Tess was in the library. Usually Tess would not go near a library but this time she decided that she should brush up on all she had learnt since she first came to Beauxbatons. Seventh year was just around the corner, Tess was not stressing or anything, she just wanted to make sure she passed her tests with good results. Tess was a perfectionist and could not stand getting a low mark. Tess had to get high marks or it would bug her for a very long time. People thought being a perfectionist was about spending time in front of the mirror and taking longer to do stuff. But it also included Tess’s grades being around the same, her clothes having a perfect match, Her hair being perfectly even, even her makeup had to be completely mirrored on the other side of her face. Because of this Tess did not wear many bold colours, if she stayed with the natural colours than they would blend easier with her skin and she would not notice it so much.

With a small sigh she picked up all the books she had taken out of the shelves. Six resting on each arm Tess carried them back to their places, life was hard being a perfectionist. Some people did not like the fact that she always had the urge to fix the things around her. But they did not understand and Tess did not care very much if they did or didn’t, why would she? Why should she let people judge her and live by that judgement? When Tess tried to put them away she lost balance for a few seconds, though it was long enough to have all 12 books fall to the ground, with a very loud ‘BANG” “Damn it!” Tess exclaimed picking them up one by one.

At times, Malachy Scythe wondered what his life would be like if he was a muggle. How his life would've turned out, if he hadn't been magical. If he was like the rest of his family. It was odd to think that it had been now 5 and a half years since he'd gotten the letter telling him that he was not just a normal 11 year boy from Ireland, but he was Malachy Scythe wizard and more awesome than light itself. Malachy was the type to think himself better than others, just because he could flick a wand and do things that others would just have to imagine. He liked he feeling powerful like that. It was just nice. He loved feeling on top of the world. And it helped that he had the charms to charm any witch. It wasn't something that Malachy boosted about because he didn't need to boast about. His elder brother had always shown the way with girls, and Malachy had found that the same tricks worked on muggles as it did on Witches. Which Malachy was pleased about, because it meant he didn't have to invent a method. It was already there, for him to just use. And that's what Malachy did. While at Beauxbatons, he hit on practically every girl that moved. And that was in between his studies. Malachy had of course not start off like that. He was a hopeless romantic in the end, but he had not found that girl that he wanted to be with for longer than a night, or for more than just arm candy. It was weird that Malachy thought in such a sense, but, he'd practically grown up with that mind set, that he didn't know what else. He liked girls. And that was fact. Girls likes him. They liked his hair, and his brown eyes. They liked the Irish accent and the way his words sounded when he attempted to speak french. But then Malachy didn't talk about girls all too often to his male friends. He didn't like making them jealous and he preferred talking sport and music. One thing about Malachy which did not really fit with his demeanor was the fact that he loved playing his guitar and singing. Of course, he was a huge fan of music, but he kept the fact he played a secret.

Malachy Scythe was returning a book to the library. And he was doing this, because he'd end up giving it in late. Malachy did not come from a rich background so he borrowed most of the books that others owned. Malachy however didn't like giving them in late, because the librarian always gave him an earful. So as much as he could he was sure to hand things back on time. It was as Malachy was looking for the new books he needed, that a large crash filled his ears. He walked over to where it had come from, and was greeted with a pretty blonde picking books off the floor. "Let me" His Irish accent sounded as he spoke english, picking up several of the books. While flashing his usual charming smile at the girl. "What are you doing with so many? You are too pretty to be sitting around reading all the time. If you're failing classes, there is no hope for anyone." Malachy Stood back up carrying half the books. She really was pretty. And this just made Malachy smile happily, and charmingly.

Tess was about to finish up when she heard a voice. The owner had an adorable accent, Tess loved guys with cute accents. It was just a girly quirk about her and many other girls. Tess smiled back, the guy was good-looking but Tess was not really in the mood for flirting. “I had to get a decent even number.” Tess explained. Tess smiled. “I hardly study, which is why I am now, I thought that if I brush up a little life will be easier at home.” She told the cute guy. Tess was scolded when she did not study, and it was not like she could lie to her parents. She respected them too much for that and they knew when she was lying so she did not bother anymore. Besides Tess disliked lying to anyone, even strangers. Tess laughed slightly. “I am far from failing.” She told him. In fact Tess did quite well in her classes because she was a perfectionist and had to get it right. Tess than walked back and forth returning the rest of the books to their rightful places, as she walked past the boy she would grab the top book and put it away. After a few minutes she had finished and she fixed her hair, tying it back instead of keeping it out. Hair was easier to control when tied back, but even this movement showed that Tessa Kaster strived for perfection in herself. “So why are you here?” Tess asked, sitting at one of the many desks in the library. “You dont look like someone who has their face in a book either.” She added with a kind and gentle smile. “Anyway I am Tessa Kaster.” She said holding out her hand. Even the way her hands looked gave anyone who was observant a clue that she was a perfectionist. Her nails were even and all painted a baby blue, never going onto her flesh and did not show any signs of cracking or dirt.

