Gregory was trying to not think too negatively, but it was admittedly difficult. He had managed a nice enough conversation with Cassius, but this wouldn't last. The words that Cassius had previously said, had called him rung loudly in his head. He knew he was a waste of space, and no apology from Cassius would unsay those words to him. He could never be loved. The rose note which had been from Cassius sat in his drawer, he read it every other day, reminding himself of what was true. He had decided to stay out of the library and instead use the student lounge. He had his notes from the year before, and he was tying to draw them out again, trying to make them make sense so he could at least try to understand the new things they were about to learn in the coming classes. His notes were just useless. So he wasn't feeling very good, a deep frown on his features and unconcealed frustration and sorrow in his eyes.

Returning to school was always a joy for Rāwhiti, especially now that his sister was at school too. Sure, he missed his parents, but his friends and now all of his siblings were here to spend time with. Hogwarts was starting, bit by bit, to feel more like home than his actual home did. He hardly even missed his muggle friends from back home these days, the divide between them too big to cross. He felt more kinship with his friends at Hogwarts.

His best of whom was currently missing. He didn't even really have a reason to be looking for Emery, mostly just bored and wanting to bother his friend about it. But everywhere he looked, Emery seemed to be elsewhere. The lounge was the last place he would check before giving up, assuming the Ravenclaw was up in his tower being antisocial. To his dismay Emery was indeed missing from the lounge, but he spotted another familiar face. He didn't know Gregory Friend from anything other than his most concerning rose delivery last year, but here the kid was again looking upset. "Hey, bro!" He said with a smile, sliding into a seat next to the Hufflepuff. "You okay?" If he couldn't find Emery to bother, maybe he could help another student out with something.

Gregory felt just about ready to start crying with how frustrated he was with his notes. He glanced up as someone greeted him. He had been bit startled by it but the boy was already sitting with him. Gregory plastered a fake smile on his face and nodded, it was very obvious that he was faking it. "My notes from last year are just pretty rough and was just trying to revise a little." he explained what he was doing, at least to say something, but he did not in fact show the notes to the boy, since they were pretty terrible notes and he didn't want to embarrass himself.
