesn't she like to stay clean?
Poppy isn't totally against staying clean, but she does like to get a bit messy as it feels like she can express herself better.