Sorry its terrible...

Malachy had grown into knowing all things about girls. Well, all he gathered from numerous partners and a thousand little smiles. So, he knew how to treat a girl, and how to make her feel special. This however did not transpire when he was actually in a relationship, which was why he kept his eyes on her, listening as she spoke. Only looking down at the books every so often, although not making it clear that he was looking at the books. he couldn't really imagine why a girl that looked like the one he had in front of him, would want to study, or would need to. Surely, she had it out easy. but, then that was really Malachy's mind getting ahead of himself. And imagining only what Malachy would actually do for grades. Malachy continued smiling although his mind was on the very beautiful muggle studies teacher. Malachy did enjoy getting good grades to rub it in the teacher's faces, the ones that thought that he was a good for nothing jerk. But Malachy was. just a smarter than would appear jerk. "Surely your home life isn't that bad," Malachy just said simply, his irish accent lacing itself into his words. He did play up his Irish accent, it wasn't so strong anymore when he just spoke normally, but then where was the fun in that. An irish accent was like gold. And it was an upbeat one at that. Malachy just nodded as she spoke, handing her a book every so often that she then put away. The girl knew her way around a library. Malachy wasn't a very library person. He put up with them, and didn't go into them for very long. And on top of that, if Malachy ever wanted something he asked someone else to get it for him. He couldn't see the point in him having to spend a whole load of time attempting to find books, when he could just ask some girl, smile charmingly and get it in a few minutes. And be studying a lot quicker. It seemed silly that people would spend hours looking for books.

"Me?" Malachy shrugged at her question. "I was giving back a book. Returning it. I unlike you, are on the brinks of failing. So I had brush up. It was fruitless. The stuff just doesn't go into my poor irish brain. Also doesn't help the books are mostly in French." Malachy said to her speaking quietly so he didn't get yelled at by the librarian. He wasn't actually on the brink of failing, he could pass all his classes fine. The french was still quiet hard for him, but he didn't want to appear nerdy. Or Geeky, or someone that repulsed girls. That wasn't his method. He wasn't the guy who was your friend for a long time, and then given a tiny shot. He was the guy who would smile charmingly, as he was doing, compliment, as he would do. And act like he'd never seen a creature so beautiful. Malachy walked to the table as the girl introduced herself. Malachy took her hand and kissed it, before sitting down opposite her. "Malachy Scythe. Scythe, like the sword. You have a beautiful name, Tessa." Malachy complimented. "What year are you in? I can't believe we haven't met before."

Tess laughed softly. “It is not bad, and I would like to keep it that way.” Tess told him. Tess did not live the best life on the planet but she liked it that way. With having so many siblings and such a big family it made Tess a slightly mean and cunning girl, she would have to outsmart her older brothers and sisters and be better and a role model to her younger brother and sisters. This also made Tess a very adaptable and even girl, she could play up to long blonde curls and beautiful smile, but could also tie back the hair and put out a fight if need be. Having such a large family also made her a family orientated girl, not in the way that she wanted kid of her own, but the way that it made her respect her family and never betray them, to be there for them and to constantly help them through the tough times, even if it meant that she would have to injure the storm with them. A trait about Tessa Kaster that not many people understood, in fact it surprised Tess greatly that people at Beauxbatons and France itself did not have the same thoughts about family as the young Australian had about her own. As Tess worked she observed the boy. He seemed to know alot about what to do when in the presents of a girl. Sit back, watch them, listen to them and never interrupt them. They were some of the rules that not many boys understood, they never seemed to let a girl talk and that would aggravate the girl greatly. Tess was not a book worm or a library junky, in fact this was one of the few moments she was here. But Tess was a perfectionist and hardly ever got something wrong or got lost, it was physically impossible for her to not remember her way around.

The boys response to her question made Tess laugh. “You mean you are telling me that you came to a French school, in France where nearly everyone would be speaking French, without actually learning French?” She questioned with a small shake of the head. The boy seemed to be slightly stupid, much like her brother. Tess was now using her very strong Australian accent. She rarely used it but brought it out from time to time, it was an enjoyable and exciting accent that could rarely be picked up. It was one of the accents that made the user sound interesting and wild. This was how Tess usually made close friends with boys, they were drawn to such an accent in a girl. The accent told them that Tess was not afraid to knock some heads around and get her hands dirty, but also gave the message of adventure and brilliance. Tess however did not like the kiss on the hand but hide it very well behind what seemed like a fluttered smile. Tess was not one for being kissed on the hand, it seemed to weird and ancient to her. Unlike most girls Tess enjoyed some ancient traditions but kissing a girls hand was not one of them. Tess continued to smile. “Well Malachy Scythe, as in the sword, you too have quite an interesting name.” Tess complimented, with a small joke thrown in. Tess, like many of her siblings found it hard to be fully serious when comfortable, being serious was completely overrated. “6th, but I can. I usually hang around people that can speak French.” Tessa explained to him. Tess enjoyed speaking French, especially when using her Australian accent, it sounded even better when not used for English words.

