The Basics

Character's Name: Lucinda Jane Buckley.

Character's Birthdate: 20th November, 2010.

Hometown: Brisbane, Australia.

Blood Status: Muggleborn.

Wand: Eucalyptus Wand 13 1/2" Essence of Mermaid Scale.

Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw.

Appearance

Hair: Blonde, with hints of brown. Long - past her shoulderblades - and very messy.

Eyes: Pale blue.

Height: 5'8"

Style: Dresses in a very plain manner, but it works - white t-shirts and pastels and the like. She doesn't put too much effort in to her appearance - she tries to look neat and well-presented, but she doesn't worry too much.

Other Distinguishing Features: She has a birthmark on her hip - vaguely in the shape of a bird.

A Little Deeper

Personality:Because Lucy is an only child, she's never been around much company. And that's the way she likes it. She's a very solitary creature, who is perfectly content to be alone and doesn't need to surround herself with friends. Of course, at a place like Hogwarts, it's hard to not have friends, but Lucy is the type who has only one or two close friends, and is extremely loyal to them. Because of her relative isolation when growing up, she is also terrified of strangers and is extremely shy - to the point that she is prone to stammer when talking to new people. The same also goes for when she is nervous. For a former public speaker, the nerves thankfully don't hit too often, but unfortuanately for Lucy, her mannerisms make it quite obvious when she is. For someone so unpopular, she can come across as a little haughty and high-and-mighty, but it is because she is aware she is intelligent - well, not in magic, but in muggle issues - and can seem quite proud. Hence, her lack of willingness to associate with other people can often be interpreted as snobbishness, not shyness. But really, underneath the unseeming exterior, is a girl with a good brain and a big heart, who is always willing to help those closest to her.

History:Lucy was born in Brisbane, and grew up only living with her mother, and occaisionally her grandmother. Her father she barely knew, she would occaisionally go and visit him - until she was about 7 years old and no longer felt comfortable intruding on his new family life. She only hears from him every couple of months now, but it's alright because she has Hogwarts to worry about.
Lucy was always a quiet, unassuming child, choosing to remain by herself at school, throwing herself in to her studies and extra-curricular activities. She took up violin for a time, but that did not work to her advantage, so she chose to take up more academic pursuits such as chess and debating, as well as playing sports like netball, tennis, hockey, cricket and softball. Hence, despite herself, she is quite a fan of Quidditch.
When she was 11, just as she was beginning to plan out her entire future (graduating high school with excellent grades, going on to university to take up a Law degree - with Arts on the side for variety), she recieved her letter from Hogwarts, which changed everything and destroyed the 11 year old's view for the future. Nevertheless, she grudgingly went along to Hogwarts and began her new future, all the while sad at the thought of what she could have had.
When she was fifteen, Lucy was sent home, because her mother was very ill. While it seemed like her mother was recovering when Lucy was part way through what was to be her fifth year, her illness only got worse, and her mother passed away on the 1st of April, 2027. Lucy was obviously distraught, but was sent back to Hogwarts so she could finish her education properly.

Family: Charlotte Buckley, Lucy's deceased mother, was Lucy's only close family. Charlotte is a muggle woman, a single parent who worked as an English teacher at Lucy's old primary school until she got too sick to continue. They lived in a small and somewhat run-down house in the inner suburbs of Brisbane, which is now kept up by Lucy's rather sprightly grandmother, Kathleen Buckley, who is Lucy's main caretaker (when she's home from school). However, Lucy, already an adult in the wizarding world and soon to be an adult in the muggle world, hardly needs it, and will likely be looking after herself come graduation.

Lucy's dad, Jacob Evans, age 42, lives in Perth, with his wife and kids. He's a mining engineer, and Lucy doesn't see him or hear from him that often. They're pretty happy that way. He sends money on Lucy's birthday, and occaisionally calls, too, but that's about it.
