Trilby wandered from the charms class placing her bag over her shoulder and wrapping her cardigan about her. The school itself felt warm inside but she knew that next class she would have to walk across the gardens to the hebology greenhouses which meant out into the snow. Glancing out the window now she saw it still coming down in a blizzard and rolled her eyes. Usually she loved this weather but right now she could care less. She had kept to herself pretty much since she returned to school from the vacation, her usual easy going smile seemed more sedate than usual.

She had not met with Carlisle over the holidays as she had hoped and could now only think that he was well and truly gone from her life. This left her feeling bereft as if she had truly lost someone and the need to grief for this loss seemed only seconds away but she never gave in to it. Felt herself weak if she did. As it was she had met a boy by chance who had somewhat rescued her from the mental crowds barging their way every which way but she had left without seeking to meet him again. She could not be bothered truthfully. Trilby was completely disillusioned now when it came to the male species. As she took a step down the stairs she got jostled by a younger student rushing up and her books went flying from her hands and down the stairs.

With a sigh and not bothering to reprimand the younger student who did stop to apologize and offer some help, she had merely shaken her head. That wouldn't be necessary, she could manage. Slowly she picked up her books as if stalling for time.

Sebastian stepped out of his room with his coat in hand. He didn't want to put it on just yet as the school was rather hot to him, but outside the snow was falling hard. For the past several weeks, the snow had been falling heavily and it reminded Sebastian of home, his old home anyway. The blizzard-like conditions was one of the only things that he missed about Massachusetts.

The young boy was finding it very easy to adjust to his new home in France. His grandmother had made his holiday a pleasant one, one of the best he had had since his mother had died. She had cooked a huge meal, bought him the coat he was now holding and even consented to him getting the piercing that was now on his eyebrow. He had even returned to Beauxbatons with a smile, knowing that he would be returning to a friend. Trilby was quickly becoming Sebastian's best friend.

Sebastian rounded the corner just in time to see Trilby get banged into by a younger student and her books go flying all over the place. Why does she have so many books already? Sebastian wondered and then realized who he was thinking of. Of course it made sense for Trilby to have so many books. She was the type to jump right into the semester. Sebastian made his way over towards Trilby and picked up one of her books. "A sickle for your thoughts..." Sebastian said in a low voice to Trilby and held the book out to her because she appeared distracted.

As she picked up her books by hand something she knew she could have accomplished in seconds if she had used her wand Trilby heard a familiar voice. Looking up she smiled at him before taking the book from his outstretched hand.
"Thank you Sebastian" her French accent seemed so much thicker than before but this was always the way when she was not at the school and had to spend her time around her fellow country men.
"They are not worthy of your sickle" she smiled though the smile seemed genuine and utterly sweet it never quite reached her eyes, "Are you heading to herbology as well?" she asked hoping that he would not push the matter of her distraction.

Sebastian returned Trilby’s smile and looked at her quizzically as she said her thoughts weren’t worth his sickle. He figured her day hadn’t been going so well, considering that he had come upon her with her books scattered all over the place.

When she asked whether he was heading to herbology as well, Sebastian held up his coat in response and then put it on. “Yea...if I don't get buried in all this snow before I get there. How was your break? I couldn’t believe it but Gran actually let me get the piercing…you like?” he asked raising and lowering his left eyebrow, a smile on his face as he eagerly showed off his new silver. Something seemed odd about Trilby, but Sebastian figured she would talk if she wanted to.

Smiling as her best friend, for that was what she considered him now to be, as he held up his coat she wished she herself had been so clever. Picturing her coat, scarf, hat and gloves in her room safe and warm made her roll her eyes. She seriously wasn't thinking straight at all these days and would have to come back to reality soon or she would not fare well in her exams at the end of the year.

"It was... good" she kept it simple though she was dying to shake this sullen mood she had allowed herself to fall into, "I like it, your piercing. It is most becoming".
She gave him her brightest smile then though it benefited her little, her usually sallow skin seemed much paler due to lack of exposure.

