Meeting the Step Son

Stacy stood outside one of the shops at Brightstone. She looked at the photo in her hand and looked around the faces of the kids to see if any of them were Teddy. Kevin had given her the idea to go and see her new step son but seeing as he was at work, she had to come alone. The photo in her hand was the only way of identifying which one was Teddy and so far she wasn't doing a very good job of finding him. She was about to go into a nearby shop when she spotted him walking towards her.

Teddy was more than slightly annoyed. His father had been broken by another woman and, just as he had gotten better, what had he done? bloody married another one. He looked down at the picture in his hand. His father had written to him explaining what had happened, what was going to happen with living arrangements and that she was meeting him during his Brightstone weekend, a picture of her had been attatched.

Teddy had first noticed the woman, Stacy, among a group of kids. She was looking at a slip of paper and looking around. He guessed she was looking for him. He walked up to her determinedly. "So you're the thing that married my dad?" He didn't like acting like this, mainly because what he had done last time he was like this was the reason he could be moving schools. However, when it came to his dad he couldn't help it, his dad was his role model and second favourite family member (Just behind his half sister), no woman had the right to hurt him.

Stacy was surprised when Teddy spoke to her. She couldn't see how a man as kind as Kevin could raise a son who didn't seem to want to even give her a chance. She decided to ignore it and only do something if he did it again. She held her hand out. "I'm Stacy. It's nice to meet you Teddy." Stacy hoped he would accept her because she wanted to stay with Kevin and didn't want to have to break up with him just because Teddy was awkward and rebellious.

Kevin eyed her up, she seemed nice but, then again, so did Sarah. He shook her hand anyway. "Yeah, whatever. Let me just lay down a law, I'll be nice if you be nice. And I don't mean to me. My dad has been hurt before, he got a bloody tattoo because he got too attached then dumped and I had to stay with my mother and step dad because he was too p!$$£d to look after me so you can see why I'm weary of you. Dad explained what happened and I'm gunna give you a chance but if you hurt him I will find a way for you to feel all the pain he does."

Teddy felt satisfied with his warning and didn't even bother to acknowledge the look the woman had on her face. He assumed it would be shocked at a thirteen year old talking like that. He took a minute before looking up at her with a smile. "Now that that's out of the way. Tell me about yourself." His voice changed dramatically from dangerous sounding to friendly and kind, the kind of tone you'd expect from a hufflepuff.

Stacy listened to Teddy and once she heard what he had to say, she understood why he was acting the way he was. She was shocked at how a boy his age could be that way but he had decent enough reasons and that was all he needed for Stacy to accept his behaviour. She smiled at him showing that she wasn't about to do that and that she wanted to stay with Kevin no matter what.
Stacy was glad when he changed his voice and subject. He sounded more like a thirteen year old hufflepuff now. "What do you want to know?? If I were to tell you everything then we'd be here forever."

Teddy thought for a second. "How about we start with family, seeing as how they are kind of my family too. Wait, do I have to meet them, I'm not good with extended families. Well, it may just be my step dad's family I'm not good with." He chuckled as he remembered the last time he saw that side of the family, he was no longer allowed to enter their house and they refused to come round unless he was at his fathers. Teddy found it hilarious.

"Well, my parents died so I lived with my aunt, uncle, two brothers and nine cousins. You don't have to meet them if you don't want to. Two of my cousins are around about your age though so you might get on well with them." Stacy knew how accepting Steve and Nick could be to outsiders. Especially if they were brought into the family by a member of the family.

Teddy sighed and grinned, this lady actually seemed pretty good for his dad. "Okay, wow you come from a big family. I only have one sibling, though, I'm not allowed to see my cousins any more." A cheeky grin appeared when he said the last bit. Teddy felt his legs getting tired, he had been walking quite a bit. "Hey, you wanna sit down or something?" He walked over to a vacant bench and sat down. "Oh, you won't tell my dad about how I acted at first will you? He's pretty angry with me still because of how I acter about his last girlfriend."

Stacy laughed as she sat next to Teddy on the bench. "Do I dare ask why you're not allowed to see them??" Stacy knew all to well how kids could act as she had spent time sharing a room with Lily but she had learnt to leave them to whatever they're doing rather than ask questions. "Of course not." She smiled. "I understand the way you acted and that's a good enough reason for me to accept it." She shrugged. "Am I to take it you don't get on well with your mum or step dad then??"

Teddy rolled his eyes. "It's not my fault the blonde plastics didn't appreciate green hair for Halloween." He laughed, he had to admit it was a bit harsh but they had such a big over reaction it was worth the telling off. "Mum's fine, well, she used to be. Darren is just annoying though. Seriously, he'll take mum out on my birthday because he doesn't like it when she pays more attention to me than him. It's pathetic. The only reason I even go back to mums any more is to make sure Tracey is still awesome." He paused, realising Stacy had no idea who any of these people were. "Tracey is my half sister. I have a picture of her if you want to see it." Teddy always carried pictures of his family around in his wallet.

