Veronica had been looking forward to the next village outing. The last one had been a disaster but she had moved on and things had changed. She had miraculously, with loads of help from Ken and Josh recovered from her break up and now she was planning on making things become smooth again. She was talking to Zac and not avoiding him anymore like she had done previously and she was glad about that. This time she had planned an outing to the village where she wanted to go with a bunch of her friends as she was single. She had sent owls to Zac, Sally and Scipio. She did want to invited Ken and Josh but they wouldn't be comfortable around each other therefore she hadn't owled them. She hoped that her three friends would turn up so she could have some good time at the village.The owls were sent the previous night.

Next morning Veronica dressed up and was ready to leave.As always Veronica was into the current fashion and her outfitrevealed that. She had recently bought it on a shopping trip with her friend Rosie and having found another fashionable person resulted into her picking the best outfit in the shop.She waited for the others in the common room like they had agreed.Yes, you are going to have simple fun with your friends. Simple and plain..no drama she thought happily.
 
Zac wasn't planning on going to the village, he was planning to sleep all day. He knew that his sister was going there, he wanted to go there with her but she would be with Scipio and he didn't want to bother her. But unfortunately, an owl flew toward Zac and dropped him a letter. He read it and it was an invitation from Veronica, his ex girlfriend. He was cool with her now, he didn't mind talking to her or being friends with her. Zac decided to throw a white polo shirt and random pants and shoes and walk toward the common room and spotted Veronica there.

Zac slammed himself to the couch feeling sleepy. "If it's not for you, I wont be going" He muttered, he was glad that Veronica was no longer mad at him. And she was more like a sister to him. He shut his eyes as he felt the soft couch bellow him, he wasn't going to get up unless all the pals that Veronica invited gathered. "Is it going to be the two of us or are you inviting the others?" Zac asked with his sleepy voice, still laying on the couch, shutting his eyes.
 
Veronica smiled as she watched Zac walk into the common room in a sleepy manner and grab a seat on the couch. She knew Zac to well to know that he wouldn't be bothered to attend the village trip by himself and for that very reason she had made it her duty to get him out of the castle walls when possible. "Thanks for that" she said with a smile as she watched him close his eyes and rest his head on the couch back. "I've invited Sally and Scipio" she told him.Although it would have been good if she went with Zac alone but she didn't want people thinking that they were together again. "You and Scipio seem like you could use some company on such days" she added with a smirk.
 
Zac pulled the pillow closer still shutting his eyes. "Scipio's my room mate and he's asleep or maybe he's gone. I don't know, I can't remember and Sally... I don't know about her" He was enjoying himself laying on the comfortable couch all by himself. "Veronica" He called her still shutting his eyes. "Can we get ice cream later on?" He said like a little boy. Zac could never be sane when he was sleepy, especially in the morning. He always skip breakfast, he'd rather sleep than eating. But lunch... He could never skip that, lunch was too precious to be skipped. "Ughh!! Where are the others!?" He groaned as he sat down opening his eyes slowly. He was still sleepy, and he looked like an idiot for doing that.
 
Veronica waited for like ten minutes feeling very bored especially because Scip and Sally wouldn't turn up. Ugh! she thought in her head losing patience. "Yeah sure" she said with a grin as she watched Zac's sleepy behavior. There was no sign of the others and it was getting late. "I guess they won't show up" she said wondering if this had anything to do with Sally being angry at her for the break up with Zac which from all angles wasn't her fault.

"Lets get going. If they feel like they'll find us in the village" she suggested with a smile as she pulled him up and held his arm hoping he wouldn't stumble because she was not sure whether the conversation they had been having was at Zac's conscious state of mind or not.
 
Zac stood still still shutting his eyes and felt himself being pulled by Veronica. He stood up and stumble and stood up straight. "Calm down there!" He yawned and walk away from the common room. He followed wherever Veronica went. "Let's just walk to the village" He said, Zac enjoyed enjoyed walking, it was a hobby of his. "Hey so how are you? Seeing anyone lately?" He asked randomly, he did wanted to know who she was going out with even though he didn't mind if she was going out with someone. "If it's private then... Don't answer it" He smiled and look at the sky which was filled with cloud. It was quite humid that day, if it would be warm in the afternoon then they should sweat a lot and he hated that. "I think Scipio and Sally's hanging together or they overslept. But... My sister wakes up in the morning all the time... Where are they...?!" He scratched his head and shrugged.
 
