Summer was pretty hot New Zealand, Darla was looking forward on going home soon, she missed her professors more than her own mother. The girl was ambitious to continue her lessons that she had missed due to Hogwarts. Being homeschooled was in her mind. She wanted to keep up with her lessons that she missed. The lessons that were offered in Hogwarts was limited, but by being homeschooled, Darla could do anything she wanted. This explained why she dislike school. Especially the students who had been acting like fools had driven her crazy.

The great lawn came up to Darla's mind. With a violin case on her left hand, the little girl walk toward the great lawn. As soon as she step on the great lawn, she her violin case on the bench and took out her violin. She bean playing one if her favorite classical song by Tchaikovsky. She closed her eyes as she began to play it a little bit slower and listen to it carefully.

Vayne walked into the great lawn hoping to get some fresh air. It sure was hot since it is already summer even though it is December. Looking around him, he search for a place where he could relaxed and contemplate about the things that had happened to him while he was in Hogwarts.

As he looked around him, he heard a beautiful melody being played.

-A Violin?- He thought to himself, he was really into music and he now, he began to wonder who it was that is playing the violin, searching around, he saw a young girl about his age.

"Uhm... Hi?" He said softly, not wanting to disturb the girl in her playing.

Right after Darla finished playing the whole song, the little girl heard a soft voice, at first she was going to yell at him for disturbing her playing violin but after seeing that he wasn't one of those bullies, she decided not to. She placed her violin gently on the case and turned herself around so she was facing him. "Hello" She said with a smile on her face trying to figure out what the boy want.

Sometimes Darla was too serious, the girl wasn't good at associating with kids on her age. The first year Ravenclaw didn't have many friends, she was always alone and quiet. This was the very first time she decided to take a rest for a while and communicate with kids on her age. "Can I help you with something?" She asked. Again, the girl wasn't good around kids on her age so a lot of them had been mocking Darla for being different than any other kids.

Vayne's eyes brightened when the girl had responded to him. He was a bit disappointed that the melody stopped but happiness had overcome it. He really wants to know the girl who had managed to play such a beautiful music.

"Well, it's not that I need anything, I'm just wondering if you....well, you know...I'm just wondering if you wanted someone to talk to?" He asked, finding the right words that can best describe what he wanted to say.

"It's lonely to be on your own, so, well, what I really wanted to say is that, can I join you here? Well, that's if I am not disturbing you or anything..." He added, clarifying his previous statement. He knows that he had sounded weird, but he really wanted to befriend the girl.

"Oh, by the way, my name is Vayne..." He said with a huge smile as he extend his hand for a handshake.

Darla didn't know what to say when the boy asked her if he wanted to talk with him but after knowing that he wanted to join her, she jumped to the conclusion that he was lonely. Usually what she did with her brother, Mason was to let him study with her everytime he's lonely. But the boy in front of her was different. "I've been studying since morning. I guess I can make time" She said before putting her violin into the case and closed it, not sure if she was going to play it again or not.

Good thing that Darla was having a good day. Little Darla smiled at the boy who introduced himself as Vayne. The name was a little unusual to Darla. She shook his hand before introducing herself. "I'm Darla, Darla Kuang. If I may ask you, are you Chinese, Japanese, or Korean?" she asked curiously. Darla had interest in learning different languages. Her father pushed her to learn more and more. And she liked it, unlike her little brother, Mason.

Vayne was really happy that the girl, Darla, had accepted his invitation. Sitting down comfortably beside her, he looked at the violin that she had just set down.

"Nice to meet you Darla, I hope we can be good friends! You know, you play the violin really really good..." He said as he looked at her, smile evident on his face. He had always wanted to learn to play the said instrument, as he can only play the piano and the guitar.

"I'm half Japanese, Half-American. My mom's Japanese. How about you? You look like Asian too, and your name sounds like one... " He asked enthusiastically.

