There were some elements to Lynn her life that she didn't want to show anyone. Once of those was moments were she showed her weakness. She peaked inside the Conglomerated Arts Room and found it was completely empty. When she was sure the room was deserted Lynn crept into the room and closed the door behind her. There was no way to actually lock it, so simple closing it had to do now.

Lynn grabbed a ukulele from the stack of mystical instruments and looked at the piece of wood. The one she owned at home was less professional as the one she was holding now. She had no real talent for the instrument, nor was she very experienced in playing. She liked the sound and she did try to actually learn the instrument. Not that anyone could find out she was trying to actually learn something. She had to keep up with the appearance of being good at everything.

She tried to strum for a short while, but it did sound of key. Not that it mattered she was alone, a safe zone.

Eugene couldn’t quite get enough of hogwarts, he’d never been in a school so big, in a school so fancy. Even the apartment blocks that he’d lived in had not had this level of scale. He swore every time he left the dorm he ended up somewhere different. It was amazing. He had told his cousin all about it. Practicing his penmanship by writing long letters to her, his hands were always now dirty with ink and his hand writing was truly atrocious but he was getting to get it eventually, it just needed him to work hard and work at it. But today once he’d finished his letter he’d gone wandering, he had his guitar with him, since it seemed there were a number of great places with great acoustics that he might be able to practice in. He’d practice anywhere of course but there were times he wouldn’t want to disturb his dorm mates or his house mates and would need places indoors to practice.

It was in his wandering that he heard a noise, he could figure it was a ukulele but it was not in tune at all. He cringed at it and began to walk towards where the noise had been and he found the room. It was an arts or music room, had instruments, this was exactly the place for him. Inside it he noticed a girl with ginger hair that he remembered from sorting, her name escaped him but he was sure that she was Slytherin. ”Kia Ora,” he called out with a wide and keen expression, ”That ukuleles pretty out of tune mate, do you want me to tune it for you?” he offered his help to her. If she was playing there alone then he wouldn’t want to disturb her private practice, ”I’ll leave immediately after if you’re looking to practice on your own?”

Lynn hadn't noticed that the door opened and she hadn't noticed the boy until he was closer and actually spoke to her Lynn looked straight at him. She hadn't noticed it was out of tune and know she felt incredibly stupid. He actually offered to tune it for her, that was nice. He didn't even know her, why would he do stuff if you couldn't gain anything for her. Lynn was utterly confused, but free help would mean she could get better with the ukulele.

She was utterly intrigued, something that was new for her. ''Yeah, you can tune it'' Lynn said while handing over the instrument. She was caught in the act and there was no way to deny that she was playing. The only thing she could do was lay low. ''Eh.. you can stay if you want'' Lynn said to the boy. ''What do you play?'' If he could tune an ukulele he must be pretty good.

Eugene smiled as she agreed and he then took the ukulele from her. Eugene took his own guitar off and placed it down beside him as he took a quick seat. He gave each of the strings a little play, leaning his ear towards it as if to hear a little better and he then began tuning it. He started from the top string and worked his way down, as he worked he nodded at the girl. ”Guitar mostly, but was picking up a bit of piano and drums at my last school,” he had only ever been able to play them during the school lessons so he hadn’t gotten too far yet. He hummed a little to help him get the last string tuned and then smiled, ”That should sound better,” Eugene picked up his guitar and quickly tuned it too, letting his fingers play a light and practice tune. ”How long have you been playing the uke?”

The boy seemed to be pretty good with tuning the little ukulele. Lynn hadn't heard it was even out of tune. Maybe she should give up on the side project, it had never brought her anything. She secretly did like playing the little instrument even though it didn't sound very good when she did it. It always proved to be a good offense to Rose talking to her plants. It muted her voice out so easily.

''That is a lot'' She thought it was pretty cool, but she wasn't going to confess that. She received the ukulele back from the boy and looked at the various knobs that had been turned. ''Thanks'' Lynn muttered not wanting to sound too ungrateful. ''Uh.. A couple of months'' Not wanting to say it was way longer and she had barely made any progress. She didn't like small talk and if this guy played multiple instruments he must be fairly decent. ''Can you teach me a couple of cool things?'' Lynn said to the boy. ''If you are going to be my musical friend you should at least know my name, I am Lynn'' Purposely not adding her last name, she didn't want this boy to make any connection to Rose.

