Kira sat in the gardens, thrilled at her new discovery. She sat with her back against a large tree, dressed in blue jean shorts and a deep blue tank top. Her chocolate hair was back in a ponytail and her legs were stretched out in front of her. She was wearing her favorite pair of blue and white sneakers with crazy mismatched knee-length socks. One was striped blue and silver like her new house and the other was black with deep red hearts covering it.

Her bag sat on the ground next to her, and she herself was lost in a particularly good book. Dragon's Keep by Janet Lee Carey. Kira flipped the pages, intrigued by the idea of a princess cursed with a dragon's claw on her left hand that was also prophesied to rule.

This, this is what she had missed the most. Being surrounded by a beautiful garden- though not her sisters- out in nature with a good book and no people around to disturb her. She was painfully shy, and though she lived at a popular Inn she knew all the best places to hide from guests.

She turned the page, wishing she had remembered a drink, not noticing anything in the world around her.

Gardening or farming is what relaxes Lauryn the most and with her favorite subject being Herbology, she get to have a hands on experience with magical plants. It was a first for her but willing to learn more. Although magical plants can only be access during class, she can attend to some normal plants and flowers at the school's garden. Armed with a sheers, she made her journey to the gardens. Lauryn spotted her favorite flowers, gardenias.

The Hufflepuff loves the sweet scent of that thornless white flower. She snipped a couple to have some in a vase for her bedside table. She wonder if there's a spell for the flowers not to wilt easily? She wanted them to last or last for the winter. While doing her business, Lauryn spotted a girl reading something's seems good. She wanted to say hi to the girl but it seems rude to bother someone reading. But she was curious about the book, she, too, loves reading when she has a free time.

"Is it any good?" She asked when she unknowingly scooted over to some bush of flowers she didn't know she was snipping.

Kira startled a little at the sound of a girls voice. She looked up quickly, her blue eyes wide. Seeing the girl with the shears, Kira looked down, her face turning the slightest shade of pink. At least the girl had asked a simple question.

Kira closed the book, careful to keep her place. She stroked the cover gently, a shy smile on her face. "Oh, it's absolutely enchanting," She spoke softly, her eyes twinkling a bit as she began to describe it. "The heroine has been taken by the dragon, and has agreed to stay with him if he leaves her kingdom be. He only lets her live because of the dragon claw on her hand,"

Kira bit her lip then, never one to spoil a good story. She glanced up at the girl and made a small comment of her own. "The gardenia is lovely, but the poor Jasmines might not like your attention."

Lauryn bit her lip to suppress her giggle when she noticed the girl looked down. She realized that her shears was waving at her and that it might have just scared the girl. "Oh, sorry. Should have hide it." She stated and brought it down to hide it behind her back. She was then comfortable and told her about the book she was reading. Lauryn wasn't into anything fantasy or dystopian, she was more into romance, adventures and syfy.

But the book seems interesting enough that she decided to sit beside the girl without informing her. "Wait? She has dragon hands? How did that happened?" She has so many questions about the story and she didn't mind spoilers. When the girl mentioned about Jasmines, she looked back at the bush of flowers she had snipped. "Oh, wow! I didn't mean to do that." Disappointed, Lauryn got up from her seat and retrieved the string of Jasmines. "I can make it into a flower crown. I'm good at it." The idea didn't fail. "Would you like a flower crow?" Lauryn asked the girl.

Kira smiled a little at the girls happy-go-lucky responses. She shook her head a little at the girls offer for a flower crown. "Oh, no, thank you. It would look much prettier on you," She offered shyly. Tyra always said a good compliment was worth a thousand smiles. Kira looked at her book. "Um, it's just one finger. Her mother had been so driven by a prophecy that said her daughter would be the one to end the war that she went to a witch and drank from a stolen dragon egg to cure her barren womb. It's really quite fascinating. I thought there might be a romance, and there still might be, but it just strengthens the story instead of being the entire story,"

Kira glanced up from under her lashes, stopping abruptly when she realized she was rattling on. "S-sorry about that," She smiled nervously. "Um, my names Kira Wolf." She held out her hand.

The Hufflepuff shrugged her shoulder when the other girl politely declined the flower crown that she was about to make. She rather made one for herself and put it on her. Although with her compliment on her, Lauryn felt her cheeks burn. She was a bit shy from time to time and compliments, she rarely get them from strangers. "Thank you." She said back as she checked her flower crown again to adjust it. "You're pretty too. Don't downgrade yourself." Lauryn smiled to her. She doesn't like hearing things like that when in truth, they are more prettier than herself.

