It was the first day of the semester at the new school. Lumos had told Eden all about his first day of school last year, so she was very glad now that she got to see the school too. It was strange though, Lumos had forgotten to tell her the castle was covered in multicoloured drawings. Eden tried to remember what Nox had told her too although he hadn't said too much. Her other older brother didn't talk to her as much as Lumos did. "My brother said that there is a greatest hall here," she announced to the nearest girl she could see.

Aelin was busy peeling the skin off of her piece of clementine when a girl near her announced something. "Greatest hall? What is that? And why is it called Greatest? Unless it has a floating ceiling and sinking floor I think it's ordinary." She said confidently to her, it couldn't be all that great. Her father was working at a school and he spoke about a hall think he too said great but she couldn't truly remember. She had been too busy making sure he didn't see the ruined shirt he had set on the back of the chair, that now was full of dark spots from the drink of her dad's that she had gone and spilled.

Eden didn't really know how Lumos and her other siblings were meant to walk around on a floor that was sinking, but they must have done it somehow. Lumos was clever and would have found a way. "That's ok. Are you a muggle?" Eden asked the girl, glancing down at the orange fruit in her hands and wondering if that was why she seemed confused. Muggles didn't know things about Hogwarts. Lumos had said so.

Aelin frowned, muggle? No her mom had been well she didn't really know and dad was well he was a wizard even teached at a wizarding school. "No, I don't think so? My mom I never met her but she wasn't, dad isn't he teaches at a magic school.... about muggles.... His mom was a muggle, but I am not. Am I? Do I look like I am? Can you tell my if I have magic? Are your eyes special?" Oh that was confusing, was she a muggle? What if she was would dad abandon her? No he wouldn't right, but how would that work.

Eden blinked at the other girl a little bit lost, although she did her best to think about what Lumos would do or say right now. "I've met my mom. She has special eyes. My daddy teaches at a magic school too," she smiled confidently, hoping that that answered those questions. "Is your daddy here too?" she asked, looking back to the building in front of them. "My daddy is in here."

Aelin abandoned her fruit, what? She had met her mum? "How... how did you meet your mum?" Her tone was equal parts confused and curious, maybe she could do what this girl had done. "My dad? Is he? Did you see him? I don't know..." Was her father here? Why wasn't he with her if he was, rude she'd spill more brown liquid on his shirt. "We can go ask your daddy if my daddy is here?" That seemed like a great idea.

How did Eden meet her mom? She got to meet her every day! "She's mostly at home," the blonde smiled. "She goes to work and then she comes home again," she nodded her head. "Who is your daddy?" Eden added, not knowing which teachers were in the school except her own daddy, although she could probably ask him where the girl's daddy was too. Daddy was good at finding people. "Yes my daddy can show you, we can go and find him!" Eden took the girl's hand now that it was orange-less, tugging her towards the building.

Her mom was at home? Where was Aelins? She'd have to ask dad about that. "Oh..." she said deep in thought. "My daddy? Oh his name is well I hear my aunt call him Killian at times, but I just call him dad or da! Daddy sometimes too but only when I am annoyed." Aelins eyes sparked with joy when thinking about her superhero, he was the best dad ever. "Okay, because if my daddy is here too I want to give him a hug and ask if we can get a mom at home too." She said eagerly following the blonde.

"Okay we can ask daddy where Killan is," Eden smiled widely, pushing open the door with her free hand. She hadn't been in here before so she didn't really know where she was going, but Lumos had already told her it was a big school to find her way around so it would take her time to learn, and that was okay. "What is your name?" Eden asked Miss Killan. Eden knew that her mommy would like the girl, she liked most of her brother and sisters friends which meant that this girl would be liked by her too.

Aelin smiled following the girl who seemed to know where to go. "My name is Aelin, I don't know why but it's always been that." Her dad was daddy because he was her dad but she didn't know why she was Aelin, she just always had been. "What is yours?" Aelin returned the question.

Eden thought about what Aelin said for a moment, "That means your mommy is called Aelin too. That will be easier for us to find her!" Eden was doing her very best to be supportive, even if she knew she would have to rely on her own mommy and daddy to help Aelin find her mom. As they walked into the school, nothing in here was like Lumos had said it would be, although there was a big hall with tables in it. That must be the greatest hall. "Which one is yours?" she asked, her blue eyes glancing around at the men standing in the room.

Was that so? Was her mom named Aelin, maybe she was, she'd ask Da he would know. "Okay!" She agreed, sure this girl would know. Aelin looked at the men in the room? Which one was hers, she squinted looking for the drawings on her daddy's skin or the glasses, she didn't see him. "None of them are mine? Is my daddy not here then?" Her voice grew sadder at the thought, she missed dad.

