Closed Not So Scary

June hadn't entirely meant to get this close to the forest. But she had been walking around the school grounds to get her bearings when the shadows suddenly got longer and she realized where exactly she was. She had lost count how many times she and all her other classmates had been warned away from those looming trees, but she had a hard time believing there was anything sinister out there at all. Still, her first instinct was to turn around and run in the other direction, but there was a compelling sense of curiosity that kept her feet right where they were. She also hated the thought of anyone seeing her run away like a scared little kid. She was braver than that. A moment later a breeze rustled the leaves and made her shiver. Maybe she could leave this adventure for a warmer day?