Little Darla smuled when the boy compliment her skill, of course she was good. Every single adult that heard her play complimente her even the professors. "Thank you... I've been playing since I was two and a half" Darla loved showing off her skills to other people. "Japanese? My aunty is half Japanese. She taught me how to speak Japanese and since then my father hire a Japanese professor to teach me Japanese language" Darla lost her childhood because of learning too much, yet her father didnt care. But since she was in Hogwarts she hadn't been able to learn as much as she used to. "I'm Chinese but I used to live in Canada. What about you? Your parents are in America? Or New Zealand?" The little girl asked curiously.

"Oh, you learned at a very young age...I tried once to play the violin but I failed, I wasn't able to produce melody as good as yours..." Vayne said with a serene smile, he remembered when he had tried to play the violin when he was 8 but in the end, it makes a screeching sound... he had never tried it again eversince. But he wanted to learn to play it, he just don't know how.

"I used to live in Japan when I was young until I was 4, but now, I am residing at Springfield, Illinois..." He said. He looked at the sky before adding something about his parents.

"My parents had passed away 2 years ago, on my 9th birthday....It was because of some car accident... But... don't worry about it... I'm fine now, really" He added softly. He doesn't want his new friend to feel bad about him having no parents. He had moved on now, he had already accepted wholeheartedly this tragedy that had happened on his life.

"Anyways, you are Chinese? Cool huh?" He said enthusiastically to lighten up the mood

Darla had no interest in those who tell her that they fail in doing something, if she said that to her father, he would force her to attend more classes or in other words, she wont be able to play like other kids. But right after she heard that the boy lost his parents, she think about him differently. "I am so sorry, I hope you're okay" She said not knowing what to say since she got both of her parents and had never lost a family member. "Who are you living with now?" She asked hoping that it wasn't too private, but Darla didn't mind if the boy didn't want to answer her question because it was too personal. "Yeah I'm Chinese" She laughed as she locked her violin case.

"I am living independently since our house is just next to my aunt's...And well, our house maid, yoshida-san, drops by every morning to the house to tend to my needs..so it is not really that hard... it's kinda fun when you actually think about it, learning to depend on yourself, learning to be strong to live, my parents once taught me that. They taught me to live my life to the fullest no matter what..." Vayne answered with a small smile when Darla asked him about his life...He doesn't really mind the girl asking about his personal life, he felt that he can trust the girl, and besides, he had moved on already, nothing will happen if he would live on the past.

"You know, lately, I've been planning to continue my study about how to play the violin, it's been my dream, I failed once, but, oh well, nothing will happen if I just give up right?" He added when he saw Darla locked her violin case. He had one at home, given to him by his father. He hadn't open it since the incident, but now, he decided that once he go back home, he'll try it again.

Darla stared at the boy in awe, she was amazed that he could live all by himself. Darla only see her parents on weekend since they were both busy. "Good job then" She said, The little girl rarely praise someone but after hearing his story about living all by himself, her heart was touched. "Violin? Requires discipline. If you're not a pureblood then you might know this school, Juilliard. My parents are professors there." Little Darla said proudly as she continue speaking "But as for me, I was taught by a good friend of my parent's, a Russian professor. Five hours a day, depend on what day though. Sometimes it's three, sometimes it's five, sometimes it's seven if I have to perform somewhere" The girl said proudly, showing off her skill a little.

Vayne smiled when Darla praised him, rarely was it that he was praised for being independent. "That's kind of new for me, I was never praised before for choosing to live on my own, when people heard of that, they look at me with pity, I don't like that, I'm not weak like what they thought..." Vayne felt really happy, Darla is really different from those people who he had once knew.

"Juilliard? Yes I've heard of that school..it's a school for performing arts right? It is very famous... Your parents teach there? Cool!" Vayne exclaimed, he had heard of Juilliard before and from what he had heard, he knew that it was a very prestigious school.

"So you study five times a day? that's kinda....well...hard.., but it paid off right? You have become a very great violinist..After all, No pain no gain as what they say" He added when Darla told him about how long it is that she had studied the violin. He had greatly admired the girl's determination to learn something. She was young yet her will is resolute.

