New Country, New Rules?

Michael made his way through the crowds to the cafe. He had heard people at the floo point talking about it and, as he had no knowledge of the area or country, he decided to give it a shot. As he entered the smell hit him, the smell of a long fire, coffee and Autumn, even though it was now Spring here in New Zealand. He smiled a small smile at the familiarity of the odour and made his way to the queue.

The place was quite crowded, it was lunch time after all, and was full of people rushing to get back to work. That was what Cal thought anyway, for all he knew the people in New Zealand were just rushing all the time. Either way, the man managed to get half way through the shop without an accident.

Just as Michael reached the end of the queue he managed to trip over a moving chair leg and hit into the person in front of him. She was just shorted than him and appeared to be slightly pregnant, or just putting on weight in a very odd manner. He muttered the shy apologies he was used to giving back home and expected the ordeal to be over, as it would be back home, unfortunately it was not.

(Sorry it's not that good)

Galaxy was now almost two months along. She had been underweight, and was now starting to show. She had gained five pounds, and it was all in her stomach. She had to admit, since being taken in by Eden and Haruhi, she had been in a better mood. She even caught herself smiling when she woke up. This didn't change, however, how she felt about most people.

Galaxy felt a weight that hit with a force larger than most things could. It hit her and then apologized. "Apologizing? You think that's a good excuse for bumping into me. Idiota!" She replied in English, then in Italian, her native language. She looked at the man with icey eyes, her blue orbs piercing his cheek. He must have been older. He was definitely taller than herself. Galaxy also made the conclusion that she hated him. She hated his dark hair, the hair that reminded her of... of him.

She wondered why he hadn't reacted to her, so she said it a little louder. "Apologies aren't enough!" She said in a slightly elevated tone, but not loud enough to make a huge scene.

Michael was confused at the words. He had never really been shouted at by a stranger before. His natural instinct was to make like a deer and freeze in front of the headlights that were this woman but she didn't allow that and kept talking. First English, then Italian (He assumed anyway, it's what it sounded like) and then English again.

Cal really didn't know what else to say, sorry generally fixed most problems. Maybe 'sorry' didn't work in New Zealand. "Uh, I could buy your drink for you?" Came his unsure reply, he really had no other ideas of what to do. The man was still confused about why a random stranger would talk to him.

Michael was panicking in his head while his face remained a stony picture of indifference, what if all people here were this forward? He didn't know how he would deal with strangers talking to him all the time? He stopped his thoughts quickly so he could focus his murky brown eyes on the woman and hear her response to his offer. He really hoped she took the offer, he didn't really have much else he could do for her.
