Spongebob's Spatula! I'm ready!
Lochlann Mulloy sat cross legged on the comfy leather couch a book resting on his knee, his toes wiggling. The precocious 4 year old had been teaching himself to read by studying the copious amount of books that lay about the place. So far he could only recognize a small amount of words, not enough to make entire sentences but enough to understand what was going on in the story. He was just filling in time, Hamish Kaster was coming over. The Kaster family were family friends from way back and Hamish and Lochy were the same age and naturally became friends. Hammy was great fun to play with, he always thought of the best games to play. Lochy was more on the practical side, he liked to learn things, but when Hamish came over he lost himself in the fun of running around playing all sorts of crazy games. Lochy heard a knock and tossed his book aside. Sliding off the couch he ran to the door, his face split in a grin. "Hamish!" he cried to his mum as he bounced up and down waiting for her to answer the door. When it sprung open the young boy clapped his small hands together. He was excited to see his friend and couldn't wait to play. "Come on!"he called impatiently grabbing his friends hand and pulling him into the house.

Hamish held onto Lisa's hand quietly as they crossed the road. Today was... that really long day that started with 'W', he couldn't quite remember its name, but he much preferred to eat, sleep and play, rather than learn stuff. Learning was boring, and Hamish wanted no part in it. Hamish tottered up the steps of the house that belonged to his friend, Lochy, and waited for the door to be answered. A huge grin crossed Hammy's face when he saw Lochy. "Lochy!" Hamish too was jumping up and down and clapping his hands together wildly, he was just too happy to contain his feelings at meeting his friend. Hamish followed quietly as Lochy called him inside, even allowing the boy to pull him inside, something Ham rarely let people do, mainly because he usually didn't like being forced to go places, but Lochy was always doing something interesting and fun.

Sitting on the coffee table that was in the Mulloy family living room, Hamish waited until Lisa entered the room, and then left for the kitchen to probably do grown up things with Lochy's mummy. Smiling brightly at his friend, Hamish picked up a book that was on the floor, holding it as if it had some horrifying disease that might cause him to die if he got too close to it. "What's this, Lochy?" He asked curiously, not bothering to read the book he already knew he wouldn't like. Hamish wasn't a fan of reading at all.
