Forename: Nephrolepis
Nephrolepis is the name for a family of natural growing ferns. Her Mother named her this because of what she named her sister - Rue. Rue is a flower, and her Mother liked flower names, believeing it made her daughters sound like fresh and innocent children. People have trouble pronouncing and spelling it, as did she until she was about 8 years old. She's happily with her name though, as it is unique and can be shortened to 'Nephy'.
Middle name(s): Helena
Helena means 'wicker' or 'reed'. Her Father wanted to give her this middle name after his grandmother who passed away some ten years ago. Other than this, the family agreed that they loved the name and it would be suitable to match the first name Nephrolepis.
Surname: Undersee
This is the family name. The name could have been Undersee-Linley, but the parents agreed that instead of naming their first child Sinclair Undersee-Linley, that it would be much easier to keep it as Undersee. Nephrolepis thinks this surname is cute, and much more interesting than most other surnames.
Nickname(s): Nephy, Neph, Nephro, Leps, Nephs, Trouble, Flower.
Most of these are just shortenings of her full name Nephrolepis, however her Father nicknames her 'trouble' and her Mother used to call her 'flower' when she was of a younger age. She grew out of this nickname several years ago, and is glad, because she hated it. It made her sound too girly, which she liked to think she wasn't.

In the holidays, Nephy's house is in the woods. She lives with her sister and Father, who is often at work and Nephy and her Sister are left in the house on their own for most of the day. She doesn't complain about this, since she isn't very fond of her father, and any time he spends out of the house is good time in her opinion. If Rue didn't live at home, she would rather have stayed at Hogwarts for the holidays.

Though Nephy is currently a student, she plans to be a comedian when she leaves school. Despite having an interest in magic, she is going don't the path her heart leads her.

