Beckett was in sitting in the library trying to follow Minnie's advice to follow a schedule. He was in his study time and was five minutes away from his social time. The thing was that Emmaline was probably the last person that wanted to see him because of their little competition going on, Oscar was Merlin knows where and Sawyer was hanging with some other people so Beckett was left with no people to talk to during his social time. Great! First day with a schedule and I'm already flaking it, he said to himself.
There was a boy sitting in same table as him, relatively close, but he seemed older and for some reason disturbed or maybe even sad, Beckett couldn't exactly tell. The first year wasn't about to start talking to him out of nowhere, first because he was older and not every olderstudent likes to be disturbed by a younger one, secondly because he seemed disturbed and Beckett sucked at dealing with others emotions and being compassionate, or at least he thought he would suck since he lacked experience on that department.
Beckett closed his book, his five minutes were up. Since he had nothing else to do he just closed his book, it was time to socialise not to study and even though he had no one to socialise he wouldn't give in to the temptation to study. He started looking at the ceiling and all the books in the shelves, trying to keep himself from opening the book that he was using to study, this was harder than he expected it to be.