This would be the very last year that Livvy would have before she moved up to Class 2. Right now though, she was one of the oldest girls in the class, which was a very important role. Of course Nessie and Ellen were with her too so she would never be the oldest girl ever, but it was still a pretty good difference. She was sitting at the back of the assembly hall, where some of the baby children were starting to gather around when she saw two other girls come hand in hand and start scouring the room for a daddy. Livvy's own daddy was at home, although for some reason these girls thought theirs was here. Maybe they were sisters too. "Are you lost?" Livvy stood up, calling out to the girls. She was an older girl now and older girls looked out for younger girls. At least she thought that's what her older sister said.

Eden completely forgot that Aelin had asked what her name was, now she was much too focused on the new task at hand. She looked around the room and frowned, confusion across her face. "My daddy isn't here either.." Had Lumos lied to her? Another girl came up to them and the blonde turned her head, "No." They weren't. She knew exactly where they were. "We're at Hogwarts."

With a frown on her face the brunette turned her head to the new girl. "We are at school, are our dad's here? They are teachers." She added to the blonde's explanation of how they were at Hogwarts, whatever that was it sounded familiar though so probably yes. "What was your name? If you tell her your name she can help find your dad! My name is Aelin Fox like the orange animal." Aelin supplied proudly.

Livvy listened to the girls tell her their story, and blinked when one of them told her they were at Hogwarts. Hogwarts was where Eluned was, and Liv was pretty sure her sister wasn't in this school with them. The girls had told her that this was Hogwarts though, so maybe Livvy hadn't realised she was just in a different part of the building to her. "Oh," maybe she could have seen Eluned more often then. "My name is Olive," she smiled at the small girls, "A lot of people shout Livvy or Liv though when they call for me."

"My name is Eden. Aderler. Cake." Eden did her very best to pronounce each word very carefully, making sure she got the right pronunciation. "My daddy is James Cake?" She couldn't see him around the room but maybe the girl knew where he was. Aelin's name was cuter than hers; Fox. Although not everyone could say they were named after something as tasty as cake, either.

Aelin eyed the older girl Olive her name was, interesting she hated olives. They were bitter, and the oil was worse, but it was good for sliding on the floor. Though her dad didn't like when she did that, said it was dangerous. "Cake? I like cake. You have a lot of names." Three was a lot she only had two, well she had the one in between the two but she didn't use it a lot, maybe she should? The blonde had a nice name though.

Livvy looked at Aelin when she said that Eden had a lot of names. "That's not as long as mine - Mine is Olive Sherise Layton-Strangewayes," honestly Livvy was proud of herself for remembering it correctly, and her sister's names too. "Why is your name so small?" she asked Aelin, getting sidetracked from her original plan of helping the girls.

"You like cake, and I like foxes. Maybe we should switch sometimes?" Honestly, Eden Fox sounded like a nice name, so did Aelin Cake. That sounded like a type of birthday cake for sure.

Aelin frowned at Olive's name it was so long and now she was asking why Aelin's was so small. "Well my full name is Aelin Irene Fox," still not quite as long. Was there something wrong with hers then. "Oh! That's good then we can be friends, if you like foxes and I cake! Maybe your mom can be mine too so it can be easier to swizz!" Oh that was a great idea, they had a good plan now.

"I didn't know you could borrow a different mom," Livvy thought out loud. Her own mom was a little bit strict but at least her dad would play lots of games with them to make up for it. She didn't know if she'd want anyone to have her mom though. "I don't think there is anyone called Mr Cake here," Livvy added, thinking about all the names of the men in the room. "Or a Mr Fox."

"If my mom has another sister, she should call her Aelin." Eden had a lot of sisters, so her mom and dad were probably running out of names by now. "Yes! We can be friends though," she was glad that there was at least one person in this Hogwarts school that she could tell Lumos about. She would have to write to her brother and let him know. Once she knew how to write.

Aelin looked at both the girls, she hadn't thought it before but after today she was sure one could borrow another's mom. "Your mom has a lot of sisters? Does she name them all?" She had no idea how sisters worked, or brothers or mom's only that she had dad and dad was all she needed, sometimes aunt Hope would be around but not since Grandma Irene and Hope had yelled about big girl things. "So my daddy isn't here? Do you think he left me? Do I now have no dad either......" Well today was horrid, at least she gained a friend who had also lost her daddy now, maybe they could become each others dads, but a dad was a boy.

Livvy shrugged, "If he's a teacher at Hogwarts, maybe he's at the other bit," the bit where Eluned was, wherever that ended up being. "Or he's at home. My dad went to Hogwarts too when he was a child, but he's at home now instead," so did her mom, but Livvy didn't want to rub it in that both of her parents were together and exactly where she thought they were.