Of course Vayne would tell Darla that she was a very great violinist, everyone said that all the time and Darla liked it everytime other people praise her. She was proud of her self, she loved it whenever she went on the stage and perform, or whenever the professors praise her in a master class. She loved the feeling, this explained why the girl was a little arrogant and loved to show off her skills to other people.

"Yes, violin lesson starts from six to nine and then I have breakfast and from ten to twelve I have piano lesson, and then lunch, and from one to three, violin again. And then an hour of French, an hour of Italian, an hour of Japanese, and an hour of Korean. Depend on what day though" Little Darla said proudly not knowing that her schedule was crazy,

The question that had been stuck in her head was, what could the boy do? What was he good at?
"Did you get to learn the history of magic before you came here?" She asked curiously.

"You have a very busy day...It's amazing that you can manage to do all that..."Vayne said as he listened attentively as Darla told him about her schedules, her day was pretty full he had noticed, that is something that he knew a child like her should not be able to experience, he was really amazed at how mature Darla is. He views her as an over all achiever.

"Well, Okaa-san and Otou-san, that's how I call my mom and dad, had given me some background about the history of magic, I was 5 when they first introduced me to this world...Well, it's really amazing when you think of it, that had help me to live independently." Vayne answered when Darla had asked him if he knew about magic even before he had come to the school.

"Before he died, Otou-san thought me about potions and herbology like 3 to 4 hours a day, depending on his schedule since he was a doctor, those are my favorite subjects now, and I think I'm doing pretty well on that....and Okaa-san, she taught me wonderful stories about different magical creatures when she's not at work....she was also the one who taught me how to play the piano,."
He added serenely.

"How about you? How did you learn about magic?"
He asked enthusiastically, he wanted to know more about Darla.

Darla listen carefully yo every single words that Vayne said. She was impressed that the boy's father was a doctor. Darla's family were either musicians or the owner of restaurants. Darla had secretly wished that she could live like pureblood families than muggles. The life was too complicated as muggles and there was a lot of rules, she thought.

"Professor Riley Smith taught my brother the theory of dark magic. My mother hire a professor from Hogwarts Scotland to teach me the theory of magic. But performing it is quite different" She admitted. Little Darla sometimes struggle casting spells but she had to success no matter what happen.

A smile appear on her face as she stood up in front of the boy, placing a hand yo his shoulder. "Ganbatte kudasai! Vayne chan. I'm sure you can do it. If you need help with piano or violin then I can help you"She said in Japanese and smiled and took her hand away and took a few steps away from the bench. She closed her eyes as she felt the warm wind blowing her hair.

"Yes, performing magic and learning about it are two different things, learning is quite easy, but performing it correctly and perfectly? Now that needs lots of practice..." Vayne said when Darla talked about how she learned magic. He remembered the first time that he had tried it, it was a lot harder than he had thought.

He watched as Darla stood up and place her hand on his shoulder. Vayne was a bit surprised by the sudden contact but he did not mind it, after all, Darla is his friend he thought.

He felt at ease when Darla smiled and told him that she is willing to help him with the violin.

"Domo Arigato Darla-chan, I really appreciate the encouragement.." He replied in Japanese as well. He felt really happy as he watched Darla closed her eyes as if enjoying the gentle blow of the wind.

"The wind feels nice ne?" He said absentmindedly, as he unconsciously closed his eyes too to enjoy the breeze.

It had been a while since Darla were able to speak in Japanese with other people. "Okasan doesn't let me stay out in the sun for too long due to my busy schedule. So why not enjoy it while I can?" She smiled at Vayne. He was her very first friend. It's een months since she got to Hogwarts but show was always by herself, keeping up with work.

"I'm planning on transferring school next year. I'd like to keep up with ballet, piano, violin, and the rest of my lessons"She had secretly wanted to stay in Hogwarts a little longer but she would do anything to make her parents happy even though she had to lose her childhood.

"Hai, we must live our life to the fullest ne?" Vayne commented when Darla said that she should enjoy while she still can. He felt nostalgic, it's been long since he last speak on his native language since he has no one to converse with.