Veronica walked slowly through the forest path that was surprisingly not covered with snow. She thought it was so cold but unfortunately it hadn't snowed last night like she had expected. They still awaited the first snow fall but maybe it would be late this year with all the global warming and climatic changes going on. "Yeah sure" she said with a grin as she walked beside Zac and entered the village. He was right they could stroll around for a while and maybe get a butterbeer later. She was glad that at least Zac decided to show up but then she could understand that Scip and Sally would have wanted to be alone or something.

She ran a hand through her blonde hair which had some pink highlights. She didn't know whether to tell Zac that she was seeing Joshua or not because Joshua and Veronica hadn't made it public yet and she was not sure if it was right to tell him. "Yeah...we just got together two days back" she told him and tucked her palms into her pocket. "I'm seeing Joshua" she told him because she was curious to see his reaction and she only hoped that he wouldn't be mad or hurt. She had no idea where Sally and Scip were or whether they would join them or not. "Maybe they didn't like the idea of going out with me" she said murmured wondering if Sally could still be mad at her.
 
Zac was quite surprised when Veronica said that she was going out with Joshua, the mate of his. He was a little mad at Joshua, why would he go out with Zac's ex. If they were best mates then Joshua should understand him. But if it made her happy then why not? After all he wanted the best for her, that's what you call friends, right? "Joshua?" He muttered, his facial expression showed that he was a little disappointed but he quickly plastered on his smile. "That's great" He nudged her playfully. `okayyy look at the bright side Zac!` He thought. "Thanks for inviting me to the village, even though you're with Josh" He smiled at her. He was happy that Veronica would hang out with him even though she was with someone else and even though he broke her heart and the other way around.

Soon, the village was in front of them. He could see students having fun there and he was sure that those psychopaths weren't there. He shook his head and let out a small laugh when she said that perhaps Sally didn't like the idea of them going out. "Naww... Maybe Sally's waiting for Scip. After all they're together right? She can't just leave him alone. She's not mad at you anyway, this has nothing to do with her... I guess...? Yeah I'm sure of that" He did saw Sally yelling at him about his ex but that was when Sally was in Beauxbaton, not in Durmstrang. Sometimes she would ask him where Veronica was and wanted to hang out with her. So he was sure that she wasn't mad at her.
 
Veronica watched Zac's expression and she could clearly see the first tone of surprise which was of course later followed by a smile like she had expected. Many people would find it weird to know that she was dating someone who dated guys previously but she had started liking him and feeling the chemistry between them. "Anytime. After all I am not one of those who become crazy behind their guy and forget their friends" she said with a big smile.She was happy that after all that had happened between Zac and her she was able to forgive him and have him as a friend.

As they walked through the main road of the small village she saw some familiar faces all enjoying themselves. It was good to be around happiness as it gave one positive vibes. Veronica nodded understanding that Sally must be with Scip. She spotted one of the kids having the candy bucket and in an instant like a little child she wanted candy. Veronica always had a sweet tooth and now it was in action. "Lets go get some candies" she said with a grin as she walked to one of the sweet stores.
 
Zac shrugged and watch her walk to one of the sweet stores, he opened the door and let her walk through the door and closed it when she was inside. His eyes started to roam around the place and spotted a box of Japanese mochi. He took it and brought it to the counter and paid. As soon as he paid, he walk over to Veronica and opened the box. "Try it" He took one of it and circle her head with it and laughed. "Just a bite?" He smiled innocently to her and let her bit it if she want. He then took another one and ate it, it had been a while since Zac ate mochi, when he was home he was always eating Chinese food instead of Korean and Japanese. But sometimes his mother would cook Japanese or Korean if she was in the mood. After all, the house elf did it, not the family.