Lauryn listened as she explained that the main character in the book only has one dragon finger. The brunette nodded understandingly and was fascinated by the story. "Do you think the school library has books like that too?" Lauryn asked, wondering. She could asked her cousins but they're hard to track down in this huge castle. Lauryn heard that the other two Woodlocks are in separate houses. The youngest Woodlock giggled when the girl stopped her story telling. Lauryn didn't mind some spoilers, it makes her more curious to read the book herself. "No worries, I enjoy spoilers than suspense. I get anxiety real bad." She giggled nervously. "Nice to meet you, Kira. I'm Lauryn Woodlock but you can call me Reny. That's my nickname. Or Woodlock, whichever you're comfortable to call me but I do prefer Reny because I have cousins here and you might get confused." Lauryn laughed. The last scenario would only happened if Kira called her from the Great Hall which, Lauryn thinks, won't happen as the girl was shy and quiet enough.

Kira blushed a bit more when the girl complimented her back, and shrugged a little bit at her question about library books. "I don't know, but I couldn't risk it. Half my luggage was my books I hadn't read yet," Kira admitted sheepishly. She looked at her book again. "I'll finish this one by tomorrow, there are only a hundred or so pages left. You could borrow it if you like," She offered. It made her a little nervous offering to loan out a book, but she had determined that if she was going to be her for seven years she should at least make a friend or two. Offering her books was the friendliest thing she could think of.

Kira looked back up at the girl when she told Kira her name. "It's nice to meet you, Reny," She smiled, tucking her hair behind her ear. "oh, um, I'm in Ravenclaw. Which house are you in?"

Sorry for a very late reply :cyndi:

Lauryn giggled as the girl name Kira informed her that she brought half of her books along with her. While she's trying not to get bored while here, she didn't brought much of her stuff. Just some comic books, books and lots of Sudoko puzzle books. There's just something about numbers and how they do the puzzles. The Hufflepuff girl's eyes brighten up more when she told she could borrow her books when she's finished. "Are you sure about that? Gosh, I would love to but if you're not comfortable lending it, I'm okay with it." Lauryn knows some book owners tend to be greedy about them. She's like that sometimes.

"I'm in Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw is where my uncle is sorted. I don't know if you've ever met him yet." Lauryn was busy once she got in the school. She didn't have time to mingle with her uncles. "What else do you fancy besides reading? What sport do you like?" She asked hoping it was Quidditch and she could talk about it none stop.

Kira looked at her book again a minute before answering. "Yeah, I'm sure. I'll finish it tonight, so maybe we could meet for breakfast tomorrow or something?" Kira felt like maybe the two girls could be friends, and since she wasn't really sure if she had any yet, the idea of making plans with someone else made her happy.

She nodded when Reny said she was a hufflupuff. She hadn't met any other Hufflepuffs yet, and she couldn't help but be curious about how the sorting system worked. She'd have to look into it later. She continued on, saying her uncle had been sorted into Ravenclaw, and shook her head when Reny asked if she'd met him. The girl talked fast, but that was okay. Kira had always been a good listener. It was just the talking that got her.

Kira thought over her response for a moment, careful not to say anything too weird, remembering her encounter in the common room with Jacob. "Well... I really like gardening. My older sister has a beautiful garden back home. Let's see... I like cooking, and sewing, and I'm a little interested in music. As for sports..." She thought a minute, wondering if there were any differences between regular sports and magical sports. "I don't really know anything about sports, so I can't say if I like them or not. I would have to find out more about them to answer that."

She bit her lip excitedly when she confirmed about the book Kira was going to lend her. She might even sneak a peek at the back of the book to find out the ending, Lauryn was into spoilers but never pass an opportunity to read or watch the spoiled subjects. It was a shame though that she hasn't met her uncle, but Lauryn might convince Braxton to have a little tea party with them one day. The Hufflepuff listened to the Ravenclaw and was amazed how she's so like her. "Don't worry about sports, I'm just a geek about football and all that. No sport doesn't mean you'll loose friends." Lauryn told Kira. She wasn't prejudice about stuff like that but it would be a plus if they could talk about it. "Gardening, though? We have a farm here in New Zealand but they're merely for ourselves and the animals are just pets." She looks tending to their pets. Actually, she misses them terribly. "Do you have your own pets?" Lauryn asked, curious.

Kira smiled as she listened to Lauren talk. The girl was definitely full of energy. One she asked about pets though Kira shook her head. "No, I don't. My sister bass an earless owl but that's about it. I was thinking about getting a cat next year though," She confided in the bright and bubbly girl next to her.

"Cats are so pretty, and they seem pretty independent. What about you? Do you have any pets?" Kira asked, genuinely curious.

"Oh my god! I want a cat, too. Maybe we can buy them together. What kind would you like?" Lauryn always wanted her own pet that can be with her in the school. It gets lonely sometimes and she would like a cuddle buddy at night. "I have pets but they're usually farm animals that we don't sell off. They're mostly rescued. And I can't really take them here." She giggled at the idea bringing her favorite pet cow, Patato. He's very big and the school won't allow it.

Kira smiled. "Well, maybe we can meet up before school and pick out cats together. I like them all, but I also like birds. I haven't decided yet." She brushed her bangs behind her ear again. "You have a farm? That's cool. My sister and I own an Inn outside of Arrowtown. It's nice having so much space to roam in."
