Open Not Completely Alone

Caleb wasn't talking to Louis and he was trying to keep it that way. He had stuck to Slytherin only spaces for the first few days back at the castle. But in his attempt to keep his distance he realized he hadn't spoken to Rene either. He was starting to realize that his social circle was a bit smaller than he realized. He still didn't want to see Louis but he was also tired of hiding from him. and it wasn't like he was totally alone. He brought Peach with him to the student lounge and took up residence at one of the tables and pretended to study. But in reality he set up a maze for his pet rat to try and solve using pieces of parchment and bottles of ink and even a textbook laid face down to make a tunnel of sorts. On some level he knew he should actually try and study since Lila wasn't around to remind him to get the most basic of grades, but this was much more enjoyable.

Enzo had been rather enjoying his Muggle Studies assignments. So much so that he was reading more books on his own, specifically muggle "how-to" books. And while arts and crafts weren't necessarily only for muggles, there were a lot of things in the book he was looking through that he'd never seen before. Although, that could just be from his upbringing. Taking a break from studying, he had found himself in the lounge again reading. It was quiet enough most of the time but still allowed him to people watch. And today, there was quite the person to watch. He recognized the older boy from his house but didn't really know his name. However, he was making a mess of his table, and Enzo was intrigued. "Are you doing an art project?" he asked curiously from his seat.

Caleb looked up with a bored expression. He didn't appreciate being interrupted in the middle of his very important work but he recognized a boy from his house and grinned. "Something like that." he said smugly and picked up Peach from where she had burrowed himself against his neck. She liked when his hair was long enough to hid in. "Want to see something cool?" he offered. His work shouldn't go to waste just because his friends were off being dumb and too busy for him.

Enzo was surprised to see Caleb pull out a rat. Pets had been something of an adjustment coming to Hogwarts, as there was a very clear "no animal" policy in their house growing up. However, almost everyone seemed to have a pet in some capacity, whether official or not, and rats fell into that category. "Uh, sure," he said reluctantly to the older boy, unsure what was about to happen.