Stacy laughed when he said about the green haired blondes. "I'm going to say now. You and my cousins will definitely get on well. Steve and Nick are major pranksters. They skip class to make sure a prank is working." She smiled at Teddy when she managed to stop laughing. "That must be rough. I can see why you're so close to your dad when your step dad's like that. Doesn't your mum realise what he's doing??" She frowned curiously. Stacy didn't want to be like that. She wanted to be a member of the family and that meant getting on with everyone in it. "Yeah, sure." She smiled again when he offered to show her the picture of Tracey.

Teddy grinned and opened up his wallet and searched through it while replying to her. "No, she's to 'in love' to tell he's doing any wrong. Ah! Here it is." Teddy passed over his favourite photo of his half sister. "She's my most favourite person in the world. Seriously, she can play rugby, she's even getting better than me at it. That's probabl because of her height though."

Stacy looked at the photo of the little girl. "She's so sweet." Stacy smiled. "Reminds me of Lily five years ago. She was sweet then but she loves herself too much now." Stacy shrugged. "It must be fun getting beat by a little girl at rugby." Stacy laughed. "What does her height have to do with it??"

(Teddy's gorgeous  I love Josh Hutcherson :D )

Teddy laughed before wincing at the memory. "Well, I'm pretty tall for my age and she's mega short so she comes up to here on me." He put his hand on hi pelvic bone. "So when she tackles me she gets me in a pretty sensitive area." He grimaced, she liked doing it that way, for some reason she found it funny. Teddy took the picture back and put it in his wallet along with the other pictures of his family.

((Yeah, you do realise you answered with Jasper right?))

Stacy laughed again when she heard Teddy explain about Tracey. "I bet you love that." She smiled and looked around when she smelt a sweet sugary smell. "Do you want to go and get some sweets?? I'll pay for you if you want??" Stacy was still able to get a load of money off her aunt and uncle even though they hated her and thought she should get money off Kevin.

(Yeah, I realised 10 mins after I posted by which time I'd logged off of Jasper and couldn't be bothered to log back on. I figured you'd probably guess it was meant to be Stacy. lol.)

Teddy looked at her shocked. "Like it? It hurts like hell." He exclaimed, the shocked look changed to an expectant one. "Hello, do squirrels climb trees?" HE laughed. "Of course I want sweets, I am a child." HE continued laughing and stood up, he really liked this woman. "You know, you're alright." He took a step back. "For a girl any way."

Stacy smiled as she stood up and walked with Teddy in the direction of Honeyduke's. She opened the door and held it for Teddy. "Grab as much as you like." She smiled as she grabbed a box of Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans and a Chocolate Frog. She couldn't help but smile when Teddy said she was alright. She had wanted him to accept her and now she had. Mission accomplished.

Teddy turned to look at the, obviously bonkers, lady. "I'm going to need to be given a limit here, seriously, unless you want the whole shop on your bill then give me a limit." He grinned, she seemed nice and he really didn't want to send her, and consequently himself and his father, bankrupt on a sweet trip.

Stacy grinned. "Ok. Your limit is 40 galleons." She giggled. "Is that satisfactory for you??" Stacy knew that if needed, she could be 'persuaded' to up the amount but for now she was just going with 40.

Teddy's jaw dropped. Literally. "Are you Joshing me? Seriously? Forty Galleons on sugar? My teachers are going to hate you." He laughed and quickly ran off around the shop, adding as he went along until he had reached thirty six galleons. He then picked out some nice girly things to make an even forty and took them up to Stacy, his arms were overflowing. "Here we go, exactly forty."

Stacy giggled. "Very precise." She smiled at him as she paid for the sweets. "My own teachers never liked me. I think I can probably survive if yours don't." Stacy had spent most of her time in detention when she was at school. It wasn't that she didn't get on with people, she just couldn't be bothered to do any of the work. Her marks were still ok though so she was fine with it.

Teddy laughed and took the bag, glancing at his watch as he did. "Wow, we've been talking for, like, two or three hours. I'm not sure when I arrived exactly." He walked out of the shop, waiting for her to follow. "So, what do you do for a living then?"

"Time flies when you're having fun." Stacy grinned. "I'm unemployed. I get money off my parents all the time. I'm looking to get a job but I wouldn't know where to start. Model is what's jumping out at me the most" Stacy had always loved fashion so becoming a model was the most obvious career choice for her.

Teddy looked at her oddly. "You want to spend you work life walking up and down wearing different clothes. Wouldn't that get boring?" He never understood what the point of models were. Surely their legs would get tired from walking and they'd get bored doing the same thing over and over.

Stacy shrugged as she opened her box of Bertie Botts and started eating them. "Well, I like fashion so it gives me a chance to get to wear different clothes and also you get paid well so I'd get more money to buy you sweets with." She smiled down at Teddy.