Zac was still surprised that Veronica was with his best mate, Joshua. "So... How's Joshua? He's no longer my room mate, I'm sharing my bedroom with Scipio" He said feeling a little jealous but he was trying to cover it. Most people wouldn't know what he felt deep inside his heart except his sister Sally. Even his parents or his other siblings couldn't tell since he stayed apart from them. But he lived with Sally and when Sally used to live in Paris, she used to come over to Sofia and stayed over at Zac's. "Send my regards to him when you see him" He winked and forced him self to smile. He then started to walk around the racks trying to find other candies, he wasn't a big fan of candies but he was okay with it since Vivian loved them. "Hey have you ever met Vivian and Brad?" She might wonder who they were, they were his younger brother and sister and had been away for a while.
 
Veronica grinned as they entered the sweet shop. The air smelled of sweets and candies and she loved this smell. She walked to the counter and got one of her favorite sweet, the every flavored beans. Although some flavors she disliked but she loved trying them and seeing how they tasted. She paid for her sweets and left the store. She eyed the candy that Zac was offering because she was well aware of existence of prank candies and their effects however Zac was concerned here and therefore she tasted it.It was quite nice, a new taste but nice. "Its nice. Thanks" she said with a smile as they continued their walk.

Veronica was a little surprised to learn that Zac and Josh were no longer roomies. "Ow..okay" she said remembering that it was obvious that Scip and Zac would be roomies now. "He's fine. After his break up with Ken over the holidays he had been a little off but everything's okay now" she informed with a smile. It was surprising to see Zac react so normally around Josh's topic but it was a good thing. "Sure, I'll tell him" she said with a smile. She tried one of the beans and luckily it was cherry and not chilly. "Want some?"She offered and then shook her head. "Who're they?"she asked wondering if they were related to Zac, cousins maybe.
 
Zac decided to buy another box of mochi but this time it was Korean mochi for his sister. He knew that she loved Korean food since she's half Korean. Zac then took the candy from Veronica and ate it. It tasted nice "My treat" He took it to the counter and pay it as well. He then handed it back to Veronica and put the mochi boxes to a plastic bag as his eyes started to wander around the shops trying to find if there was any other candy that he could buy for him or his sister. If Vivian was here, she would walk right to the bubble gum racks, he let out a small chuckle as he remember the younger sister of his. The twins were unique, and they were intelligent as well, but Sally still be the princess of the family.

Zac rose his eyebrow as he smiled at Veronica "They're my younger brother and sister. I'll introduce them to you. They're either going to go to Hogwarts or Beauxbaton" He said, but he was sure that they were going to Hogwarts since his father had confirmed him about putting them into Hogwarts New Zealand instead of Scotland. "My cousins, Saria and Genvieve are transferring to Durmstrang if I'm not mistaken. Well it's either Beauxbaton or Durmstrang" He was going to owl them and find out.
 
Veronica laughed as Zac went to the counter and said that he was treating her. "I'll treat you some butterbeer" she said with a smile because she needed to spend her money otherwise the whole fun of coming to the village would be nothing. Veronica caught Zac's chuckle and she wondered what he was thinking about but she didn't ask because she wouldn't want someone asking for her thoughts.

"Wow! They are twins" she said surprised that she didn't know for so long that Zac had two more siblings. When she heard that they were going to other schools she smiled happily. "Thats good. Durmstrang's too dark for those good souls" she told him as they walked through the village. Veronica couldn't help but wonder how many children were there in total in Zac's extended family. "That's a lot of people. Must be fun hanging out in holidays and shouting till the roof falls" she said hoping that even she could have a sibling or two. The manor's children were all ill and unable to behave normally. She had gotten close to Jasper but even he was unable to share some things with her. The only hope was that she would have many children of her own so that they would never be lonely like herself.
 
Zac then shrugged when Veronica said that she was going to treat him a butterbeer, firstly he wasn't a big fan of butterbeer and the second he wont let girls pay "It's alright, Veronica" He smiled at her. Zac's father told him that he shouldn't let girls treat him, that would be awkward and that would be rude. Zac's father gave him a lot of money as well so he didn't mind buying stuff for his siblings or his friend. "I like treating other people" He winked and walk toward a yogurt shop somewhere in the corner. He ordered a medium with some toppings on it and looked over his shoulder trying to see if Veronica wanted it, he was signaling her to order something. As soon as he reach the counter, he took his money and pay the whole thing.