Being part goblin, Nephrolepis us undoubtebly going to be much smaller then other children of her age. This doesn't really bother her anymore - it was worse at muggle schools. Now she feels like she fits in better, as people are more likely to understand why she's such a shortie.
Weight: Average.
Nephrolepis weighs what someone of her height should weight. She is neither over or underweight, though she used to be a little underweight before her Mother realized she wasn't feeding her enough.
Eye colour: Dark brown.
Unlike her sister Rue, Nephrolepis has amazing, dark brown eyes. They seem to glow more brightly and pure when she is feeling any kind of strong emotion, whether it be anger, happiness, jealousy, pride etc.
Hair colour: Ash blonde.
Neph's hair used to be a lighter blonde than it is now, however as she has grown older, it has slowly darkened. It remains a fawn/blonde colour, and she hopes it wont darken any more as she loves the colour and doesn't want to have to dye it back to blonde when she's older just to stay happy.
Hair style: Long, wavy/curly.
Though she often straightens her hair, Nephy naturally has curly hair, which she finds hard to tame into submission. Still, she likes the uniqueness and bounciness of her hair, claiming it's just like her personality, as many would agree.
Build: Petit, robust.
Though Nephrolepis has a small build, she's also very strong and robust for somone of her size. She can't easily be pushed over, and she can fight off people quite a lot bigger than herself. She'll have no trouble if anyone decides to bully her at Hogwarts, so long as she doesn't get into any trouble. People often think they can push her around because of her height, but they're very wrong indeed, and will find that out the hard way. She's not afraid to give someone what they deserve, though she's usually a more timid person.
Piercings: None.
She refused to get her ears pierced by screaming the place down when her Mother tried to force her. After that, she wasn't forced to do anything she didn't want to do. I wouldn't blame the Mother.
Tattoos: None.
Nephrolepis doesn't plan to get any of these, ever. It's not the pain she dislikes, she is just repulsed by the idea that when she's old and wrinkly, she'd still have the tattoo. In fact, she's very good with pain, which is probably something which put her in Gryffindor.
Personality:
Nephrolepis is a brave, feisty young Gryffindor who strives to have adventures, make friends and enjoy the time she has whilst she can. There's nothing she enjoys more than to explore something new, especially with a fellow Gryffindor who is also up for an adventure. She loves being surrounded by people who care about her, but this often doesn't happen as she is so small people overlook her. Sometimes she can turn shy for short periods of time, usually when she's feeling down or unhappy about something. She makes a good friend, as she is understanding of other people's difficulties, having been through a lot with her sister, and gives great advice and support to those who need it, even if it's advice they already knew. Nephrolepis is strong, strong enough to stand up for herself and fight either for her or her friends. She'll get into a good fight if she knows it's for the best or she wants to teach someone a lesson, though this will often end in her getting into trouble. Being small, she's agile and quick, able to confuse her enemies and frustrate them into giving up. Around her friends, she's quite chatty, funny, and wishes to be a comedian when she's older.
Why?:
Nephrolepis was bought up fending for herself, as her parents were always more interested in her sister's difficulties. She never had any of the attention at home, and so used to wander off and explore, coming home hours later to find nobody had even realized she was gone. She felt like the runt of the litter, and defending herself outside was second nature. She got into scrapes and bumps but never complained because of the fun she always had whilst she was outdoors. It was a second home for her to be outside, and she knew exactly what to do if she was hurt or lost outside. She's never been seriously injured because her body is so used to falling out of trees or falling over on ice. In her opinion, it's fun to be in a tricky situation and have to work out what to do, possibly even to save your own life.
Friends
Rohan Kearsley
Rohan is an extremely thoughtful Slytherin second year who looked after Nephy when she was going through one of her rough patches. He is a trouble maker and music lover, which is why Nephy is now keen to learn music to impress him. They are close friends, and have done many things together. Nephy would probably call him her closest friend, despite the fact they haven't actually known each other for very long. If he never needed help, she would be there for him to repay the way he helped her. She plans on opening up to him in the future, though she is still too shy at the moment.
Samual Kaster
Nephy doesn't really know much about Samual yet. They met in the gardens by accident and seemed to become friends instantly. They explored/played together, despite him being a third year and her a First. She hopes to get to know him better, although she finds herself blushing around him a lot. Nephy is currently unsure about whether Sam actually wants to be her friend, or is going to turn on her when she says something wrong. Nephy calls him 'Sammy'.
Felicity Castillo
Felicity was one of Nephy's first friends, and they continue to be this way now. She has the ability to make Nephy laugh, even when she's not feeling very bright, which she believes is always good to have in a friend. She hopes to be Felicity's friend forever. Felicity is a muggle born, but Nephy has no problem with them or pure bloods, so it doesn't make a difference to their friendship at all.
House: Gryffindor.
Nephrolepis reckons she was placed here for her bravery and courage, plus her willingness to stand up for herself if things get tough. She loves adventure, too, which could have been a big factor when the sorting hat chose her house. She is very happy about where she's been placed, and will do very well in this house. The sorting hat did a good job.
Year: First year.

Favourite lesson: Divination.
Nephrolepis thought that she would like defence against the dark arts most, as she enjoys getting into trouble every now and then. She surprised herself when she found out that her favourite subject is actually divination.
Worst lesson: Will be ancient runes.
Nephrolepis just thinks she will have something against this subject when she has to do it. She hates the idea of it and will probably not be paying much attention in the lessons of this subject.
Boggart: A huge python.
Nephrolepis isn't afraid of many things, but snakes is one thing. She fears them so much, and this is why her boggart would be a snake. The snake would turn into a pink snake with a wooly scarf and a hat on, and would start smiling at her for no reason.
Animagus: A husky.
For one, she adores the way they look. They're also strong, and pull people along in the snow. She's a good motivater, and thinks she would definitely be a husky should she be an animagus.
Patronus: A fox.
They're clever, sly, quick, and agile, some of which Nephrolepis is.
Patronus memory: Rue's 17th birthday.
This is a significant memory to her because she remembers the delight on Rue's face, a smile which she hadn't seen for so many years from her sister because of the things she'd been through, and it warmed Nephrolepis' heart that she was finally happy again.

