Once upon an old daydream

It was getting very near time for her birthday and as of late her family had been sending Lola parcel upon parcel. Kat had sent her several albums on vinyl that she'd found in a record store in London and Serena had sent her several pieces of vintage jewelry she'd found at a local thrift shop. Lola loved the gifts from her cousins as well as the ones that her aunt and uncle had sent her. The brunette knew that her parents would wait until she was home next to give her their gift so she had pretty much received all the gifts from everyone she'd expected to. Lola had just finished sending off 'Thank you' replies to everyone when she saw a very familiar owl flying towards the tower. A grin broke out across her face as she just stayed and waited to see exactly what kind of news it would bring her.

It was Valentine’s Day today and for once Daniel actually had someone in mind. As of right now he didn’t know where he and Lola stood. Christmas had been amazing, he had spent the day with her family and they were all so nice, but mostly he got to spend the day with her, the whole day – and it was amazing. They kissed again – a few times, even held hands but he still didn’t know what any of that meant. By now he had gotten over his stupid-headness and realised that he liked her – a lot, it was kind of hard to not see it. Despite her kissing him first he was still unsure if Lola truly felt the same about him. He didn’t know if his subconscious had told him to wait until today to do something about it or if it was just a weird coincidence but he went with it. Sure he didn’t want to ruin their friendship but he knew that he had to know. That morning he had his mother bake him off a batch of her brownies that he knew Lola loved. With some pink frosting he wrote on top of each one, all of them having a different letter spelling out BE MINE . As he put them into a box for his owl to deliver to Lola he knew it would be too easy to leave them smelt out properly so he mixed them up until it made no real sense. Closing over the box he left the note with it, attaching them to his owl he set it off to Hogwarts. All he could now was wait.

As the owl arrived for her she took the package before giving the owl a treat and sending it back on it's way. Reading the note first, Lola was a bit confused as to exactly what it meant. Sitting on the ground she opened the package. The brunette inhaled deeply...brownies. Only these had letters done up in pink frosting. A puzzle...I like puzzles she thought with a grin. The Ravenclaw began to arrange the letters several different ways, first coming up with NEEBIM which made no sense to her as she didn't know of anything muggle or magical with that name. After about four or five minutes she had come up with several different combination of words the next to last being BEEMIN. With a puzzled look upon her face she moved one E to the end of the line up to where it spelled out BE MINE. "Aha, I got it. He'll have to work harder next time if he wants to try and trip me up with a spelling..." Then the realization of what it had actually spelled out hit her and she remembered what day it was. Lola's stomach began to flutter as if filled with butterflies. He wanted her to be his. Thanking Merlin that no one was around to hear her she squealed loudly and clapped her hands, feeling extremely giddy. Lola of course had her answer ready for him, but she would wait until they met again in Brightstone to give it to him. Valentine's day had never held much meaning or thrill for the soon to be seventeen year old, but now she could honestly say she'd been hit by cupid's arrow.