"So your vacation was good I take it?"

"Thanks" Sebastian replied with a smile before nodding. "Yea, I never my Gran was such an excellent cook" he said remembering all that he had eaten. Quiet for a moment, Sebastian said in a lower voice, "I told my Gran about you...you know being my friend and all." He rolled his eyes and continued, "She wants to meet you one of these days. I think she doubted I'd make any friends here being an American and all." It had taken quite a bit of convincing for his grandmother to finally believe that Trilby was just a friend and not his girlfriend. His grandmother didn't believe that a guy and girl could just be friends.

As Sebastian opened the door so they could leave the castle, he felt the cold from outside. Turning toward Trilby, he realized she didn't have a coat in her hand. "Tril...you're not planning to go outside in that, right?" he asked and then held out his coat. "It'll be big but wear it. I insist" he said, practically pushing his jacket into her arms. Sebastian was wearing his Beauxbaton sweater and had his scarf already around his neck, so he figured he'd be fine.

She felt flattered that he had told his grandmother about her, Trilby had tried to speak with her father a few times but normal conversation alluded him and the near mention of a boys name would have sent him off on a tirade of how dangerous they were. So she had kept all conversations they did have to house chores and school work. She had not even attempted to bring up the topic of decorating the house for the holidays, so no tinsel no tree, nothing was either mentioned or put up.

Turning to look at him she felt her mood lift from just a few minutes in his company, she was coming to depend on her bestfriend alot for that of late.
"I would like to meet her too someday, if that does not wierd you out" she chuckled as Sebastian walked in front and opened the door. The near blizzard outside whipped about them and almost immediately her teeth chattered against the cold. She didn't have time anymore to go back to her dorm for her coat and the thought of being late for a class was unimaginable to her but Sebastian held his coat out instead to her. Almost shoving it to her so she could not refuse but there was no way she was taking it and letting him suffer. She had a warm enough cardigan on so that might help but not by much.

Taking out her wand she cast the engorgio spell on his coat and watched as it grew twice its normal size.
"Don't worry it will return to normal when I reverse the spell but now we can share it" she smiled as she put her right hand into one sleeve and held the long back of the jacket out to Sebastian, expecting him to put his left arm into the other sleeve. True they would look funny but they would be warm.

Sebastian shrugged. "Yea, I guess. If you really want to" he said nonchalantly. Sebastian had never been allowed to invite friend's home for the summer when he had gone to Salem because his mother's friend and her boyfriend would not allow it. In order to see his friends, he would have to go over to their houses where magic was more accepted since most of them had at least one magical parent living in the house. Now that he lived with his grandmother, things would be different.

When Trilby did not take his coat, Sebastian sighed. But then, she took out her wand and put a spell on it, causing it to grow so that they could both fit in. With one arm in the coat, Trilby looked absolutely ridiculous and Sebastian chuckled as he placed his left arm inside the sleeve. "You. Are. A. Genius." he said, glad that she was smart enough to come up with a way to keep them both warm. "Have I told you that before?" he asked as he placed his arm around her waist. He had nowhere else to put his hand and figured their body heat and the coat would help them on their way to the greenhouse.

Stepping outside, the snow was falling steadily and the wind was racing around them. It reminded him of the Massachusetts winters. He began in the direction of the greenhouse. "Which greenhouse are we in?" he asked, noticing in the distance through the blanket of snow that there was more than one. He prayed that theirs was the one closest to the castle.

Trilby could not help but blush at his compliment of her, turning to smile at him she shook her head slowly.
"No actually Sebastian, you have not told me. I think you should most ..more often" she chuckled lightly, gasping slightly as his hand went about her waist. Tentatively she put her own about his, it did make more sense for them to walk this way to brace themselves against the snow and to stay warm. As they walked in the direction of the greenhouse she was glad of this extra warmth and folded her side of the jacket in around them as much as she could. Huddled up close beside him trying to keep in tempo with his steps was not easy especially in the biting wind and treacherous snow.