"Matte, You are transferring? That's.... well...sad..." Vayne suddenly said when Darla told him that she was planning to transfer somewhere. He did not expect that.

"Doushite? Don't you like it here?" He asked worriedly, he had gotten quite fond of the girl and it was quite a shock to hear her plan.

"Nande Monai, I really like it here" Darla smiled as she her eyes started to wander around the castle, the school was very good and so was the students but her father wanted her to be transferred to England, to the school where her father used to enroll. She didn't really mind, her brother would be with Darla in no time, she knew it, probably when Darla was in the fifth or sixth year then Mason would be the first year. She was sure he would have a lot of fun. "Okasan wants me to be able to keep up with other studies that are not available in here" She said.

R u really Japanese/ d'u watch a lot of Japanese animes?

Vayne listened carefully as Darla told him the reason of her transferring. He felt sad but if Darla had already made up her mind, he had no right to stop her.

"I see, but it would be really sad, we've just met and well....you're leaving already, is your decision really final?" He asked softly, he wanted the girl to stay but it's not like he have the right to tell her what to do. He had just met her after all.

"What are the things that aren't taught here?" He asked, waiting patiently for Darla's answer.

OOCOut of Character:
I'm not Japanese, but I'm really fond of watching anime as well as Japanese idols...^^

Darla shook her head when Vayne asked if the decision was final. "It all depend and well since my father went to Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts, he wants me to be in that school as well. So obviously, it's Dramatic Arts that is not or will not be taught here" She giggle, Darla couldn't understand why her father want her to be able to do dramas and stuff, she found it unimportant but again, it all depend on her father. He decide everything that had to do with Darla's life.

:o sugooiii neee... xD ... Lucky Star's my fav xD

Vayne was relieved when Darla told him that her decision was not yet final at all."That's a relief then, I might be rude to say that but I'm really happy that your decision is not yet final, at least, we can still talk right? And I do think you're right, I doubt that dramatic arts will ever be taught here, but there are student organizations here who are interested in that stuff....." He said with a smile.

Vayne then looked at Darla, carefully analyzing how he will phrase his next question so as not to offend her. "I'm just wondering Darla, what is it that you really want for yourself? What are your dreams?" He asked curiously, he know that Darla is someone who will strive very hard to make her parents happy, she is an overall achiever, and he admired her for that. But he is wondering what is the thing that the girl had actually want for herself.
OOCOut of Character:
Lucky star's cool, my favorites are Death note, prince of tennis and Naruto... ^_^

This was the first time Darla was asked what she wanted to be in the future, what she really wanted to be. The little girl wasn't sure, she didn't know how to answer Vayne's question. She kept quiet for several minute and started thinking what she wanted to do. "I guess to prove my parents that I can be like them, successful." She said reassuring her self that she wont regret losing her childhood.
"Why did you ask? What about you?" She asked and smiled as she looked at him. Darla never really care about anyone else's dream but not this time. For the first time in her life, she had a friend, and for the first time in her life she cared about someone else's business.

OOCOut of Character:
U remind me of jigoku shoujo <_<

Vayne give his full attention as Darla told him what she wanted to be on the near future. He really admire how determined the girl is in proving her worth as well as in making her parents proud. "You are a very good daughter aren't you? " He said with a smile.

"Me? Well, I wanted to prove the worth of my existence, I wanted to do things that no one had ever done before, I wanted to make my parents proud even if they are no longer here, I guess I have a lot of things that I wanted to do, things that are very hard to achieve but nevertheless, still possible." He answered after Darla asked him about his dream.

"you know, there are times when I cannot fully understand why people still dreams despite knowing that some of them are quite impossible to achieve, despite knowing that there are going to be lots of sacrifices and risks in order to get what they want...It's quite ironic isn't it?In order to be happy you have to suffer first?" He added, while thinking deeply, he know that maybe what he is saying doesn't make any sense at all, but still, he wants to express what he is thinking.
OOCOut of Character:
haha... really? Why is that? xD  :D