"Yeah my family's alright I guess. If my cousins are going to Durmstrang then I'll introduce them to you, they're also twins. It's awkward that there were a lot of twins especially in Hogwarts" The brown eyed boy smiled at her and ate his yogurt. "What about you? What about your mom? Is she okay now?" He was still worried about Veronica and her mother even though he was no longer with her. "Usually we'll go shopping and the girls will be crazy after that. I get along with most of them so..." He shrugged and smiled.
 
Veronica smiled at Zac when he said it was alright. He was still the same gentlemen she had known and it looked like that was never going to change. It was so sweet of him to treat her. She followed him to the yogurt store because she was big fan of dairy products. Although her favorite flavour of ice cream and milk shake was chocolate but she loved strawberry yogurt. She ordered one for herself. "You're doing a good job on spoiling me. Now I might want to come with you on this trips all the time" she said and then laughed as she watched him pay.

She was surprised to hear that Zac's cousins were even twins. She would love to meet his twin siblings and cousins someday and see if the whole family was just as polite and kind like the two Kuangs she knew. She shrugged when he asked her about Dympna. Veronica was having no progress with her mother's case and all the kids in the manor were making it clear that something was absolutely wrong. "I think that my mother's manor is under a sort of curse or something. All the kids there are constantly ill in a weird way and if I ask them about it...it's like they are forbidden to speak of it" she explained Zac. Veronica was determined however to solve this problem one day. "One of my adoptive sibling attends Durmstrang. Jasper Clow is a third year and I have recently grown close to him but he has this same problem like the other kids...even whilst a Durmstrang"
 
Zac laughed when Veronica told him that he did a good job on spoiling her. Treating someone else, especially a girl was automatic for him. He could never let a girl pay for him, it was odd and he thought it was a little rude since he should be the one who treat them. "If you can wake me up in the morning then I don't mind treating you" He winked and laughed, Zac's major problem was waking up early in the morning. His sister could always wake up early, but not Zac. He was different, he was one of those who could sleep until 2 o clock instead of waking up at 7 in the morning. But he was one of those who could stay awake until 7 in the morning and then sleep. "You'll be needing a lot of help to do that, and you're on your own I'm not helping you waking me up" Once more, the brown eyed boy laughed before eating his yogurt.

Zac was surprised that the manor was under a curse, why would anyone want to do that? Zac had never live in crazy places like that and he could never imagine if his family was violent. "What's the purpose on that? Maybe you can break the curse" He was worried of the kids who lived there, he could never imagine if he was in there. "Ill? Is he okay? Do you think they need help? Shall we report this to the ministry??" Zac was getting worried and paranoid even though he knew nothing about them. But safety had to come first no matter what happen and Zac's relatives were in the ministry so he could contact them easily. "Why would your mom adopt kids if she don't even feed you!!!??" He raised his voice, he knew that it was none of his business but he was worried to death about those who live in that place.
 
Veronica smirked when he pointed out that she would have to wake him up. Veronica had just had her third experience on 'waking up Zac' and she had to admit that it wasn't better than the last two. Zac was the deepest sleeper she had met and she wondered sometimes if he snored and if he did how did Scipio tolerate that? It was a funny topic of thought now that she thought about it. "I'll plan out some ways of waking you" she said with a grin and ate her strawberry yogurt. "Your sis will give me some handy tips" she announced happily. Now that she was roomies with Sally it would be much easier to get to know more things about Zac.

She had expected a much similar reaction from him on mentioning about the curse. She waited as he listed one question after another and concern for her easily showed in his tone and she was grateful for that. She took a deep breath and gave him a weak smile before explaining further on her theory "Jasper I think is under a treatment at the moment, of what sort exactly I don't know. As for why the manor is cursed, I am trying to find out. We can't report this to the ministry because my mom will probably kill me for doing that. She said she is taking care of it but I am not so sure. Sometimes...." she broke off wondering how to tell him this because she was sure that he would get more angry and worried for her.