"We are not so fortunate, it is the second last one to the right" the one of course closest to the trees and with a dirt path instead of a gravel one leading up to it. The entire ground now was a beautiful layer of snow and it felt almost sinful to walk across it. Gingerly she touched her nose which always seemed to catch the cold before any other part of her body. Conscious of it she kept her hand over it for a moment before finally removing it before her hand froze from exposure.
"I always look like that red nosed reindeer in the cold. If we ever got lost people would find us because this would light the way" she said light heartily indicating the rosey hue of her nose.

“I’ll make a note of it Tril” Sebastian joked as they began to walk, his breath fogging in front of him as he chuckled.

Sebastian sighed as Trilby told him that the greenhouse they were heading for was nearly the last one. “Of course” he muttered as he continued to walk. Already his cheeks and ears were freezing and he could only imagine how red they might be. This weather was rivaling the Massachusetts winters, which surprised Sebastian a lot.

When Trilby began to talk about looking like a reindeer, Sebastian glanced at her. It was true. Her nose was really bright red and he chuckled, noting how perfect her description was. “Rudolph? He was always my favorite reindeer” Sebastian joked as they continued walking. Finally, they reached the doors to the greenhouse and Sebastian reached out to open it for them. The warmth of the greenhouse washed over him.

She laughed too as he mentioned Rudolph being his favorite. The cold obviously hastened their steps and soon they were at the door of the greenhouse. She thanked him as she walked through the door he held and to make it easier she slid out of the oversized coat to step into the warmth of the heated greenhouse. To her astonishment the place was empty save the plants and work tools. Frowning she turned back to Sebastian as she cast 'finite' on the jacket to return it to normal.
"Did we miss the memo or are we much too late?" she knew their timing was perfect though she seriously couldn't understand what had happened. She had the right greenhouse as well, Trilby never got it wrong. Moving further into the greenhouse she rubbed her hands together as they began to prick slightly from the heat touching their infinite coldness.
Glancing back to the door she was loathe to go outside in the bitter driving snow but knew at some point they would have to again.

"Sebastian?" she turned to look at him, her face all flushed from the cold made her look more vulnerable than usual but seemed to enhance her features as well.
"Should we head back or try the other greenhouses?"

Stepping inside behind Trilby, Sebastian half expected to see eyes facing him and sniggering as the pair walked in. "You've got to be kidding me?!" he exclaimed as he realized that no one was inside. He hadn't seen any notes posted saying that class was canceled, but he also hadn't seen anyone either in front or behind them heading towards the greenhouses. Even though it was warm inside, Sebastian pulled out his wand and performed the bluebells flame charm which he placed in a nearby cup. He then placed his hands over it to try and get some warmth back into them.

When Trilby asked him whether they should try another greenhouse or head back, Sebastian shook his head. "Maybe it's not meant for us to go to class today...let's just warm up and then head back" he said, gesturing for Trilby to join him in front of the flames. Outside, the wind had picked up and was howling through the narrow crack made by the doorway. Even though it was warm in the greenhouse, the flames would warm them up faster for their return trip. Already, Sebastian's hands and ears were feeling back to normal.

With a smirk, he looked at Trilby and teased, "How does it feeling skipping class, Tril?" He had skipped plenty of times, though not so much since beginning at Beauxbatons. He was willing to bet that Trilby had never skipped before though.

She was glad that his reaction had been like her own, Trilby was aghast as to why there was no class. She pulled herself up onto the desk, crossing her legs at the ankle and swinging them back and forth gently as her hands gripped the edge of the desk on either side of her knees.
"Now look who is the clever one" she smiled as he conjured some bluebell flames to ward off the cold, though the temperature in the greenhouse was alot warmer than outside the bluebell flames were still required. Slipping down from the desk she went to stand alongside him to warm her hands over the flames as well.