First school diary entry:
Dear Diary,
I arrived at Hogwarts today! It's so huge here. I've been sorted into Gryffindor! I can't wait to tell my Father. I really with I could write to my Mother, too. I can't believe she left me just before I had to leave for school. It will be hard, but I wasn't really close to her, anyway. I know Rue was, but she's left school now. I have nobody here who I know, and it's going to be quite hard to make friends. I've spotted a few nice looking people when I was in the sorting ceremony, but they all went into different houses! I guess everything will work out OK in the end.
I heard they have a huge garden here, and a forbidden forest! I'll definitely be going there as soon as I can. Hogwarts is going to be such a great adventure, I cant wait to find out what else there is to do. I think I have to go now - there are people coming into my dorm and they'll probably start pestering me about where I've put my stuff. Some of the girls here are already turning out to be completely stuck up. They've been whispering about my height behind my back when they think I can't hear them! Totally stupid, if you ask me. Anyway, I'll write again soon.

History:
Nephrolepis was born in a small town not far from Paris in 2018, where she lived with her sister until her sister had to attend a magical school. The entire family was moved to New Zealand, thinking that Rue would attend Hogwarts New Zealand, though she ended up attending Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and then finally Hogwarts New Zealand. Nephrolepis, however, was going to go to to HNZ as soon as she turned eleven, and couldn't wait to go the moment she found out. When she was five, the family tried explaining to her what they meant, but, she was young and didn't understand a thing. She wasn't like a normal person? Her shortness was not caused by an unsolvable problem she was born with? Nothing really made sense until they explained to her again when she was eight. Finally, she understood exactly what her family meant.
Having grown up in a strict household, Nephrolepis was originally scared of her family. Especially her sister Rue, who always seemed to have something wrong with her. She was afraid she'd end up just like her, though this seemed unlikely. With all attention on Rue, Nephrolepis found she could easily slip out of the house when she was just six years old and go on quick adventures, exploring the woodland area around their home for a few hours before returning to the house, unnoticed. Her parents didn't realize she was leaving regularily to go on little expeditions until she was seven, and by then, they trusted that she wasn't going to get into any trouble. They were wrong - she regularily got hurt, into trouble, into mischief and accidents, but she never let on. If she had, she wouldn't have been able to go exploring again anyway.
From then on, Nephrolepis seemed to grow up in a little fantasy world of her own. She was great at making up imaginary games and friends with herself in the wood, and she was not once bored. Surviving was second nature. She pretended she lived in the forest, having to survive on only what she could find or do with her bare hands. She ate things she found without really knowing what they were, depending on her gut feelings to keep her safe. Not once did she fall ill with anything she did, and now she is older, she assumes everything she did in the woods had given her a strong immune system. Rarely prone to colds or other illnesses, Nephrolepis doesn't regret spending so much time outdoors in the freezing cold winters and in the boiling hot summers. In winter, she'd simply wrap up warm, and if she slipped on ice, she would pick herself back up again, brush herself off, and carry on, no matter how much pain she was in. Not once did her parents realize how bruised she was when she came home, and not once did they even care.
So, bought up defending herself, standing on her own two feet and making sure she kept out of her parents way, Nephrolepis was overjoyed to find out she was going to a boarding school. Finally, she would be able to get away from the place which had been causing her grief, including her parents, and explore somewhere new for a change. After all, the forest did get boring after a while. The next three years passed agonizingly slowly for Nephrolepis, as she waited for her eleventh birthday when she would recieve her letter of acceptance at Hogwarts New Zealand. There was a flood of doubt inside her that it was either all a trick, or that she for some reason wouldn't be good enough for Hogwarts, that the school would change their mind about accepting her because she was too weird. But she was wrong. Her excitement nearly caused her to rip her letter in half as she opened it, and she sqealed for several minutes before she calmed down. Her parents had no idea why she was so excited, and, once again, they didn't really care either. In fact, they were pleased that they were going to have the house to themselves more often now that Rue was working most of the day and Nephrolepis was at Hogwarts. Completely unaware of everything around them, their parents were happy as ever.
