Sofia loved the days where all the groups got together to explore a shared topic. Right before the holidays, she had decided to transform their outside play area into a “winter wonderland” with fake snow. The snow wasn’t cold; but it had a similar texture and was still safe to eat in case any of the younger daycare attendees had the same idea as her granddaughter. There was a place for them to sled down small hills with the help of their teachers in brightly colored sleds in place of the slide. There were premade forts (and areas for more to be built by the students) so snowball fights could ensue for the older students to wear off some energy. Around the same place where lots of items like scarves, hats, and carrot noses to help decorate any snow people they’d like to build. There was a small area to practice ice skating with devices to assist those less confidence on ice. And lastly, a small, driverless, child size train ride was roaming around the entire area, complete with some cookies and hot cocoa or cool milk once they took a seat.

She hoped it would be enough to keep the kids occupied for the afternoon and wear them out. She knew some kids had never been even seen this much “snow” and that some may hate the whole thing, but she had remembered going on vacation to winter locations with her family and how much fun it was to get out of the traditional world. She smiled at some of her teachers as the kids started to play, keeping an eye out for any shenanigans.

Margot was excited to be outside today and ran straight for the train with her dolls in each hand, taking a seat as 1 chocolate chip cookie and a glass of milk appeared on the tray table in front of her. She frowned, as that meant Ms. Rainbow Rosie did not have a cookie, too. She sat Ms. Rainbow Rosie on the bench beside her, fixing the yarn strands of her hair out of her face and then placed her other nameless doll on the table. Margot split the cookie in half and held some up for Ms. Rainbow Rosie. “Mmm, isn’t that good?” she said, before taking a bite herself.

Even though Livvy was most definitely a follower as opposed to a leader, she more often than not felt as though she was left on her own which meant she had no one to follow. She was stood at the top of the snowy sledge hill, hands tucked into her mittens at clasped together in front of her as she looked around to see what the other students were doing. Everyone seemed to be having fun playing with various toys, but Livvy wasn't sure how she was supposed to? She looked around nervously, unsure of what she was meant to do now that she was here.