Her hands were still very cold and almost looked as blue as her cardigan from the cold.
"I never get used to this weather. I think I was made for warmer climates" she smiled up at him as she held her hands beside his over the flames. His words caused her to pause. In stunned silence she frowned, then looking absolutely horrified she turned to face him.
"I am skipping class? But... but .." the thought was nearly dislodging her from reality, she had never missed a class in her life. Not for a cold, not for a bereavement, not for anything.
She had never even missed a day of school.

"Oh no" her eyes looked up to him as if she had just been made aware that she had committed a great wrong, "Will there be grave consequences?"
Trilby bit her lower lip in apprehension of his answer.

Sebastian watched the transformation in Trilby’s face from being cold to being stunned to looking horrified at the idea of missing a class. He bit back a laugh and had to place his hand over his face to stop himself from chuckling out loud. By the look on her face, Sebastian knew that Trilby had never skipped a class before.

Trying to keep a straight face, Sebastian contemplated teasing Trilby further, but then decided not to because she looked genuinely upset at the idea of skipping a class. “Oh. Trilby dear” he began with a small smile placing his hands on her shoulders, “we’re probably not skipping class. We must’ve just missed the memo about it being cancelled. It’s a shame really. I would have definitely preferred to stay in the warm, dry castle. Don’t worry…relax.” Sebastian was not worried at all about skipping class as it was something he had done every once in a while back at Salem. He didn’t know whether there were any consequences here at Beauxbatons, but he wasn’t that worried about it.

Turning back to the flames, Sebastian added "I doubt you'd get in trouble anyway. You're a prefect after all...you can just say you caught me doing something terrible." He shrugged his shoulders.

Sebastian's hands on her shoulders helped to quell the tidal wave of angst building inside her. His words stemmed the flow of apprehension considerably. She smiled at him, he had to be right. They obviously did miss the memo, but how did she of all people do that? It seriously was perplexing. His hands moved from her shoulders and Trilby glanced up at him, they were best friends and though there was significant contact between them, physical contact was usally a nudge here and there or some thing more like when they had been dancing. She could not explain the sudden pang that filled her when his hands moved.

She was so damn confused and had no one to talk too. No one but Sebastian of course but she didn't know if she could speak to him about any of this. Looking at him for a moment before looking away she decided to just go for it.

"I'm sure you're right Sebastian" she smiled glancing out the window of the greenhouse, her hands raised over the flame once more as she rubbed them together, "Relax?" it seemed infinitely easier said than done.

"Sebastian... do.. do you have much experience with girls? I mean... do you go out of your way to flirt with them?" she was trying to understand what had been going on with others her age, what had happened with Xavier and why her own relationship with Sebastian was not like any of that. Sometimes she was convinced there was something wrong with her, there had to be and if Sebastian admitted now to flirting with girls she would know it for sure because he never once had with her.

Sebastian was glad that he was able to reassure his friend. Smiling with content, he was not expecting the next words that came out of Trilby's mouth. He turned to her, his face going slightly red and he ran his hand nervously through his hair. Although he had certainly been confused about girls, Sebastian didn't really have anyone to talk to about it. He had no father nor did he have any brothers to talk to. And, even though Trilby was his best friend, Sebastian didn't know if he could talk to her about girls, considering that she was sometimes the source of his confusion. There was no doubt, in his mind anyway, that he and Trilby were best friends, but sometimes when their hands touched or she elbowed him, he would get a wierd feeling in his stomach.

Realizing he had been silent for a while, Sebastian opened his mouth to answer. "Uh...you want the truth?" he asked, honestly perplexed at her question. "I've...uh actually only ever kissed one girl" he admitted and then looked away, slightly embarassed. Other boys his age had dated tons of girls, but Sebastian didn't know how to go about asking a girl for a date. "I don't even know how to flirt" he added quietly, really going red.