"I think my mother is well aware of what is going on and somehow she is in it. I mean...I think she is adopting the kids for a reason...like training them or using them for something and whatever that is that is being done to them is making them ill" she said with a sigh of sadness. "She has stopped starving me and such but she's rich so money is not a problem" Veronica told Zac as she ate some more yogurt. "She has forbidden me from going into the basement. I think something is going on there"
 
Zac knew that even if he wanted Veronica to get out of that place, he couldn't make her. After all the woman was her mother and she need to do it by herself. "Do you want me to report it to the ministry? Or are you fine with it?" He asked worriedly as he stopped her and looked at her in the eye. "If you EVER need me, tell me or come to my house or whatever. I just want you to be safe. Okay?" He eyed her seriously and a soft smile appear on his face before he started walking again. There was no eros in him, he was trying to be a good friend for Veronica. He wanted all his friends and families to be safe since he had never experience those kind of things. None of the Kuangs were like that, only Brad who was a little violent but he did that only to protect him self not for fun.

Zac decided to change the subject since he knew that he could do nothing about it. "You know... Even my sister had been struggling waking me up, so if you could then I'll treat you more stuff" He grinned as he threw away the yogurt cup and stretch his arms to the air. "It feels good to get out of the castle, it had been a while, huh?" He shut his eyes for several second and opened it again. He loved going out to the village especially with his friends or siblings, it was refreshing for him. He wasn't a big fan of the castle since it had a wierd aura. "I'm wondering what the loverbirds are doing" He was referring to Scipio and Sally.
 
Veronica sighed slightly because she was confused on understanding how Zac could be so helpful and friendly to her. She looked up at him and met his eyes and replied "I'm fine right now and it will be solved soon." Zac was concerned about her well being and she could understand that because she would feel the same way for him were he to be in any trouble. She nodded and gave him a smile as she said "I promise to take care of myself and be in your fireplace or doorstep anytime I need you." She was glad that he had promised to help her at any time and would be ever grateful to him for that. She hadn't yet got the chance to explain to Joshua about her family therefore Zac was the only person who knew this, her secret keeper.

As they started walking again she ate her yogurt slowly and gazed at the rising horizon of the mountains. The Durmstrang castle was on a mountain of sorts and these mountains were in chain of sorts, the view was so beautiful. "That sounds like a fair deal" she said with a chuckle as she heard from Zac that even Sally had trouble in waking him up. "It has been a long while" she agreed as she threw her yogurt trash into a near by dustbin. It had been a month and a half since their break up and with all the academic load this trip seemed like it was after ages.

"Sally said you have started staying up after midnight from a while, what's going on?" she asked wondering if Zac would share it with her or not. Veronica had told everything about herself to Zac and she wanted to know if he would do the same, trust her in that way. "The lovebirds...hmm...maybe holding hands and drinking butterbeer somewhere...that would certainly help in this cold" she said and just as she said she felt something. It was soft and white, she looked up to see snowflakes of irregular shapes were falling from the sky, it was snowing! It was the first snow of the season! She spread out her hands and looking up at the sky she twirled herself enjoying the snow flakes.
 
Zac wasn't stabile yet, sometimes he would walk all by himself and sometimes with friends, he didn't know why he was doing such things and sometimes he wasn't himself which was worse. Perhaps he wasn't over the break up of the blonde girl beside him? He wasn't sure, and that was why the question of hers hit him so bad. He didn't know what to answer and he didn't know why his sister would tell other people about his habit. Zac used to be like that, back in the mansion so he was going to lie, but Zac wasn't a good liar, sometimes people would caught him but he wasn't sure this time. He tried as hard as he could to act `normal` . "I don't know... I can't sleep I guess" It was half true, he couldn't sleep but he had so many things in his mind that he sometimes heard voices from his head telling him what to do, and sometimes the voices was `bad`.

