Going to Beauxbatons had been the smart decision to make when his parents had gotten better opportunities in the country that the school was situated in. This didn't however really help the fact that he didn't speak much french and he didn't know much about the country or this palace, and he was pretty nervous although he was still a little bit excited by it. He was excited about what new doors this might open, and hopefully he would make as many friends here as he had made at his last school. The boy stood nervous at the hall of the castle, a little sigh as he glanced about the room, it was a beautiful place, and he just wanted to be able to do well in this school. The young boy had his french book in his pocket and the boy was just trying to find a spot where he could fit easily, where he could talk to people, where he might fit in with the conversations, but they were flying around so rapidly in french, and Jamie felt so utterly lost. God, if he didn't love his parents he would've be super annoyed. Eventually he just sat himself down at the table, just any table and sighed a little, he loved adventure but perhaps this was too much.

Since Meena had beg to asked for her birman cat to come along with her at school, she had been cheerful and energetic. She had a few friends but a pet seems therapeutic for her. It was an intense four years of her life since her middle sister was diagnosed of cancer to the brain. It was the reason why her schooling in Hogwarts New Zealand was cut short and instead, she was enrolled in Beauxbatons. It was more suitable to her and her family being near to each other. "Come on, Danny! We'll go for a walk around and I'll give you treats later." She said to her cat in German while they walk around the palace grounds. Meena barely spoke English here in Beauxbatons, growing up in Switzerland, she can speak the official languages of the country. A mix of French, German, and Italian. She called out to her cat again who was slow and sniffing around. "You spoiled cat." Meena jokingly said and picked up the fluffy cat. The girl then noticed someone just sitting alone. It was odd for her to see someone alone in this school when there are too much activities Beauxbatons offers. She decided to approached the boy, "Bonjour. Je suis désolé d'être intrigué, mais y at-il quelque chose de mal? (Hello. I'm sorry for being nosy but is there something wrong?)" Meena had no idea whether she was talking to some one French or English because mainly the students here are French. Danny purred from her hug and she smiled at the fur ball and continued to scratch his chin.

As Jamie sat at the table, glancing around himself and just looking a little overwhelmed by what he was seeing before him, and the languages being spoken around him. It was more than a little overwhelming and despite how much he wanted to get excited about this new school, there was just a lot he was up against in this place, he didn't know how much help he would get with the language, he didn't know how different the spells would be. The boy was just feeling a little bit sorry for himself in that moment, trying to get himself actively interested and excited was hard currently. It was his first day, and he was a little up against it. The boy looked up suddenly when a girl spoke to him, in what could only be described as exceedingly fast something, he looked completely bewildered and was pleased when she stopped. Jamie took a deep breath and then smiled easily at her, putting his best friendly face on, "Hi," he said in english, "My Francais not bien," he was able to say, it was broken french, with a heavy kiwi accent on his words, but he just kept trying to appear friendly, and kept smiling, hoping the girl either knew english or wouldn't push too hard on him, he wouldn't mind if she left but he wanted to make a friend. Having no friends in a new school wasn't ideal, but he was definitely going to struggle, if this was anything to go by he would struggle.

A big O formed her lips when the guy's french wasn't that good, it has a hint of English in it. It was a miracle because Meena was tried of talking in french sometimes and sometimes she thinks the school should have a subject just for that type. "Oh, my good man ..." She trailed off patting the boy in the back. She was awfully getting close and she hates the fact that Danny, her cat, was getting jealous. She put back her hands on Danny's chin, scratching it. "I'm sorry, it's just that you're the first person I've met here that speaks English and doesn't have a french accent when doing so." Meena informed the boy. But then her cat started to wiggle off her grip and just let him chase a poor bird looking for food. "I hope you like cats. Danny walks around alone sometimes and the Professors just let him be." Her gaze still upon her cat, she took a sit across from the boy. "I'm Meena from Switzerland and no, I don't like swiss cheese." She sweetly smiled and turned her head around with her body to face him. It was odd that Meena had to add that last bit but for the boy's short entertainment, a joke sounds appealing. It was asked by many and she's tired of hearing it. "Bad case of bathroom break if I eat cheese." The girl giggled, trying to muffle it with one hand on her mouth.

The boy couldn't help the excitement that crossed on to his face when the girl started speaking english, he couldn't believe that he'd run into someone who was speaking english, it was the most incredible thing. He couldn't believe it, he was so happy that he'd managed to find someone who spoke english. The boy was then a little disheartened when this girl told him there weren't many people who spoke english, "Really?" he rubbed his face with his hand in a moment of desperation, he was happy to be here, he was happy to be with his parents, supporting them as they moved to a new country, he was happy to be at this school, but he was going to really struggle with the language. This girl was from Switzerland, but apparently couldn't eat cheese, which he didn't really need to know. Jamie smiled at her, happy that she was talking to him and he felt good about that, someone he could actually speak to, maybe she would even be interested in spending time with him. At the very least Jamie would introduce himself "I'm Jamie, from New Zealand, I like cheese and I can eat it" the boy told her in reply with a small amount of excitement, "I'm new, just transferred in, and my french is poor," he explained to her, "I'm trying but it's hard!"