He glanced at Trilby to see her reaction, wondering why she had even asked those questions. Is she trying to tell me something? he wondered. Still not looking at Trilby, Sebastian asked nervously "Why'd you ask?"

Trilby looked as shyly at him as she felt inside, this was a whole new territory of conversation for them and if they could get through it then they could very well be a font of major information for the other but some part of Trilby didn't want him just for information on the male psyche.

"Truth is always best" she smiled. His truth startled her but for some bizarre reason she found it made her happy, even more so that he admitted to not knowing how to flirt.

She knew a lot of the boys at the school over the years simply presumed that because she was French, she knew all about kissing and flirting and all the big romance stuff but she didn't. It was all a big mystery to her, a terrifying on at that.

"I have kissed only one boy as well but..." this was the difficult part, "another boy flirted with me. Outrageously so but he is very much known for this behavior and... and he kissed me. I slapped him of course for taking liberties but... I just don't understand why someone would do that. If a person likes someone surely it is better to tell them than to pounce on them instead" she looked at him with chocolate brown eyes, not sure if anything she was saying was making any sense at all.

"I like that I have you to talk with, I don't have any brothers and my father does not speak much. I do not have any sisters and my mother..." she paused, Trilby had never told her best friend about her mother. That was a whole different conversation and she only now had realized that she had not told him. It wasn't exactly something that you could blurt out after all, that her mother was locked up in a asylum.

An idea struck her and she smiled, her brain deduced things sometimes too matter of factly and she did not consider the implications or consequences relating to those around her who thought with their hearts and not their heads.
"Maybe we could practice on one another? I mean it makes sense. Neither of us know how to flirt and we have only kissed one person each really." buoyed by her own wisdom she beamed a bright smile at him.

Sebastian couldn't believe this conversation was even happening, though he could sense that after this conversation something would change about their relationship with each other. This wasn't the sort of conversation that led to things simply going back to what they used to be.

He listened to her explain what had happened with the boy and Sebastian found himself trying to figure through process of elimination who the boy might be. He was left with several possibilities, mostly sixth and seventh years, but since he still didn't know many students by name, he wasn't sure. He wondered if she was expecting him to say anything, but then she continued on. He was glad too because he wouldn't have had anything nice to say about the guy. For some reason, someone flirting with Trilby angered him a bit.

A smile crossed Sebastian's face as Trilby admitted liking to have him to talk with. "I like talking to you too Tril" he said softly as she continued on. When she paused as she spoke about her family, Sebastian looked at Trilby sympathetically. It seemed that she too had some issues with her family that she hadn't shared. Perhaps one day they would be able to speak frankly about their circumstances.

Trilby's idea to practice on each other startled Sebastian out of his thoughts. A look of amusement passed on his face and he laughed nervously as he figured out how to react. On the one hand, he could certainly see how much sense it made. They were friends after all and trusted each other. But, he could also some problems with her plan. Her smile, which looked so hopeful to him, made his decision more than anything. With a shrug, Sebastian said, "Uh...I guess...It does make sense. I mean I trust you more than any of the girls around here." One thing still bugged him about the whole thing though. "Can you just promise me one thing though?" he asked earnestly. "Promise me this won't get all weird or anything." His green eyes looked worried as he waited for Trilby to make the promise.

She was so glad he didn't laugh at her suggestion but rather instead saw the sense to it. Trilby knew that in this entire world if she trusted anyone it was Sebastian. It had not been freely given but had been earned in her opinion and once earned was hard to shake. There was no way now she could ever trust Carlisle again, her trust and faith in her own father had been shaken considerably on the news he had told her before she had returned to school in September and her mother... she had only learnt of her mothers condition and whereabouts in that conversation. Having believed since she was four that her mother had died.