Eugene shrugged, ”Yeah nah bro, that’s assuming I was good at drums or piano,” he left it to perhaps imply that he hadn’t been that good at it, when in fact with more time and more practice Eugene could’ve gotten good at both. He gave her a smile as she thanked him and said it had been a couple of months and he just nodded, it was fair to expect that she wouldn’t know how to tune it after a few months. ”Self taught?” he asked thinking that was additionally perhaps why. He gave a little laugh and gave a half shrug, ”Uke’s aren’t my forte, but I can show you a couple of chords?” he put down his own guitar and reached a hand to take back the Uke, he would need to figure it out for himself first before he handed it back. ”Happy to be your musical friend! I’m Eugene,” he said with a smile. ”It is good to meet you Lynn,” he had a tone of truly believing it. Lynn seemed nice, and she wasn’t quiet like Crystal or mean like Zachariah. She seemed nice and she was looking to learn music which he was all for.

Lynn was amused about how chirpy and happy this boy was. It probably worked contagious for normal people, but Lynn could still think straight. She smiled at the right time when the boy said he wasn't that good at drums or piano. Lynn didn't care for the two of them, she hated drums and she never desired to play piano. Drums were overly noisy and didn't sound very good anyway. ''Yes.'' Lynn said as a reply to his question.

''Sounds good'' Lynn said while giving the instrument back to the boy. Lynn found it funny that this boy was basically a golden retriever that already did anything that she wanted. He would get something in return from his musical knowledge, he would get her company. ''Likewise'' Lynn tried to think back to sorting, trying hard to remember his house. Not that Lynn remembered other people's houses, she only cared about hers. She was sure he was sorted after her, she remembered already being seated behind the Slytherin table. Not only was she blessed with magic, she also had the looks and had some brains in the red head of hers. Lynn remembered that everyone was asking about what they were most excited for at Hogwarts. Such meaningless questions, but golden boy probably liked the interest. ''What are you most excited for at Hogwarts?" Lynn asked while looking at what the boy was doing.

Eugene took the ukulele and played a couple of quick chords, then moving to play a couple of quick scales. It was clear, to him at least, that he needed practice with a uke, but it likely sounded good to others. He adjusted his fingers move carefully as Lynn asked what he was most excited about, which honestly for Eugene was a rather hard question. ”Probably the magic, like doing a few spells will be really exciting,” he said ”What about you?” he returned but he had finished warming his hands on the uke up and smiled, ”Okay, so if you…” and eugene launched into a quick explanation of two chords, how to hold your hand to do them, how to avoid having a finger on two strings and then how to strum. ”Now you!” he held out the ukelele to her and smiled. He was sitting in a manner that he hoped conveyed though he was handing her back her instrument he was ready to help her move her fingers to the right places.

Did this boy just say a few spells, there was so much more than magic. Lynn was here for the real game, not some childish waving of a wand. ''I am excited to experience what magic can do with the proper knowledge and movement'' Lynn chose her words carefully, her ultimate goal was becoming something big and grant. She wanted to have power, she wanted to change the world.

Lynn listened to golden boy and retrieved the ukulele back from the boy. She tried to follow the proper finger movements and tried to follow the chords he had shown. Lynn wasn't very good at doing two things at once and it was pretty hard to play the chord and move the strings in the same play. ''Its hard to do the two things at once'' Lynn said to the boy.

Eugene smiled as she answered the question, nodding slightly. He could agree that it would be cool to see all they could do with the proper training. He was looking forward to being able to do that too, but in his mind that would only be after so much work, so a few spells would be good now. Eugene handed back the guitar and watched as she tried it. He nodded at her statement and gave a little smile. ”So don’t, get your hand in position do the first chord, and then just strum,” he encouraged, though she’d said she’d been doing this for months he was beginning to question that just a tiny bit, but perhaps she just hadn’t managed to get very far. ”Once you feel confident on one chord, you can do another, strum at that. Eventually you can try jumping between the two, and then you’ve managed a chord change,” he said excitedly.
