It was probably a good thing that Corey's mum was the Tengu Coach because he'd just decided to take more than two weeks off to enjoy Valentine's Day with Roxas. Sure, the two of them had just had their honeymoon recently, but surely the whole first year of marriage counts as honeymoon time, right? Even so, when he started planning for Valentine's Day, the only request Roxas had made of him was please don't cook, to which Corey had looked at him weirdly but agreed to the condition nonetheless. In turn, he told his husband - Merlin, he was never, and he meant never, going to get used to that - to pack for two weeks away. And to pack for a bit of cold winter, even though warming charms were a wizard's best friend. And now, it was finally February and they were all packed and ready to go. Taking his husband's - inner squeal - hand, he apparated both of them to Hakone, Japan.

Corey wasn't really one for planning, but he'd wanted their first Valentine's as a married couple to be just them. And somewhere Roxas could relax. And what was more relaxing than an area known for its hot springs. He'd made a reservation at one of the more expensive ryokans around, one that had its own open-air bath, sauna, and shower. Plus, it had its own living room and the option between Western beds and futons. He'd also looked at what they could do around the area, and there seemed to be a festival happening tonight if Roxas wanted to see that. And there were countless sights too, he'd heard there was an upside-down view of Mt. Fuji somewhere here. They had a whole two weeks to themselves. "Well?" he asked his husband as soon as they were finally settled into the room. "No cooking for two weeks," he said as he gestured to the room that had no kitchen, but had its own private garden and wooden terrace
.

Taking time off in his line of work was fairly simple, it was a sport, not a job really, so all he had to do was round up sponsorships so that winning actually meant something, but it also meant he had to be nimble, agile, which worked out well because so did Corey, which meant they took to training a lot together, which Roxas credits for the reason they were so close even before getting engaged and later married. This, sort of, was their honeymoon. Or an extension of it anyway, since they’d done the honeymoon thing. They’d gotten married last year, but having some time away to themselves where no one knew where they were was nice, because, as the Tengu Coach, Corey’s mother had a bad habit of dropping in on them unannounced, even when they were on holiday. He hoped Corey had remembered to not tell his mother where they were for the next two weeks.

“Ah, what a relief,” Roxas commented when Corey mentioned there would be no cooking. Look, it wasn’t a bad thing that Corey cooked, it was just… well, he didn’t want to get into that right now. “I like the view, it’s a beautiful drop off the mountain,” he said, wrapping his arms around Corey and pressing a kiss to the side of his head. “Do you have an itinerary, things to do around?” He also wondered what they would do for food, since there would be no cooking. “Do they have a restaurant or something?”

Corey grinned all too happily when his husband said that he liked what Corey had found, which was awesome because he had spent way too much time than he was willing to admit to finding this place. It was silly because Hakone wasn't even too far away from Tokyo. And that was also the beauty of it. His Kaa-chan would never think that he would have stayed this close on a holiday that he didn't mention beforehand. Which meant that it was unlikely that his Kaa-chan would find them and disturb the two weeks he had with his husband. He leaned into Roxas' arms just enjoying the feeling of having him around and the tiny kiss that he got in affection. "Mmm, there's a pamphlet in the bag I think from when I checked us in earlier," he mumbled happily. "And the room comes with breakfast. I heard they have excellent room service too, and I think the restaurant is off at the main building," he gestured to the general direction of where it should be.

Roxas hummed, content, chin resting lightly against Corey’s shoulder as he listened to what he was saying. He was surprised at the choice, it was good - not to say that Corey had bad judgment or anything, but sometimes he wondered if Corey enjoyed how often they were interrupted just daily by some shenanigan or other from his family - Roxas of course had moved away from his famliy as fast as was humanly possible the moment he’d graduated, which was evidently how he’d ended up in Japan in the first place honestly. This place would be hard for Taylor to track them down, she’d have to reall look, and he doubted she would have thought to look somewhere so close. They were also still close enough to get back quickly should they need to, but he didn’t think there would be any problems there honestly. “Good thinking,” he said, approval in his tone. He squeezed his husband into a tight hug. “Two whole weeks without unexpected visits? I’m ecstatic and impressed.”

He loosened his arms just enough to reach down to Corey’s hand, turning him slightly to face each other. “Breakfast in the room sounds perfect. And we can check out the restaurant later—after we’ve properly settled in.” he smirked then, looking Corey up and down quickly. “Unless you have a surprise dinner planned too?” he honestly wouldn’t have put it past him, Corey was actually a very good planner when he set his mind to it, it was getting him focused on stuff that was the problem. Roxas sometimes joked he got hit with too many bludgers, as the Seeker, he was usually the first one they tried to take out in any game, but luckily his sister Yuki and his brother Ru were better than decent in terms of Beaters, they trusted each other implicitly and watching them on the pitch was like watching them dance.

“Either way, I want to see this pamphlet. What kind of activities are we talking about here? Hiking? Sightseeing? Or are we just going to be soaking in the onsen for two weeks?” He wouldn’t complain if that was the plan, honestly.