Glancing up at Sebastian as he asked her to promise him one thing she nodded her head fervently as she then turned to face him properly. His one thing though perplexed her, or maybe it was just the English he used.
"I do not understand Sebastian. That what will get ... weird? What do you mean by weird?" a little furrow creased her brow as she looked up at her best friend, she knew she would promise him anything in that moment. Anything at all.

Sebastian saw Trilby nod as he asked for the promise and he breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that perhaps the awkwardness could be over. But then, a look of confusion passed over her face as she asked what he meant. This whole conversation was confusing Sebastian and he knew that when he was in his dorm room tonight, he would probably be thinking this all over.

He turned to face her slowly, his face reddening slightly. "Umm...well" he said, playing with his earring nervously, "I just don't want us to act...I dunno...different around each other just because we practice flirting and stuff." He looked away and continued, "I like having you as a friend Trilby and I don't want anything getting in the way of that."

For some reason Sebastian's explanation wounded her and she could not understand why. This was all completely new to her as well. It wasn't every day she went asking her best friend for help in practicing how to kiss and flirt. Maybe it was a bad idea, she hadn't thought at first about how they would act around one another after they had. Trilby had simply presumed that they would still be themselves and yet now with his words she felt something infinitely different and could not explain it. Perhaps it was a female friend she needed to talk with in matters concerning her best friend. Sebastian liked having her as a friend and that was great, she liked having him as one as well. His 'anything' though grated on her, had she been developing feelings for him without realizing? Trilby sighed a little as she looked at the boy who had turned away from her before she looked out on the snow still billowing about out side.

"So what you are really trying to tell me is that you want to practice with me but you otherwise do not really want to kiss me?" she lowered her head for a moment before lifting her face up to look at the boy beside her.

Sebastian heard Trilby's sigh and then heard her comment. For a moment, he wished he were back in the blizzard because then he wouldn't be having this conversation. He looked back at her quickly and saw that his best friend was gazing at him and waiting for a response. "No...that's not what I'm saying at all" Sebastian began with a sigh of his own, his green eyes filling with frustration at his inability or unwillingness to explain himself well enough to not offend Trilby. He sighed, but this time he was not going to turn away from her.

"I just... Damn...I'm really bad at all this as you can see." he said, trying joke a bit to take off some of the pressure from the tenseness in the room. "I'm just worried that I'll mess this up somehow...I dunno how, but I mess up a lot of things, Trilby." Sebastian's true worry was that the heat when they touched, the sparks when they looked at each other at times and the anger he had felt when she had told him about the guy, all might mean something more than he was ready for. He was confused and needed someone to talk to about it all. Over the years, Sebastian had had many female friends, but not many who had become as close to him as Trilby. Was he ready to just keep being her friend or would this practice do something more? Sebastian looked back at Trilby, his green eyes expressing his worry that she would still be upset.

As she listened to him all she wanted to do was wrap her arms about her best friend and apologize. Tell him how deeply sorry she was for causing the worry that was so visibly etched on his face. Her own features seemed to fall into what could only be termed as a classic French pout as she became thoughtful though remaining equally as unsure as Sebastian.

Her right hand reached out slowly and held his loosely. She would learn not to react to the current that flowed between them, she knew without a doubt that nothing would ever be the same again for them. Trilby had opened a can of worms without ever meaning too.

"I am sorry" she allowed her gaze to move from the hand she held to the green eyes that were now as familiar to her as her own.
"I am capable of ... messing things up as well. I seem to have done just that. We could always try to pretend this conversation never took place?" all of a sudden she wanted to run from there, take cover for being so foolish when she had thought she was being so clever. She let go of his hand and clasped her own two together behind her back, the distance that stood between them was barely a few inches and never before had this bothered either of them, or if it had they never let on. Now, it was driving her crazy she somehow knew that they would be too tentative about one another, too aware of every movement the other made.