Zac was glad that the snowflake fell from the sky, that way, he didn't have to talk about his little `problem`. He was surprised that it was snowing, since the weather wasn't that cold and it was going to be Summer. "This is crazy, climate's crazy lately" He scratched his head and smiled at Veronica who was happy because of snow falling from the sky. "Isn't it suppose to be Summer?" He rose his eyebrow looking at the sky, he was wondering if someone casted a `snow maker` spell, well that is if it existed. What was worse was that he didn't bring a jacket and he wasn't sure if Veronica brought one. "Hey do you bring any coat? If not then let's go buy one" Zac was going to pay for Veronica if she didn't bring her jacket.

The store was in front of their eyes as Zac walked into the store holding the door handle letting Veronica in. He walk toward the racks and founded a black coat similar to his, he then walk away from it and found one that was hung on the wall. He grabbed it and tried it on and look at himself in the mirror. "What do you think? Handsome as usual?" He smirked and nudge her playfully. He walk toward the cashier and paid for his coat and wore it. He then rose his eyebrow waiting for Veronica, he wanted to pay for her too.
 
Veronica was much lost in the snowflakes that she half heard his reply, to her it seemed quite normal that he couldn't get sleep but she forgot the fact that it happened almost everyday. The first snow of the season usually made her go crazy and having it so unexpectedly in middle of a village trip was so much more fun. She laughed as Zac said that it was supposed to be summer.
"No silly, you're confused with the weather patterns. We aren't in NewZealand...its summer in southern hemisphere and winter in the Northern hemisphere" she reminded him as she ruffled his hair.

As she was still dancing in the snow, Zac's question reminded her that she hadn't bought any clothes for the winter. "How could I be so stupid? Now all the amazing winter section would be coming to an end!!!" she said cursing herself as she walked into the cloth store with him hoping that she would find some cool winter clothes still available. She watched Zac try one of the coats and grinned at his question "Handsome more than the usual, I think the cold make's your skin look better" she commented with a smile as she scanned the female section for a coat.

She spotted a few brown ones but they weren't attractive. A leather biker jacket caught her eye and trying it on she asked "Does this look good?"
 
Zac had completely forgotten that he wasn't in New Zealand, the holiday a week ago confused him. "Oh right! I knew that!" He smirked as he placed a hand on Veronica's head and start messing her hair. If that was his sisters, they would probably start arguing about that bu he knew his this blond hair was different. The weather was starting to get colder as he could see the wind blowing outside. He pulled the jacket of his closer to him and took out his gloves and start wearing them.

Zac walk toward Veronica seeing the jacket "You sure this will keep you warm?" He rose his eyebrow. Zac was never a big fan of a leather biker jacket but he didn't mind buying it for someone else. "Come on, let's go pay it" He brought the jacket to the counter and took off the tag and placed it on Veronica's head instead of shoulder so it was covering her eyes, and laughed.

Winter was crazy there, and he wasn't a big fan of it. Spring and autumn were his favorites, not too cold and not too warm, Perfect! "I wish it's summer so that I can go home" He let out a small chuckle. He missed his family and wanted to spend time with them for a while. He hadn't been doing those a lot lately and he was disappointed.
 
Veronica laughed trying to block Zac's long arms from reaching her hair but as she had expected he suceeded in messing up her hair.With a slight tap of her wand on her hair she put her hair properly again and pulled out her tongue at him. "Yeah, I'm sure it will keep me warm" she said as they walked towards the counter to pay. Veronica pulled out some galleons from her purse and paid for the jacket, this was obstructed slightly by finding her jacket on her head covering her eyes. "Never knew you liked me wearing my jacket that way" she joked with Zac as she put on her own jacket and zipping it up she walked out of the store into the cool winter air.

"You've just come back from holidays, learn to tolerate me for next six months" she told him with a grin. It was cold and Veronica liked it just this way because her whole childhood had been spent in such winters and she loved it. "Lets go grab some butterbeer" she said as she lead the way to the restaurant. "Too much about me...don't tell me you didn't find yourself a girl. I'm sure many girls are smitten over the cute boy" she said wondering if Zac had found a girlfriend.
