Mark sat on the large rock by the side of the lake. A lot of the other years were in lessons but he had a free and as he had no proper home work he thought that he would just be alone for a while. The sound of the water kind of calmed him slightly and he was thankful for that. He didn't particularly like being around people all the time. Since everything that had happened in his life Mark was not the people person he used to be, he didn't see why people would happened in like him as he had nothing to like. He just saw himself as a waste of space that brought nothing but bad luck to people.

Sydney walked around the lake. It was her favourite spot in the school and she always came here to think. She hadn't seen Teddy in a while and she had over heard a girl in the Common room, Ava she thought it was, mentioning something like his dad had died. If that was true he needed space, she knew how that felt after all. Well, she knew how it felt when her own dad had died but Teddy was close with his, they were practically best friends. It must be hell for him.

As she walked, Sydney looked over to her usual spot. A rock by the lake that was in open air but slightly hidden by tree's enough that no one really bothered you. There was a boy sitting there. Someone she didn't know. From where she was he could tell he was older than her but that was really it. she didn't know why it bugged her that he was sat there but it did.

Sydney walked over and sat next to him, not on the rock but on the grass next to it. She didn't say any thing but watched him out of the corner of her eye. He was quite cute, in a kind of brooding sort of way.

Mark brought his hands together and cracked his knuckles as he looked over the water. He could remember going swimming here at the start of the year but that had been a while ago and he hadn't done it much since. It was Winter at the moment after all and the water would be freezing. He couldn't tell right now if it was cold out because he ha just become so numb since the whole ordeal with Alana. He could beaten with a bat and he wouldn't feel a thing any more. Some would say that he was basicly dead to all emotion now. Broken beyond repair. Only time would tell though. He had heard the saying that time heals all wounds. He wondered if it would heal him.

The boy as deep in thought and he didn't take much notice of the figure that as next to him until he snapped back to reality and looked down to his side to see who it was. A young girl sat on the ground. "Hey." He said blankly before looking back over he water. It was just something to show that he wasn't ignoring her. He didn't mind if she didn't reply to him, he wasn't expecting her too after all why would anyone rely want to talk to him.

Sydney looked up as the boy spoke. She had a blank face as her father had taught her to before turning away and facing towards the slightly green looking water. She sat up straight, not slouching, with her legs crossed and her hands in her lap. She was in her usual school uniform lacking her usual tights.

"That's my spot." Sydney spoke only those words. She didn't feel like talking much, wanting to focus more on other things than meeting new people. Of course she would talk to him if he replied but she was perfectly fine to be sat in silence. Well, it would be better if she was in her spot.

Mark looked slyly out of the corner of his eye and noted her blank expression. He wondered if she as putting it on or not. He never did, his blank expression was natural to him now and he had to really concentrate to put on any sort of emotion but he could never do it 100 percent. That was something that he would have to work on over time. Practise makes perfect after all.

He looked over his shoulder at her then back to the water. He wasn't aware that this spot had been claimed but he was older and much more experienced with magic so he ha the upper hand. However Mark was not the type of guy to hurt a girl on purpose so she had nothing to fear in that area. "Looks like your going to have to share it for a while then." He said turning hi head and winking at her. That was something which he had not done in a while but he felt like the older person with the upper hand and he had heard a lo of stories about younger students falling for the older ones so he would just play around or a bit. After all it would pass the time for him. "You can always share it with me now if you really want to." He said in a monotone as he scooted over. If he had said that just over a year ago he would have sounded like his old cheeky self but he was no longer that boy