When had her feelings for him changed or had they simply always been heading in this direction? As brown eyes looked into green, she fervently wished she was brave enough to broker the distance between them and prove to each other what they were missing out on was infintely more beautiful and possibly more lasting than what they had now. But logic won over, she was only 16 years old and no matter her feelings that were steadily growing for Sebastian she would not allow herself to be caught up in a relationship so early. One that had potential for a 'happy ever after', she was a coward and she knew it. What if this were their only chance? Their only moment to get this right, to discover what they meant to one another and they were letting it go, letting it fall through their fingers like sand? Trilby slowly began to turn away wondering briefly if it were saver to walk through the blizzard than stay here.

As Trilby grabbed his hand, Sebastian was painfully aware of the heat that was coursing between them in that touch. As she dropped her hands and placed them behind her back, a feeling of loss passed over Sebastian. He looked down and away as she apologized because he didn’t think it was necessary, but he also didn’t want to speak and stop the words that were coming from her mouth. Part of him wished that what she said could happen. That they could just pretend the conversation had never happened, but in his heart Sebastian knew he couldn’t. He didn’t want it too anyway. During this brief conversation, feelings that had always been there rose to Sebastian’s consciousness and he realized that he had feelings for Trilby. Strong feelings.

Slowly, shaking his head, Sebastian turned back to Trilby again. They were so close to each other and he didn’t know whether to move closer or draw further away. Suddenly, the heat of the greenhouse was overwhelming and Sebastian, for the second time, wished to be outside, where he would at least be able to breathe easier. He was afraid, but only because he didn’t know what to do. Would Trilby feel the same way? And what if she didn’t?

“I don’t know if I can” he began, deciding to slowly move a step closer and added softly, “I don’t think I want to forget.” Keep going, he urged himself, feeling a need to make her understand how he felt even though he wasn’t entirely sure himself. All of the thoughts in his head were jumbled up and he thought it was lucky that he was making any kind of sense. Somehow, he felt that if he shared his confusion with her, they could perhaps come to some kind of understanding.

Putting one of his hands on the desk by Trilby’s side, Sebastian reached out with his other and turned her face towards his, his hand on her chin. The only other time they had been this close was when they had danced together. The silence in the room was deafening, and Sebastian knew he had to break it. He stared into her brown eyes for a second, wondering if he should go through with it. Closing his eyes, he lowered his lips to Trilby’s and placed a soft kiss on hers, pulling away after only the briefest touch. He let go of her face and looked away, but didn’t move away. “So...sorry…I shouldn’t have done that” he knew he should regret what he had just done because it was just as bad as what the other guy had done to Trilby and had probably ruined their friendship, but he didn’t.

“I should go…” he said, turning away and getting ready to pick his coat up and leave. He had taken the leap and gone for it, but he didn't know what would happen next and it terrified him.

Trilby felt a shiver run through her at his words, it felt distinctly like hope. She looked at him and wondered if he could really feel anything like she was feeling at that moment. As he came closer to her and tilted her chin up to face him, Trilby was convinced she could hear her heart hammering loudly. His lips came to meet hers and she closed her eyes slowly as her own lips moved to meet his. The touch was so brief that she thought for a moment like it had never happened.

Doubting everything for a moment as he apologized for kissing her and then began getting his coat to leave. She had very little experience in many things but being sure now of her own feelings helped her to realize she did not want him to walk away. She did not want to be sorry for how he made her feel.

"Sebastian" she called to him panic rising in her voice as she made her way to stand in front of him, "don't go".

She couldn't say anything else other than smile at him before her own gentle hands cradled his face as she reached up to kiss him. Trilby felt the softness, the gentleness, the agonizing beauty as she kissed him. It seemed an eternity before she broke her mouth from his and slowly moved her hands to his shoulders.
"I am not sorry for how you make me feel. I can not be sorry for wanting to kiss you. I am sorry I did not do it sooner" her face flushed with the revelations of what she had announced to him.
