Cyrus was acutely aware of his grades, and how disappointing they were so far. He was determined to do a bit better this year, as the fourth year was an important one. So even though it was only the first week of classes, Cyrus had headed to the library before dinner to get some studying in. He'd propped his Herbology book open and was copying over a diagram of a plant, though his own recreation of the illustration wasn't nearly as good. It did help him memorize the different parts of the Bubotuber, as gross looking as it was. He wondered if they were really going to work with these plants this semester, it didn't seem pleasant. After finishing the drawing, Cyrus wiped his quill clean and put it down before flipping the page. He had just a few more pages to go through and take notes on, then he'd go eat. Or maybe he'd have a quick look at his History of Magic essay instead, that was also important.

Cassandra was still getting used to the new time zone, seriously who would have thought going across the globe would come with a drastic time change. Anyhow she thought it'd be a good opportunity to get a good start on her studies before dinner. Even though she had every intention to make the year as fun as she possibly could, she still wouldn't let her studies take a hit for it. With a few books in hand she walked to the library looking for a nice spot to sit. Spotting a guy she'd seen in her History of Magic lesson Cassie made her way over to him. "Mind if I join you?" She asked softly and sat down, what she'd asked at least? Who said she would wait for approval.

Cyrus looked up when someone approached him, feeling oddly nervous as he saw who it was. He had seen the new girl in classes and had heard some of his classmates talk about her. So he knew her name was Cassandra and shew as in Gryffindor, but not much else. He nodded, moving some of his stuff out of the way so she had more room. "Sure. I mean, I don't mind." He said with a quick smile.

Cassie gave a quick smile to the boy, there were so many new people so far that she'd not been able to pick up any names other than those she shared a dorm with and her Professors. So as she opened her book for Arithmancy she looked up at the boy. "Sorry, may I ask what was your name again? There's so many new people that it's taking quite a bit to pick up names." She asked curiously, leaning her chin to her hand. It wouldn't hurt to get to know her classmates now would it?

Cyrus glanced over at the girl's book curiously as she sat down. It wasn't a subject he took, and as he looked at all the confusing numbers he was glad he didn't. He then looked at Cassandra as she spoke to him, nodding. He could understand not knowing everyone's names yet. It had only been a few days. "Of course. I'm Cyrus Thorne, nice to meet you." He said with a nod. "How are you liking it here so far?" He asked as he adjusted his notes a little.

Cassandra smiled at Cyrus and nodded. "I'm Cassandra Cohen though you can just call me Cassie. Only my mum an dad call me Cassandra anymore." She said with a slight laugh. Cassie was about to look at the first page in her book, just to at least be able to say she tried to study when she was asked a question. The brunette thought on it for a second. "Hm it's definitely different to Scotland and obviously to the school I attended back in London before that owl came knocking on my door," She joked, it had been a weird day that one. "No but seriously apart from the drastic change in time it's been really good so far. I really wanted a change of scenery and people. This is definitely a breath of fresh air." She added with honesty, she had nothing to complain about.

Cyrus nodded as Cassandra introduced herself, choosing not to tell her he already knew her name in case it came across as creepy. He was glad to know he could call her Cassie, though. Even if it was also a little strange. "So you're from Hogwarts in Scotland, then? Is it very different there?" He had often thought the castle there had to be... realer somehow. More authentic. He wondered if that was true. It was an old castle in Scotland. It probably would feel a bit less... out of place there. He nodded as she spoke about a change of scenery and people, though he doubted he would ever be brave enough to do something like a transfer himself. He'd also miss Ruth more than he'd like to admit. "I see, well... glad you're enjoying it so far." He said with a hesitant smile.