Malachy Scythe was not a family man. He had forsaken his family and left for the better life. One he would lead in the best of places. In the magical world. Apart from all that he had known and all that had known him. of course he had to visit. He was Irish after all, and his family had meant a lot to him before the magic. But, now it was a chore to have to visit them each summer for close to six weeks. Malachy spent most of that time with the youngest of his sisters or playing the guitar. And the other part of his time, was spent out with his muggle brother. A Brother that he did not mind not being a wizard with him. For Malachy thought it would be best if he was the only one of them who could actually do anything worthwhile. But then, Malachy had been so wrapped up in his little world that he had not really noticed what was going on in his family. The eldest, and the only sibling older than Malachy was now working at a company and getting promising results and the two younger sisters, Eilidh and Briana had both shown early signs of magic. Malachy was still sure he would be the only one of his family to be of magical blood. It had always puzzled Malachy as to why it had been him over all others. Malachy had not exactly been the smartest to begin with, most would actually say that he was a pretty bad person. And that he wasn't really into caring that much about others. This hadn't really changed. In fact it had most likely gotten worse, considering he was now sitting in front of a very beautiful blonde and all he could think about was how much he wanted to be with her, just for one night. malachy was somewhat of a free kind of guy. He hated being tied down more than anything, and he ran from any form of commitment as if it was a ghost or a daemon. He just did not handle those things well. Which was why, he just smiled at Tessa andmade it look like he was more interested in her than he was of his own heartbeat. This was of course false, he really had no interest in her what so ever. She seemed nice, maybe a possible friend, but a girl that was a friend was not something that Malachy had many of.

"I came to France, because, It was new" Malachy said in french a smile upon his face, as if he knew a secret a big secret. But obviously it was just that Malachy did speak french, he just chose to not more often that not. He had trouble reading it some times, but he was more or less perfect in the language. "Just because I prefer english, doesn't mean I don't speak French. I mean, I could ask you the same question, since you are clearly not from around here. The Aussie in your accent gives you Tessa." Malachy continued smiling at her, never moving his eyes away from her. He wasn't looking anywhere inappropriate. Malachy was keeping his eyes on her eyes. It meant that it looked like he was interested in her as a friend and not as something else. It was the tricks of the trade, which his brother had taught him. Malachy nodded. He gave a small laugh, "I have an interesting name, because, by law, Irish people need to have interest names. It's a trade mark, along with the accent. It's like if you a ginger kid, he's Scottish, or one of his parents are. All Scottish people have the ginger gene. All Irish folk have the interesting name gene. You should hear my brothers." Malachy knew he would sound silly and that the girl would be in a complete WTF phase, but it was all part of Malachy. Malachy was the kind of guy who liked to make the girl feel better than him. Smarter. "I'm a sixth year too, and I most hang around with any guy or girl who appreciates fine art and exercise. But you wouldn't need to exercise, you are perfect Tessa and I do not say that often. You come from a big family right?" Malachy knew the signs of coming from a big family. He did too. He had 4 siblings and since he'd grown up with most of them, he knew when someone else was. It was the same as only children being really easy to spot by other only children.

Tess rolled her emerald eyes at Malachy. “Smarty.” She commented. Tess did however wonder how someone could speak a language but not read it, when Tessa learnt a language she could also read it as could most of the other people she knew. “Ok, just stop being so smug will you?” She asked. Tess like Malachy, but she would be perfectly happy to have him as a friend, he did not seem interested in her for any other reason and she was fine with that. “But you are right, I am Australian, though not many people can pick up the accent unless I decided to use it strongly.” Tess told him. Since she had been in France for so long the Aussie in her accent was disappearing, and now that her family lived in New Zealand did not help the accent stay at all, in fact it helped in its retreat. Tess was slightly confused, actually she was very confused. The confusion made her laugh, though she was not sure why. Tess had no idea what he was going on about at all and to be honest the blonde was not sure she would understand any time soon. “Umm I have no idea what you are talking about, but OK.” Tess said, and then continued laughing. Malachy was a confusing and weird boy. Tess nodded and smiled when Malachy mentioned art. Tess loved art and loved playing the flute, it was the only instrument that she enjoyed playing. Most people did not know why Tess had such interest for the flute, nor did Tess. She just liked the sweet sounds it could make when played correctly. Tess nodded. “A huge family.” She told him. The Kaster clan was not big, it was huge. Tess had seven siblings all with a wide range of personalities and quirks and annoyances, but all of them had green eyes and most had blonde hair. “There are eight of us, including myself.” She added, though her mother was expecting another child. Tess knew that people could easily tell that she came from a big family, the fact that she could take alot of noise and strain was one of the many reasons, but Tess’s family was unique, both her parents were magical but three of her siblings were non-magical, a fact that made Tess quiet curious about bloodlines, why muggleborns were muggleborns and why purebloods were purebloods.
