[ hair ] Jae get's his hair from his father, a dark brown and just a little bit curly. It is usually cut short to just above his eyes and is slightly longer at the front. He's the only sibling to have his father's hair, his brothers have his mother's dark black and straight.
[ eyes ] Just like his parents, his eyes are a very dark brown, almost black in color.
[ height ] He's tall, standing around 5-foot-4 already which helped spawn the nickname of Giraffe, as well as his fondness for the animals.
[ weight ] A slightly skinny boy, Jae is around 103.6 lbs.
[ style ] An eccentric when it comes to his clothes he doesn't really dress like a typical eleven-year-old. He has a fondness for snapbacks and will be often found with one on his head whenever he can get away with it. Jae also loves sweater vests and short sleeves. His pants are normally just jeans in various dark shades and his shoes a simple pair of sneakers. A little out of the ordinary he has a particular giraffe onesie he is quite attached to and will often be found wandering around the common room wearing it after lessons have ended for the day.

[ personality ] The wand certainly picked the right wizard when it comes to Jae. He is generally a kind of caring person, putting other people before himself. Jae is most certainly a young explorer, he cannot go to a new place without feeling the need to go and find it's every secret nook and cranny. The boy has a pleasant outlook on life, while he knows that there are bad things and bad people out there, he really does try to not let it bother him and always strives to find the good in the world. For an eleven-year-old boy, he really does have little worries, something he plans not to change about himself despite how old and wrinkly he will get. The only thing he really worries about is getting caught after he decided to spontaneously break the rules.
Many people have also found that Jae is quite the talker, he will just start talking to people out of the blue and will not stop, not even if you ask him too. He can ramble on about many things, animals, flowers, his family or something which simply caught his interest at the time. But while he is a rambler, he's kind one and would never even hurt a fly. If you find a spider and you want to get rid of it, Jae is the boy to come and find seeing as he is not scared of any animal and quite loves spiders, but not if you don't mind waiting awhile while he has a one-sided conversation with said spider. When he is not making flower crowns or chatting to animals or simply rambling on to someone, Jae might be hard to find as he likes to explore and might find himself stuck in an awkward corner trying to find a secret.While he might seem like someone who has no fears, he does have many, he just doesn't let them show. Most importantly he doesn't want to make a fool of himself and bring dishonor to the family name. Being a wizard has not made this situation better.
[ history ] Ji-Hu Ryu and his wife Seul-Ki Hwang are two completely normal muggles from Seoul in South Korea. They met in high school and were sweethearts and eventually got married and together they had three children, all boys. Sung-Jin and Joon-Ho the twins and Min-Jae being the youngest of the three by quite some distance after his mother decided that she wanted another child. Both parents were heavily involved in animals, both vets and it was not uncommon for their family home to be running with abandoned animals being nursed back to health before they were taken to a shelter, though a lot of them were just adopted by the family. His whole life he was brought up around animals and by the age of three he was the main namer, making sure to give each animal big or small a proper name. He loved it, watching these sick and injured animals getting healthy again. Of course, they couldn't save everyone all of the time, but they made sure the animal was given a proper burial.
When Jae was barely six years old, his parents decided to move to New Zealand, packing up everything they had and making the move. It was a big change to what he was used to, everyone looked different, the people the buildings and it just didn't smell like home. While it was strange at first, but he soon adjusted to the new life. Both his brothers, being much older than he was, graduated from school long before he did, Sung-Jin went on to study a PhD in Astrophysics while his twin Joon-Ho followed in his parents footsteps and became a vet. Things felt normal again, just like he was back in Seoul, however, it was not to last. On his eleventh birthday his Hogwarts letter arrived and he was thrown into the word of magic.
Things changed after that, his father almost seemed to turn his back on him, whereas his mother was a little more considerate and promised she would support him. He didn't want her support, he wanted things to go back to the way they were, but of course, not amount of shouting or begging was going to change anything. All he could do now was to try and make things better between him and his strict father, easier said than done, unfortunately.

Jae's relationship with his father was a lot better before magic came into things. His father was always happy to let Jae help and he spent a lot of time letting his youngest care for the animals. Now that Jae is off to Hogwarts, their relationship has soured and Ji-Hu acts like his youngest son isn't even there. Jae just hopes that things will change and it is just a matter of time before things are back to normal between him and his father.

Not that he really minds, he feels as though it is a nice enough house and the fact that their symbol is a lion is frankly, quite cool.

[ favorite lesson ] Probably Charms and Herbology, though he is greatly looking forward to Care of Magical Creatures.
[ least favorite lesson ] Potions, he keeps messing everything up. He also doesn't like Defense Against The Dark Arts because Professor Styx scares him.
[ quidditch ] While Quidditch seems interesting, Jae will probably never try out because just the idea of trying to fly on a wooden stick puts him off.
